synthroid

Avatar n tn I have been taking levothyroxine for 4 months now. Will I see any boost in my metabolism soon? I have been trying to lose weight, and can only seem to take of pounds (5 in 9 months) by doing excessive cardio (2 hours per day). I am eating between 1500-2000 calories per day and sleeping a lot, like 9 hours every night. Is there any hope or piece of mind for me?
Avatar m tn vit D and other vitamin pills I read it was ok to take it at night. My question - I finish eating around 6pm. I have been taking night pill around 8pm. Is this enough time between eating and taking pill? Appreciate your help.
Avatar f tn When I started, I was also taking bioidentical progesterone, estrogen mix and DHEA to control hot flashes and night sweats, which it was doing very well. Once levothyroxine came in, the flashes and night sweats came back with a vengeance and I had trouble sleeping.
Avatar m tn My dog has had hypothyroidism for several years and has been on 0.2 mg of Levothyroxine twice daily ever since. Recently, when they did a check on his T4 they found that it was low and they increased it immediately to 0.4 mg. A week or two later he began to significantly pant and wheeze. Then he decided to give him 150 mg of Theophylline twice daily. Could the thyroid dose change have caused these symptoms or is it a coincidence?
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with hypothyroid less then a week ago and started taking Levothyroxine 50mcg and 2 hrs after I take the meds my heart races and feels like its literally going to pound its way out of my chest. I phoned my Dr with my concerns and she told me that it takes time for your body to adjust and to keep taking it until I'm re-tested in 6 weeks. My chest now hurts and I am afraid to take the meds. Anyone else have this issue?
1435317 tn?1283599577 Levothyroxine is T4. It must be converted to T3 for the body to use. There may be many reasons it is not being converted. From what I have found out, very few Hash. are able to convert it. Low cortisol is only one factor, low oxygen uptake in the cells is another, but I seldom see that even mentioned, much less addressed, and there are many other factors as well. Many Hash. do well on desicated thyroid (Armour is the scrip. but other brands may be found OTC).
Avatar n tn 2 years ago I was prescribed levothyroxine for an underactive thryoid. I did some research and found Selenium to be good for thyroid problems. I take 1 tablet of Selenium, Kelp and Vit C in the morning and 1 tablet of Potassium, Vit B12, Magnesium and Calcium at night. I have had 5 blood tests and ALL say my throid is fine yet I haven't taken one of the levothyroxine tablets yet!
Avatar n tn What I do is take my levothyroxine in the middle of the night when I get up to go to the bathroom. I just lay it out before going to bed with a half-glass of water so I can take with almost without having to fully wake up.
332168 tn?1201026915 Hello all, I haven't written in a while as I felt so poorly. I don't know what is wrong with me. I am taking my meds and I still feel bad. It's hard to put my finger on symptoms as they are so generalized. I can't concentrate, feel so sluggish I can barely get myself to work, my eyes are feeling foggy/blurry, can't sleep at night, etc. I called my Endo and he added Cytomel to be taken along with the Synthroid. I thought to be a bit strange but he is the Dr.
Avatar f tn 3rd morn vertigo,5th night also woke me up at 3 AM. I had thoght the levo100mcg must be too high so I dosed on a multi-vit 1 hr. after for the last 3 morns. Called endo had bl test. TSH.85, T4-151 both WNL, but T4 was higher than it was in the entire 10 years of sub clin hyper. Heart palps stopped extreme heat intollerance started for 1 mo. Called endo to reduce levo to 88mcg. Heat somewhat diminished. 1 mo later Heart arrhythmia started.
Avatar m tn The doctor put me on Levothyroxine, and now after 3 and a half months, I have indigestion approximately 3 times a week, bloated stomach, and balance problems. Why should I take this medication when before I started taking it, I had no symtoms? Can I stop taking this medication? I'm thinking that perhaps I was born with this thyroid problem, and it was not a problem until I started taking the medication.
