Avatar f tn My sister was perscribed .50 mcg of levothyroxine. Instead, the pharmacist gave her 150mcg of it. After three months, she was feeling awful, Ached all over had a fever and much more. What advise can I give her and what kind of doctor does she need to see to get better? The GP that put her on it is giving her prednisone to make her feel better but as soon as she goes off of it the fever and pain come back and she is having awful effects of the prednisone. Pleas help!
Avatar f tn It sounded like a bit much to me, but I did it anyway, for 2 days. I came down with symptoms of an overdose of Levothyroxine, called a 24/7 nurse hotline, and was instructed to call Poison Control. My doctor won't be back in her office until Monday....

Avatar f tn My mail order pharmacy sent me 0.75mg of levothyroxine instead of the 0.75mcg which is the correct dosage, I have taken almost the entire bottle, I need a refill this how I noticed the dosage was wrong. Is there a big difference between mcg and mg? Could this be harmful?

Avatar n tn I am taking iron tablets and along with that, my doctor prescribed Levothyroxine 112 MCG to start with. I got an allergic reaction. My doctor thought that it could be due to overdose. She lowered the dosage to 25 MCG. I had the same allergic reaction (runny nose, rashes all over my face, sore throat, dizziness). So, this time, the pharmacist thought that the allergic reaction might be due to lactose as I am lactose intolerant, and the dyes in the medication. (Artificial colors.
Avatar m tn What do you think of my symptoms? Can an overdose of levothyroxine (as FT4 level suggest) be responsible for heart palps, sweating and low potassium? What should I do now? I stopped taking levothyroxine right now as I have never had any problems with my heart or whatsoever. I hate those palps cause they destroy my life. How can I adjust levothyroxine and what tests should I do if the TSH is normal but symptoms are rather hyper. Help!
1139187 tn?1355706647 What it is saying, Bruce is that people who deliberately overdose on it will need charcoal and stomach pumping, not people who inadvertantly take too much. Those people can usually stop for a week or reduce their dose. The dosages for over 50 is standard with most medications. Older patients tend to have issues with medication for various aging reasons. Don't panic when you read all the insert info. I downloaded it and had a good look. It is standard procedure to list all that they do.
Avatar m tn Hi. I've been on these boards a long time. My last failed treatment had to fail because about 9 weeks into the treatment, I developed retinal hemmorhaging. My husband (we've divorced now, but not because of this). He had to do my shot that night into the back of the forearm because I felt so awful. As he prepared the medication, I had to keep correcting what he was doing.
Avatar f tn My doctor suspected an allergic response to the desiccated thyroid medication and switched me to 125 mcg levothyroxine in summer 2012. I enjoyed an overall improvement in my health and energy although a family member commented that I was sometimes irritable. In October 2013 my doctor became concerned about elevated rT3 and lowered the levothyroxine to 88 mcg/day. I gradually stopped jogging but would describe the quality of this dose as low adequate.
Avatar f tn A lot depends upon your general health. An overdose could cause cardiac problems, high blood pressure, arythmias and confusion. If you catch the problem immediately, drink water and induce vomiting by placing your finger in the back of your throat. If taken on an empty stomach the tablets dissolve rather quickly. The question of "dangerousness" is complicated. The answer is "maybe yes" and "maybe no".
Avatar f tn If by "conventional treatment" you are referring to levothyroxine, I don't think you have much to fear. It doesn't have side effects the way most other drugs do since it's a synthetic version of a hormone your body should already be making (but isn't making enough of if you have thyroid disease). You might have "side effects" if you take too much, but typically people are started on a low dose which is gradually increased.
1038948 tn?1252943511 17 , a huge jump from my normal level of 1.5. He put me on Levothyroxine .1mg in Feb 2009. My subsequent blood tests show that my TSH level has been slowly decreasing, from .24 to .11 to .07 and my doctor has reluctantly and after much insistence from myself decreased my Levothyroxine to .075 mg. I say that I have been insistent because despite my best efforts ( running 3 miles a day plus freeweights etc. and watching my diet, I have not been able to lose the weight.
Avatar m tn Can someone give me either the symptoms or the timeline for an Ibuprofen overdose? And what's going to happen if I don't get treatment? I've taken approx. 40 200mg ibuprofen tablets, 32 hours ago.
Avatar n tn I overdosed two days ago on ibuprofen and still feel off. Should I seek treatment? Would it still help? Would I be a suicide risk?
