1063764 tn?1272821064 After being house bound from pain, weight gain from an implanted pain pump (removed last Sept) I lost the weight and was feeling great...until the levoxyl "recall". Now I am more sick than ever. I was put on 100 mcg of generic levothyroxine. Armour had too much T3 for me. Synthyroid caused major heart racing. I even passed out in Church!
Avatar n tn Side Effects of Levothyroxine - for the Consumer Levothyroxine All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. No COMMON side effects have been reported with the use of Levothyroxine .
Avatar f tn s not unusual for symptoms to worsen once starting on a thyroid medication, which could account for your further weight gain. Weight gain is a symptom of being hypo, therefore, it's very possible that your dosage isn't high enough, or you have to give it more time. How long have you been on the medication and what is your dosage?
1246883 tn?1285547973 Hi, welcome to the forum, seroquel is known to be associated with weight gain. There is significant weight gain is seen, in such cases usually other anti psychotics are prescribed. The weight gaining effect of this drug will not persist after discontinuation. Any associated condition should be looked for. If there is a change in voice (Voice becomes dusky), weight gain, intolerance to cold etc. You need to get your T3, t4 and TSH level checked as it may be in initial phase.
1201433 tn?1328997637 This is not a side effect of Levothyroxine. What could be happening is the medication for thyroid may not be balancing the thyroid out correctly and throwing off other hormones causing this issue. My thought would be to ask for a full round of tests. Thyroid FT3 and FT4, FSH/LH - DHEA, A1C and your metobolic panel labs.

Avatar f tn Apparently side effects will subside over two weeks when taking levothyroxine, or it could be that he's started you on to high a dose.
2076619 tn?1331842818 i am going through the same thing on the weight gain side... iv have been on everything and its the only thing that works for me...i hate the side effect of the weight gain ... but i havent had anyother side effects on it...
1187071 tn?1279369698 It also makes me tired which I can handle that one but not the weight gain, I have had problems with my back in the past and when I put on weight my back hurts. I have nerve pain in my face and just pain in my face, what would be the other options I can talk to the dr about today? Would another pill from that line of pills be the same? I am going to talk to him about treatment of the other pain in my face if he don't want to then send me to a pain specialist that can treat all the pain.

Avatar f tn I didn't have any side effects except pregnancy, lol but some people may have them although not sure about the specific ones you asked about.
Avatar m tn I have been on Lexapro several times over the last 4 years for 6 months to 2 years at a time. I am having problems with the sexual side effects and the weight gain. It's actually less of a "weight gain" than a shift in body composition. My pants are too tight and my shirts are more fitted but I haven't actually gained a pound. I am a competitive runner and haven't changed my exercise or eating habits over the last 2 years.
1555914 tn?1296474056 Depending on how old you are it could just be a weight thing. Normally early 20s you gain weight and again in mid-40s where it becomes hard to lose the weight. (I'm too lazy to check your status to see if you have your age so those things may not apply).
Avatar f tn t have any side effects. Side effects of thyroid meds are generally related to over- or under-medication. Some people do have sensitivity to the fillers in the various tablets.
Avatar f tn I have always struggled with different side effects of a higher dose. Constipation, night blindness, moodiness, weight gain (yes gain), insomnia, fatigue and cold sensitivity. My doctor has recently increased my dose to help me relieve some of my symptoms. I currently am 41years old, 5.2” and weight 147. I am now taking Levothyroxine 0.2mg a day, and have been on this for 6 months.
1756969 tn?1332437163 i think it's important to remember that weight gain is a symptom of hypo, not a side effect of the meds. Levo is very slow acting and takes 4-6 weeks before it reaches its full potential in your blood. During that time, while your body is rebalancing, you can actually become a little MORE hypo and see a few more symptoms. What further complicates thyroid meds is that the initial dose we are put on is seldom our optimal dose.
Avatar f tn The weight gain no doubt is due to fluid retention which is one of the side effects. You might discuss changing drugs with your Oncologist as there are others available but keep in mind that they all have similar side effecfts even though you mjight not experience them to the same degree. Regards .....
Avatar f tn Weight gain is one potential side effect of Cymbalta but it would also depend on your other medications and if they have this side effect as well. It would be worthwhile to speak to your psychiatrist about this and they could see how to adjust and/or change your medications as needed and also how this specific side effect could be addressed.