Avatar n tn I left my prescription of levothyroxine in the car last night. Temps dropped to 40F last night. Will my levo be ok?
Avatar f tn “Bowel motility is slower at night,” which means that it takes longer for the levothyroxine tablet to transit through the intestinal system, resulting in longer exposure to the intestinal wall, and therefore, better uptake of the medication. The conversion process of T4 to T3 may be more effective in the evening.
Avatar n tn im so confused , i have been diagnosed with hashimotos, and yet i cannot take the levothyroxine, it makes me deftly iff, its like the doctors think im making up the side effects, i have a fairly large goiter, and once in awhile my voice is raspy. will some one try to explain, what they think is going on here . my quality of life is awful, and im so tired and sleep quite a bit, i also had night sweats and heart palpitations with the levothyroxine.
544430 tn?1283712658 Can anyone tell me if their are any side effects from taking Levothyroxine,i am on ...50 MICROGRAMS, per day,,,18mths ago i started with Excema,,i also have a cough now and then sometimes i wake up at night coughing ,,I am also taken 5MG Ramipril per day ............Could it be the Ramipril ?????
Avatar f tn felt both were on the low side so he upped my Armour to 0.5GR twice in the AM and once at night. Does this sound like the correct thing to do based on my blood test ? In addition, there has been a shortage of Armour lately and the formula has changed in the pill, so my DR wrote me an RX for cytomel 5mcg twice in the AM and levothyroxine 0.
Avatar m tn Hi guys, Well I am back on my meds after my 3 weeks stint without levothyroxine and had my 27mci RAI.. I rang my endo to find out should I be taking my normal meds 150mg and I am now hearing that he told me that I should double meds to 300mg.. What's with that?? What is going on?
Avatar m tn I wake up during the night with an intense, bone-deep COLD feeling. My teeth are chattering and I cannot seem to get warm. I'll be so cold that I can't even bring myself to get up and get another blanket. I'll curl up in a ball under the covers, shivering, and praying to get warm. I've never in my life experienced such a thing. It's awful. (I live in the northern U.S.
Avatar m tn 0 while T-4 and T-3 were normal in 2007 and I started taking Levothyroxine 50 MCG daily since then. My TSH level stayed down at 3.79 (April, 2009) and 4.41 (August, 2009) which were normal. Is my daily taking of 50 MCG over dose? The reason prompts me to ask the question is to learn, if any, the subsequent side effect of a possible over dose to my recent sleeping problem in the last three months. Am I becoming a Hyper now and over excited in my body system that casued me the sleeping problem?
Avatar m tn I know im in the wrong forum but would like to know if you know about high blood pressure and hypothyroidism. My Tsh level was around 8 and my bp was 150 over 90. I am on levothyroxine 50 mcg and taking blood pressure pills 2 a day. I am 24 years old and have high both of these issues.I have no sex drive or desire at all.I dont get any morning or night erections and erections are to weak for penetration.
Avatar n tn i was off the levothyroxine for a few days and started the synthroid last night, and i am still having terrible indigestion, today being the worst day so far. is this normal, and does levothyroxine stay in your system enough that after a couple of days without taking it, i'd still have the indigestion?
Avatar f tn But these spasms and seizures may last for the whole night. The day I forget to take levothyroxine I have no incidences. Also by the time I started levothyroxine (and by the time the incidences started) I have developed an intolerence in foods and drinks that are taste enhancered. This intolerence also leads to spasms and to small seizures.
Avatar f tn I've got Hashimoto's and a multi-nodular goitre and am on levothyroxine for hypothyroidism. Occasionally (every couple of months or so) I get periods of a few days when I get night sweats (wake up to find myself drenched) or have hot flushes or palpitations at night. Could this be caused by fluctuations in my thyroid levels - either from the Hashimotos or the nodules?
Avatar f tn I have been taking levothyroxine 137 mcg once a day for a couple of years. Can I stop taking it all at once or do I gradually have to get off of it?
