Avatar f tn I was trying to determine if levothyroxine can cause rash and came across this website. I had been taking 60mg (1 grain) armour but was that was recently adjusted to 45mg armour and 25mcg levothyroxine due to the following lab results: TSH 1.19 (0.34-5.60) Free T4 0.61 (.61-1.12) Free T3 5.3 (2.0-4.4) T3 187 (71-180) Reverse T3 19 (13.5-34.2) My ears and hairline have a bubbly red rash.
Avatar n tn I saw a Dr. and he said the rash on my face is eczema and the rash between my fingers is hyper something or other that is caused by stress. I had been off my meds (levothyroxine) for over a week when I noticed the itching in my ears first then the rash came on my hands and then the red whelpy rash with some fine bumps that itch like the dickens, on my inner and top of my thighs, buttocks, hips some on my back. Sometimes the rash moves around or goes away a little in some areas.
Avatar n tn I do have a good friend who is allergic to the sun - breaks out in horrible rash whenever her skin is exposed for more than a few minutes. Any other symptoms? Could you still be hypo? What are your latest thyroid hormone levels?
Avatar n tn If you use this site and search for Hashi's rash you will find numerous references to a rash that seemed to be due to the antibodies of Hashi's. I can't recall all the actions taken by various people, but I do know that taking a moderate dose of selenium has been proven to reduce levels of the antibodies, which should have a beneficial effect. Perhaps other members will have additional suggestions to help get relief.
Avatar n tn My daughter started Levothyroxine at age 4 and developed a rash on her legs and experiences sore throats, hoarseness. Then in December 2009 her "head pain" turned out to be cerebral spinal fluid hypertension. I was pushing on her eyes and they had to do a lumbar puncture. After being admitted to hospital, they said her TSH was too low and they lowered her dosage.
8170270 tn?1413845335 Hello I have been taking 50mcg of Levothyroxine for about two weeks now. A few days after starting this new medication I developed hives and a rash all over my body. I do not have a gluten intolerance though I typically avoid it and I am on no other daily medication. I have been taking Benadryl around the clock but it seems to be getting worse. I called my endo and he said he's never heard of such a thing. Has anyone else experienced this?
Avatar f tn I had my whole thyroid removed 2 yrs ago. The levothyroxine wasn't absorbing so recently they put me on levothyroxine and cytomel as a booster for 9 days. My vitamin D levels.were very low. Now out of nowhere, I am getting a rash all around my neck. So.etimes very light sometimes not visible either. But the skin feels rough feeling. So I'm thinking it must be a thyroid issue or lack of vitamin D. I'm starting vitamin D today that the dr prescribed to be. We will see what happens.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed having an under active thyroid about 1.5 years ago, my results being "borderline". I am now on 50mg of levothyroxine sodium. Recently I have developed a itchy red rash and it keeps on spreading! Please help! Is this an affect of levothyroxine? When I was initially diagnosed I was also severely anemic, which can also be a cause of my symptoms, fatigue, hair loss, weight gain etc...
Avatar f tn My paternal grandfather had Sjorgens and Lupus. I have had restless legs, and have a slight rash on neck/chest. The doctor never seems concerned. They focus on the symptoms. Avatar f tn Anyone have any insight? And about 2 yrs ago, my doctor had prescribed levothyroxine, and after 20 days of taking it, I developed a red rash around my neck that went away 2 days after i stopped taking it. Anyone had that happpen? I'm asking because my insurance decided to drop coverage of the synthoid which costs $42, as opposed to the $9 of levo that is covered.

Avatar m tn My mother has been told she has Hypothyroidism. She has been on levothyroxine since early February. She has had a rash since beginning the medication. Her GP sent her to a Dermatologist who has determined nothing external is causing the rash and told her to go back to her GP. it started on her arms legs, back and stomach and is now getting worse - it is now on her scalp, goin area, under her breasts and bottox. Mom is also anxious, depressed, suffering brain fog and putting on weight.
