Levothyroxine po to iv conversion

Common Questions and Answers about Levothyroxine po to iv conversion

synthroid

Avatar f tn To reduce the risk of an error, prescribers should print all orders for Lanoxin and levothyroxine and include the purpose for each drug on all prescriptions. Both the mg dose and the mcg conversion should be listed in all levothyroxine orders and on product labels, such as "levothyroxine 100 mcg (0.1 mg)" or "Synthroid 0.1 mg (100 mcg).
Avatar f tn Nature-throid is now available and will be available. I need to know the conversion from Synthroid 400 mg per wk (7 days) to Nature-throid.
1176841 tn?1330832460 I take 100mcg Levothyroxine daily, my entire thyroid was removed in 2001 due to 9 nodules on it. I have been having severe swelling issues for which they can't find a cause so they tested my thyroid. My TSH was only 0.02 and the T4 Free was 1.7. What does this mean? I also have Hashimotos. Any help will be appreciated. I am female, 56yrs old TC147, HDL 69, LDL 70, Trigs 77. Weight 150 at 5'6". Not expecting all parts removed.
Avatar f tn I am going to ask my Dr to increase my T4 meds to 137 mcg to bring my TSH down , as I am having some symptoms of hypo : fatique, irritability, constipation etc. I know that it would be possible to add T3 to my meds, but I would rather try to fix the conversion problem if I can. Does anyone have info, or experience with this situation. Thank you.
Avatar m tn Selenium has been shown to help with the conversion of T4 to T3, so it might be helpful. I take it daily. No, it should not be taken with other meds. I take it at bedtime. Levothyroxine should be taken first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach, with a full cup of water; then nothing to eat or drink for at least 30-60 minutes. Your thybon could be taken soon after the levo; however, all other medications, should be separated by at least a couple hours from the levo.
Avatar f tn 100mcg of levothyroxine is about 60mg of armour -- you need to work with a doctor to make sure the conversion works out for you and that labs are appropriate.
Avatar n tn Be aware that whatever dosage you switch to, to minimize any possible reaction to the change, I would not make the change all at once. I would make the change in two stages. Further, whatever T3 meds you take, due to the quick effect of T3, you should split the dose into half, and take in the morning and early afternoon.
Avatar f tn About 2 years ago my doctor put me on 200mcg of levothyroxine. I recently had my lab work done and am confused with the numbers. My question is, with these numbers... shouldn't I be hyperthyroidism: Lab numbers are: T4 total 10.5 T3 Free Tsh 0.04 Thyroglobulin is 20H My doctor wrote on the lab that it was a bad conversion. I can't get into see him for 2 weeks and want if you can explain what these lab #'s mean. I would really appreciate it.
Avatar f tn Thus when taking T4 med, like Levo, the reduced level of TSH typically causes reduced conversion of T4 to T3. Even by taking the med in a single dose, as compared to a continuous low flow in the natural state, it spikes FT4 for a short time and suppresses TSH for most of the day., making TSH an inaccurate diagnostic during treatment.
Avatar m tn In other words, it can take a long time to get out of your system. However, amio impacts conversion of T4 to T3 because of its effects on the enzymes that catalyze the conversion (deiodinases). Amio doesn't really wreck your thyroid. Conversion happens outside the thyroid. Do you have FT3 and FT4 results (with reference ranges)? If so, please post. How much levo do your take? Do you have symptoms?
1680073 tn?1305637145 Keep in mind that I have found FT3 to lag behind a little (conversion has to ramp up once FT4 levels are adequate). Once your FT4 is adequate, you can start comparing FT3 to FT4. You have to do this as a percentage of range, not raw numbers (we can help if you post your results with ranges). Labs also often improve before symptoms completely go away (our bodies need time to heal). This is a process, especially at the beginning. When are you due for labs?

Avatar f tn Sorry you don't feel well. I didn't like the levothyroxine either. I had severe chest pain all the time with it. You may want to talk to your doc about conversion issues. Hashi's is no fun when you go into the hyper mode. You should always take your meds regardless how you feel. I know I just want to quit taking them all, but I have to admit switching did seem to help a little. I am on armour now. Body is adjusting slowly.

Avatar m tn He has started the treatment with the initial dosage of 25mcg of Levothyroxine hoping to decrease TSH level and testosterone. If there is no change in 3months he may refer to Endocrinologist. Will Levothyroxine supplies the missing thyroid harmone or will it prevents the further damage to Thyroid?.
640719 tn?1277140030 Thanks Goolarra! Doc said starting a bit low to begin... he didn't want to shock my body with this new type of med. Looks like he's on track! Is this conversion chart online here somewhere? Thxs bunches!
Avatar f tn Low levels of TSH, ferritin and selenium, adversely affect the conversion of T4 to T3. There is nothing to be done about the TSH effect, but you can test and supplement ferritin and selenium as necessary to try and assist conversion. It is very important for a hypothryoid patient to test and optimize ferritin, Vitamin D and B12 levels.. D should be about 55-60, B12 in the upper end of its range, and ferritin about 60 minimum for ladies.
894666 tn?1274097896 I have hashimoto's and was on 50 mcg levothyroxine. 6 weeks ago had increase to 75 mcg because GYN and Endo believed my anemia and bleeding problems were thyroid related and TSH had gone up. 6 days ago increased to 88 mcg. Yesterday at GYN appt I was told I have high blood pressure, which I have never had before. It has always been normal. I also suddenly feel shaky and have a little chest pain. Do you think this could be from the increase from 75 to 88?
