Avatar f tn I currently take 300mcg of Levothyroxin and 25mcg of Cytomel, and have for years. Ive gained a huge amount of weight, hoarse voice, annoying cough, dry skin, you name it, Ive got it kinda thing. Im so frustrated, I had to have a hysterectomy due to heavy bleeding 3 years ago. I also have symptoms of both hypo and hyper. Im getting a second opinion next month, but Im at my wits end. My joints hurt so bad some days its a challenge to walk. Any advice?
Avatar f tn Ive heard of this med called, armour. Would this help with losing weight and improve over all condition? Or is adding t3 along with levo be beneficial? If so, what t3 would be recommended? Please, help!
6224500 tn?1388947668 s I have not gained any weight through my illness and I worry that the higher the dose of Levothyroxine the more weight I may lose. * I stopped it for a brief period a few weeks ago and my TSH went down to 2.7 from 4.6 (0.27-4.2) on its own. So the thyroid must still be working, surely?| * I lost the outer third of my eyebrows after taking them. * I don't feel any better on the dose I am on.
Avatar f tn Hi,I've been taking Levothyroxine Na (Euthyrox ) for many years, i'm afraid that the decreasing hemoglobin and gaining weight DESPITE of my diet control are the side-effects of prolong intake of this medicines. Do i need to refer it with my Endocrinologist? so that she will change my medicines? , because according to her its a life-time intake of medicines...please advise!!
Avatar f tn I have not lost any weight since learning I had hypothyroidism and began taking levothyroxine. Are you using BMI suggest you are "almost there"? If so, I think you might rethink that given your activity level. It is a less accurate measure for athletes. As far as losing weight, it really all comes down to calories in and calories out.
Avatar f tn Thanks for response. He is not losing weight or gaining either. No sign of fatigue. Is there any general medication (some tablets) that can help for this TSH level?
475407 tn?1228535523 As for the weight issue - I too am waiting to see how long it wil lcome off - I have only been recently diagnosed (April 08) and so am excited at the prospect of losing a little of the weight I have gained as a result of the Hashimoto's that I have. Let me know how you get on !
Avatar f tn Good morning I have a thyroid problem I was diagnosed a month, since then I am taking levothyroxine 25mg. I'm losing hair with peeled about two months and my doctor says it is caused by the thyroid. But I have noticed that since I started taking this medicine suits me more hair and I'm gaining weight just in time quite sometimes feel very dizzy. I am aware that these side effects and normal in this type of treatment. Could you tell me if will always be so?
534785 tn?1329592208 My doctor seems to think that because I still exhibit a lot of hypothyroid symptoms—fatigue, brittle nails, dry skin, trouble losing weight—that my dose should be slowly increased until my symptoms disappear (despite TSH being very low and T4/FT4 holding steady). This presents an issue as I also have a genetic heart arrhythmia, RVOT Ventricular Tachycardia.
Avatar f tn Please post your thyroid related test results and their reference ranges shown on the lab report. Also, please tell us about any other symptoms you have.
Avatar f tn also i have been really constipated now since this all started does that stop me from losing weight.
Avatar f tn If you are taking levothyroxine, I would stay away from products like "thyroid complex". If it works at all, it will mess up your med dosage. No disrespect to Totie, but I would prefer a name brand T4 to generic. I have no doubt she has done very well with the generic, but neither my GP nor my Endo would perscribe a generic T4 med. When it comes to other drugs, my GP often perscribes a generic, but not when it comes to the thyroid.
Avatar n tn I initially went to see my doctor because I was losing weight, but was diagnosed as being hypothyroid. I'm having regular blood tests, and am now on 88mg of levothyroxine, but still have to eat all the time to maintain my weight. I can't seem to find any advice on weight loss with this condition, so any information would be very helptful.
1052292 tn?1274457092 She also gave me some great tips for losing weight which have helped me a lot. She herself probably weighs about 100 lbs. soaking wet so I figured she knows what she's talking about. :-) Thanks for your advice.
Avatar n tn hi l am taking these also but l am a chubby person but have not put any weight on l heard you lose weight l am still waiting only been on them for 3 months but not feeling any better myself l take mine first thing morning
Avatar n tn I have been taking levothyroxine for 4 months now. Will I see any boost in my metabolism soon? I have been trying to lose weight, and can only seem to take of pounds (5 in 9 months) by doing excessive cardio (2 hours per day). I am eating between 1500-2000 calories per day and sleeping a lot, like 9 hours every night. Is there any hope or piece of mind for me?
Avatar f tn Hi, over the past week or so I've noticed a change in my appetite when I've been wanting to eat more. I can't seem to gain weight as what I eat I oddly burn off some other way and I've been more constipated than usual. Could this be from my Hashimoto's or am I on too much Levothyroxine? I'm on 125mcg per day and my doctor increased it back in August.
Avatar f tn I am losing hair by the hand fulls, and I can not stop gaining weight. I continued to gain weight after my dose was raised in 12/10. Plus I have some hoarsness, extremely dry skin and brittle nails. Could raising my dose and not seeing any improvement be an indication that the cancer is back? If not, then what would it mean to raise a dose and nothing happen? I take my levothyroxine every morning at the same time and on an empty stomach.
Avatar n tn It might not be COMMON to lose weight, but I can tell you first hand that in the last year i have lost close to 15 lbs. I have not changed my eating habits and if anything i am exercising less... I think that weather you have weight loss or gain depends on many factors... such as what your body type is. I was always a very skinny child with a high metabolism. I can lose weight pretty easily and as i've been feeling worse with my Hashi's i've been losing weight.
Avatar f tn I am still feeling some signs of hypothyroidism like not losing weight especially in the middle (despite excellent diet and exercise for a very long time), feeling fatigued mid afternoon on, some confusion and memory issues, hair loss, and achy stiff muscles/joints especially in calves and knees. I am 53 and my menstrual cycles have disappeared also.
Avatar f tn my doctor told me that i have hyperthyroidism and put me on .05mg of levothyroxine to start with. i have read about alot of side affects and am worried about the hair loss and weight gain the most. anyone on this medication and can give me some feedback that would be great. i am already overweight, at 170 now i have gained almost 40 lbs in 4 years. my left eye is also larger than my right, she said it will get better with time.
Avatar f tn Diagnosed Graves Disease in 1992. Had RAI in 1997. Hypo since then. But after 2 major surgeries now am hyperthyroid again. Primary care dr increased my levothyroxine from 175mcg to 200mcg and I feel worse than ever. Isn't my medication supposed to be lower? So confused. And losing weight, irritable, not eating, not sleeping, very hyper. Help!!
Avatar f tn when my third child was 8 months old i realised i was LOSING alot of weight. After seeing my GP who thought i was overactive and after various blood tests including antibodies, to everyones surprise i was seriously UNDERACTIVE. A few months later i was started on levothyroxine and this worked well for years. I gained a bit of weight but remained at this stable weight for a few more years even after the birth of another 2 children!! Around 18 months ago i started to GAIN weight excessively!
999838 tn?1299103020 THe TSH is slightly high but the trend is suggesting new onset thyroid disease since april -- it is likely Hashimoto's. There may be some weight gain/difficulty losing weight -- but this is usually more than just thyroid, so correcting the thyroid may not automatically correct/address the weight. Using levothyroxine is the standard of care in these cases -- consider an endocrine evaluation to confirm.
Avatar f tn Does anyone have any success stories about losing weight after being put on Synthroid? I would like to hear some encouraging words. I have gained 50 pds. and are miserable. I have not been on meds long enough to tell any difference in energy or hunger, but I am hopeing there will be some difference in the future.