Avatar n tn Can levothyroxine cause my skin to burn?
Avatar f tn My Dr. switched me from 100mcg to 88mcg approx. 1 month ago. I developed a rash that resembles hives and is present on my upper, lower arms and legs almost 3 weeks ago. My Dermatologist and Internist seem to think that it's just a major release of histamines and prescribed 3 different antihistamines per day plus a steriod ointment. It is getting worse and is very uncomfortable. It itches and is very red. Could this have something to do with my switch in dosage?
Avatar m tn 28 wks w/dx stage 0, gr 3., lost my hair-now growing back, lost my thyroid-on levothyroxine., thrush, bad skin rash. Now all is feeling good, I'm back to work, and clear. God is great! So are you warriors.
Avatar f tn I have this rash. It has occurred twice now with the same exact pattern in the same exact locations. I have a few red bumps that developed on my chest also both times. I have hypothyroidism if that means anything... I just want to know what this is. It is intensely itchy sometimes and than subsides. It is starting to fade but I've had it for a week now. It was bright red at first and now as it is fading and turning brownish. I've included a picture. Any help would be great!
Avatar m tn 5 years and within a few weeks developed what looks like prickly heat rash on my back and chest. It has not bothered me except it is unsightly. My dosage was raised to 37 micrograms recently when the rash began to worsen and itch. I then decided to try compounded medication in hopes that the rash would go away. It did not. Any suggestions or thoughts are appreciated. Thanks for your time.
Avatar f tn A few months ago, I tested 15 tsh and my dr started me on 50 mcg levothyroxine. After 8 weeks I retested and my tsh was 7, normal range being below 4. My dr increased my dosage again to 75mcg. Soon after this increase I started noticing hives. Hives cover my torso, thighs, buttocks, and they are large welts, extremely itchy. I thought it was the levothyroxine so I switched to synthroid. This change had no effect. I saw an allergist and did a scratch test with everything coming back negative.
1063764 tn?1272821064 I do not have insurance and cannot afford to go back so soon. The reason I tried Tirosint and not levothyroxine or levoxyl is because I didn't feel they worked, I also broke out badly with them as well. When I got my last labs back, the T's were all in good standing and some lowered. However my calcium levels decreased, my endo refuses to believe it's due to that. I've always had good levels, until starting this medication. I'm not sure what to do...
1468158 tn?1363026295 Ok so I've been reading up on the different thyroid meds because I'm pretty sure I'm hypo I go to the dr. To test in a month but after all my research I'm pretty curious maybe someone could help me. I've read that insurance companies don't wanna pay for synthroid Instead most people have to take levothyroxine or levothyroxin. Either way, I'm curious as to how much more expensive is this synthroid to levothyroxine. If anyone knows.
Avatar f tn I have been taking levothyroxine 137 mcg once a day for a couple of years. Can I stop taking it all at once or do I gradually have to get off of it?
Avatar f tn I posted on 6/17/2015 regarding my concerns over having had one episode of AFib and being concerned with the levothyroxine causing another episode. The only TSH info I had at that time was that my level was 5.6. This was taken on 5/7/2015. I just received my lab results in the mail for blood work done on 6/11/2015. She ordered at Free T3 and T4 screening on this one. In my last post you requested the results. There was no ferritin tested and my vitamin D is ok.
Avatar n tn Does anyone take Levothyroxine and if so, what do you think of it? I have heard different things. The doctor just got me started on meds and this is what he wrote. just checking on others thoughts.
Avatar m tn He was started on a 50mg dose of levothyroxine . The difference of his over all health was amazing he began to feel hungry again his breathing improved. And he was becoming more active. After about 4_6 weeks he had another repeated blood test done to check his levels and surprisingly the doctor said that his thyroid still was not functioning properly and his dose of levothyroxine was increased to 100mg. This dose made him extremely sick. Bloated . Full of trapped air. Tired and constipated.
