Avatar n tn There is a difference in Generic Levothyroxine and Name Brand Like Synthroid, I went from 10mg to 25, 50, 75, and finally 100 mg of Levothyroxine (Generic) At that time I started seeing an Endo, He informed me that when it comes to thyroid meds, Generics are not as consistant as name brand meds, all during this prior period my symptoms were all over the place, they would stop for a few days then reappear and I would feel bad for two days, The Endo put me on a name brand (Synthroid) 100mg, at thi
Avatar f tn I went to the ER thinking I was having a heart attack. My doctor told me to lay off the Levothyroxine for about a month to see where we are. Testing my blood he seen that after 2 weeks of no thyroid meds I was in the correct range and also my sodium was below the low sodium level. I have been getting tired lately, so I tried to take a little Levothyroxine about 12.5 mcg to see if the symptoms came back. I did start feeling the chest pains and heat intolerance again.
Avatar f tn i am really concerned about my feet as they are constantly aching and the soles of my feet feel inflammed. i have been taking 125 levothyroxine for over 6 months now and thought that once i started taking the medication that this feeling would go. most of my other symptoms of hypothroidism have now gone, apart from the aching feet which is getting worse. so much so that it keeps me awake at nught and i dread getting up to do a days work with my achy feet.
Avatar m tn My dog has had hypothyroidism for several years and has been on 0.2 mg of Levothyroxine twice daily ever since. Recently, when they did a check on his T4 they found that it was low and they increased it immediately to 0.4 mg. A week or two later he began to significantly pant and wheeze. Then he decided to give him 150 mg of Theophylline twice daily. Could the thyroid dose change have caused these symptoms or is it a coincidence?
2208415 tn?1339081413 I think that my thyroid problems and all hormonal problems are not treated properly or I do not have a proper response to them....I am thinking about switching to Armour drug or some other thyroid drugs...I feel totally unwell and have no quality of life at all...I do not know what to do and what is causing these problem...I have been tested for some other diseases by my endocrynologist and she said that all other tests came as normal (for example 24 hours urine test etc.).
Avatar m tn Her husband is a pharmacist, and he says their is a difference between synthroid and levothyroxine, and insists that she stay on levothyroxine. Is there that much difference between the two? I would think that if you are on one or the other nad stay with it, it shouldn't matter.
Avatar m tn Would consider switching from the armour to levothyroxine, in few cases adding cytomel to levothyroxine may be helpful.
Avatar n tn Hello there, I am a 34 year old female who has had hypothyroid since the first of my first son in 2004. Since that diagnosis in October of 04, i have been on levothyroxine..the generic brand. My condition has been fine since finding the right level of medication....that is until i moved Doctors. My new doctor over this past summer thought i should go on the actual synthroid....he said it was better to be on that.
Avatar f tn NOT fun. Ever since Ive been on the Levothyroxine my swallowing issues have subsided. GERD can irritate your esophagus, so that would be the place to start, but if they can't attribute it to the GERD, I'd check the thyroid next.
Avatar m tn well i went to the dr and he put me on the 50 microgram and the 25 microgram taking them both at once the funny thing is im 4 weeks into taking both of these pills at the same time every morning with no problems or reactions to themi take both at 8 am in the morning and yet to have a problem with the two pills im taking thyroid level is 2.4 and holding can someone explain why im having no reaction to both of these pills im taking ???????
Avatar f tn my doctor told me that i have hyperthyroidism and put me on .05mg of levothyroxine to start with. i have read about alot of side affects and am worried about the hair loss and weight gain the most. anyone on this medication and can give me some feedback that would be great. i am already overweight, at 170 now i have gained almost 40 lbs in 4 years. my left eye is also larger than my right, she said it will get better with time.
Avatar f tn I'm on Levothyroxine and suffer the same problems you do. My doctor does listen to me. My best guess, handling the VA for my late dad in the past, push to get another doctor and the refer as well. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I had my near total thyroidectomy 3 months ago, I started on 50 mcg levothyroxine a month after surgery. On the 2nd month, i started getting mouth sores, other mouth discomforts and some glands inflammation. I started feeling paranoid and stressed along with all the other signs, fatigue, brain fog, etc. I wonder if these oral manifestations are really part of hypothyroidism. I had my TSH and FT4 tested. TSH was so off at 47.2 and FT4 was low at 0.481. FT3 was low too 0.942.
Avatar n tn How soon after ceasing taking Levothyroxine would the level show in the blood stream? My TSH came back at 1.189 after being off Levothyroxine for 48 hours. Is this result of the remaining Levothyroxine in my body or a fairly true 'natural' TSH level?

Avatar m tn Thanks Gibson 1 for your reply I to would have thought they would be a little bit more sensitive especially with these on going problems. When his levothyroxine was raised for the second time to 100 mg and the side effects was really bad I took my partner back to the doctors to make sure what he was going through was normal for that medicine our doctors reply was the tablet does not cause sickness or constipation it must be all the other tablets he takes .
Avatar f tn Her family doctor has placed her on the lowest dose of Effexor XR, Oxazepam, and Risperidol (as well as Levothyroxine, Calcium and various other vitamin pills). She has been on the three medications for almost two years. Many, many insignificant events and items cause her great distress. After the last surgery, she began to suffer panic attacks and is now agoraphobic. Two months ago, she started to hear "music" in her ears while sleeping causing great distress.
Avatar f tn I am now taking Levothyroxine 0.2mg a day, and have been on this for 6 months. (My pharmacist thinks this is way to high for me) My levels came back with a note from the lab to lower dose immediately as I was really, really high (highest being 23 I am a 48). The problem is I am still having all the same symptoms, my doctor says I should be skin and bones, fidgety, hyper, and hotter than normal.
Avatar f tn And I take Levothyroxine 75mg once daily. What do you take? Sounds like we have the same thyroid problem.
Avatar m tn I have been taking the medication for 3 and 1/2 months (before this I might have indigestion once or twice a year), and now I am experiencing heartburn two to three times per week, bloating, and more pronounced balance problems. Should I decrease the Levothyroxine to the original dosage or talk to the doctor about increasing the dosage?
617316 tn?1274867515 Hello, Has anyone tried to combine Armour with Levothyroxine? I have been taking Levothyroxine for 2 years and still have many symptoms e.g. extreme tiredness, sore mucsles, brittle nails, dry lips, mouth ulcers etc. My TSH has never been normal ranging from 7.5 to -0.1 but never the dose my doctor wants me to get to which is 0.6. I want to experiment with Armour but my doctor will not prescribe it for me so I have bought it over the internet.
Avatar f tn I started taking the thyroid medication levothyroxine about 5 months ago, and for a while now I have been feeling like something has been pushing on my neck. It mainly happens at night and I was wondering if this was normal or if I should talk to my doctor or what.
Avatar f tn Interestingly enough I have vestibular testing next month and he said if the testing is negative he will be referring me to NIH so someone can figure out what is causing all these problems to hit me at the same time. I appreciate everyones replies. Thank you.
Avatar f tn Saw my Opthomologist and she took different test and checked me over very thoroughly. She felt that my Thyroid could have a lot to do with my eye problems and also mentioned the possibility that it could be a neurological/optical problem. She's going to do a field of vision on my eyes to see if I still have the range of vision. Basically, she's saying it's either caused by an Endocrine problem or a Neurological problem.
