Avatar f tn t matter how much i watch what i eat or exercise i can not lose weight WHY??? What am i doing wrong? Please help me lose the weight..Give me some ideas.
Avatar n tn Also, thyroid meds by themselves seldom cause weight loss. Having levels normalized simply ALLOWS you to lose weight...you still have to diet and exercise. Normalizing levels can be a lengthy process since meds changes are not stabilized until 4-6 weeks after starting or changing dose. You have to wait that long between each dosage change. It's a process we've all been through...it's not a lot of fun...but it gets a little better all the time.
Avatar n tn hi l am taking these also but l am a chubby person but have not put any weight on l heard you lose weight l am still waiting only been on them for 3 months but not feeling any better myself l take mine first thing morning
Avatar n tn Will I see any boost in my metabolism soon? I have been trying to lose weight, and can only seem to take of pounds (5 in 9 months) by doing excessive cardio (2 hours per day). I am eating between 1500-2000 calories per day and sleeping a lot, like 9 hours every night. Is there any hope or piece of mind for me?
Avatar f tn 125 mcgs of valothyroine or whatever sounds close to that. When will I begin to lose weight? I lost weight being hyper and then gained it back in a month when I was treated with RAI and became hypo. So november treated for hyper and then February started being hypo and now a month later on meds. Waiting for the pills to get me to normal. I am starting to get my energy back and my arms stopped losing circulation and all that. Please some one give me a guess!
Avatar f tn I've been on methadone for 3 years and decided to try and lose a little weight. Only want to lose like 25 lbs. Started taking phentermine a week ago. Docter tested my thyoid level it was low so now I'm taking levothyroxine. First couple days were fine but when I added the thyroid medicine I started getting headaches and just not feeling right. Should I continue all three medicines? I really want to lose the weight! What should I do?
565646 tn?1216814548 I just found out that i have this and when i asked the nurse who called she said once i get my meds regulated i will start to lose weight. I was put on levothyroxine 25mcg andin 60days i will have blood drawn again. how true is that will i be battling wit my weight for the rest of my life?? Will i cont. to have this up and down feeling crying for no darn reason at all?
Avatar f tn Too often, doctors UNDERmedicate their patients, so it looks like the drug causes hair loss and weight gain when continuing hypo is really the culprit. Your hair will grow back, and you will find it easier to lose weight once your thyroid levels are stabilized. Be sure your doctor is testing free T3 and free T4 inaddition to TSH. These are the actual thyroid hormones and much more important than TSH.
Avatar f tn fatigue, sleeping MUCH more than normal, very dry skin and unable to lose weight. Once again, thank you.
Avatar n tn I had a total thyroidectomy 6 years ago and had gained 40 llbs since then. A year ago I started 12.5 cytomel. I never felt better in my life! I was on 125 levothyroxine and 12.5 cytomel to clarify. My doctor said I would not lose weight due to the cytomel. I don't know if it was the cyt or just me feeling better with no more fatigue that made me lose weight. I dropped 25lbs. Two months ago found out I was pregnant and was taken off the cytomel and my levothyroxine was raised to 150.
1082722 tn?1256234206 I have not gained weight on Synthroid (similar to Levo). It should help you lose weight once your FT4 and FT3 go up. The doctor should be treating your freeT4 and freeT3 to get optimum weight loss results and to alleviate hypo symptoms. She should also have run TGab and TPOab antibody tests to make sure Hashimoto's isn't to blame for the hypo condition. Also, I would request a thyroid ultrasound.
Avatar n tn Weight becomes an uphill battle with hypothyroidism. Has anyone lost weight on cytomel? What will it take to lose weight while having hypothyroidism and being on cytomel? I know the side effects of cytomel includes weight loss......but how much time do you have to be on cytomel for to start seeing those side effects? I can use any help on this. Thanks in advance.
1038948 tn?1252943511 and watching my diet, I have not been able to lose the weight. The only reason for this that I can see is that there is a problem with my dosage. Am I correct or can there be other facors affecting my inability to lose the weight?
Avatar n tn Being that I had my thyroid removed 8 months ago, I am currently on Levothyroxine (0.125 mg). I also have diabetes. I have gained weight and cannot lose any. It is as if I have a tube in my belly pumping air.....it gets bigger and bigger. Ive had tests done to check my TSH..doc says its normal. I have other issues as well, loss of sex drive, hot and cold, sleepless, tingling in hands, memory issues, headaches. Why can I lose weight?
822804 tn?1298226302 I was on synthroid until Jan 09, at which time I was changed to levothyroxine + cytomel. I have not been able to lose anything on either regimen. I continue to watch my diet and exercise in hopes that one day I will be able to get rid of at least a small amount. Don't give up. I'm told that when the thyroid levels are right, the weight will come off.
Avatar m tn I was lost a total of 5 lbs but since I started taking the whole pill it seems that my weight is staying the same. Is this normal or will I start to lose weight again once my body become adjusted to the new dosage?
Avatar f tn That does sound unusual to me, as I actually started to lose weight once my hypothyroidism was identified and I began on Synthroid. I really think you should talk to your endocrinologist and tell him/her what is going on. No matter what, it is never a good idea to just stop taking any kind of medication without talking to your doctor first.
Avatar f tn What's the best way to lose weight with hypothyroidism? I've had two kids since being diagnosed and it's been tough trying to lose the weight.
Avatar f tn I am not overweight, but I am extremely athletic and have to work much harder than most people to stay in okay shape. Despite regular running and weight training, I have slowly gained about 12-15 lbs over the past couple of years. I have very heavy periods and have begun skipping a few periods over the past several months. Hair started coming out in huge amounts over the last few months & finally crashed completely in mid-Sept 2010.
393685 tn?1425812522 answer for weight loss since our thyroids pooh-poohed us, but I have chosen to take a more sensible way to achieving weight loss. For best results on achieving weight lose after becoming hypothyroid I follow the rules of Getting optimal on your thyroid medication naturally - so increase of metobolism can be achieved. Check your adrenal function. Make sure all is running right there too. Stay clear from processed food - enriched flour - and sugar products.
567985 tn?1216740438 i just recently went in april to get regulated on my meds. i take 150 mcg of levothyroxine once daily. will i ever lose all this weight?
Avatar f tn of this medication. Is all this normal and am I going to gain weight? I thought this medication was suppose to make me feel better, also at night I take zaniax to help me sleep, is this okay?
Avatar f tn I posted on your other thread, in which you had your results. Weight is a tough issue for many of us who have Hashi's/hypo. I was not able to lose any weight at all until my FT3 got to around mid range, but I still have to work at it, so your diet and exercise are going to have a large bearing on whether or not you lose weight. Thyroxine IS a T4 med.
Business woman2 Do understand, though that just starting on thyroid med may not help you lose weight. Many of us have to work very hard at it. How much exercise are you getting? How many calories/day are you eating? How are you cooking your veggies and chicken?
Avatar f tn WHat are your thoughts about armour?? If I stay at this dosage do you think evenutally my system will be able to lose weight?
Avatar n tn i was diagnosed with under active thryroid 6 month ago and i cant shift my weight i am on 100 mg of levothyroxine a day..will i ever lose weight as i am getting really depressed This discussion is related to will it help me lose weight.
Avatar f tn Once your thyroid levels get to where they are right for YOU, you should be able to lose the weight, but please understand that most likely the weight isn't going to just "fall off" without you having to really watch your diet and make sure you get plenty of exercise. What other symptoms do you have? And if you have results for FT3 and FT4, along with the lab's reference ranges, it would help members comment more fully.
