Avatar f tn The LD50 for Water is 90g/kg. But when does nerve damage occur, if you trink too much water at once? When does it become toxic? Empirical data is also appreciated...
Avatar f tn However, Italian researchers have found that the LD50 (the lethal dose at which half of the animals die) of glucosamine sulfate is 8000 mg/kg. In humans this would be equivalent to ingesting over 500,000 mg at one time or 1,000 pills each containing 500 mg. I hope this is useful... I got the idea from the site that max safe dose is 1500mg, and your dog had twice that much. You may want to see the vet anyway, even tho it says in the previous paragraph that a lethal dose is 8000mg.
Avatar n tn my dad is 83 yrs old, has emphysema, copd everything...hes on ox, however he still struggles to breathe, won't allow anyone to go into the doctors office with him ! I know he is in stage 4, how long does that last? its been like this for a couple of years, he has difficulty even walking across the room and says that its a task to urinate. is there anything we can do as a family to make him more comfortable?
Avatar n tn opiates will make your spew, but i dont think the codeine even in high doses makes you sick, iv had 240mg of codeine before and it just makes you feel real high for a couple of hours, ulcers would be causing him pain,so im not so sure if its ulcers.HOw many is he taking at one time?
Avatar m tn This only becomes an issue if you are taking mega-doses of those vitamins and lose a lot of weight - suddenly, your body could be overdosed - there is an LD50 listing for vitamin A of 2000 mg/kg - LD = lethal dose, LD50 = 50% of the population will die at that dose, 2000 milligrams per kilogram of body weight. Anyone who tells you that herbs will not hurt you is just wrong.
Avatar f tn I have been taking levothyroxine 137 mcg once a day for a couple of years. Can I stop taking it all at once or do I gradually have to get off of it?
Avatar f tn I posted on 6/17/2015 regarding my concerns over having had one episode of AFib and being concerned with the levothyroxine causing another episode. The only TSH info I had at that time was that my level was 5.6. This was taken on 5/7/2015. I just received my lab results in the mail for blood work done on 6/11/2015. She ordered at Free T3 and T4 screening on this one. In my last post you requested the results. There was no ferritin tested and my vitamin D is ok.
Avatar n tn Does anyone take Levothyroxine and if so, what do you think of it? I have heard different things. The doctor just got me started on meds and this is what he wrote. just checking on others thoughts.
Avatar m tn He was started on a 50mg dose of levothyroxine . The difference of his over all health was amazing he began to feel hungry again his breathing improved. And he was becoming more active. After about 4_6 weeks he had another repeated blood test done to check his levels and surprisingly the doctor said that his thyroid still was not functioning properly and his dose of levothyroxine was increased to 100mg. This dose made him extremely sick. Bloated . Full of trapped air. Tired and constipated.
Avatar m tn The doctor put me on Levothyroxine, and now after 3 and a half months, I have indigestion approximately 3 times a week, bloated stomach, and balance problems. Why should I take this medication when before I started taking it, I had no symtoms? Can I stop taking this medication? I'm thinking that perhaps I was born with this thyroid problem, and it was not a problem until I started taking the medication.
Avatar m tn ive missed my medication. levothyroxine for 10 days. what side affects should i experience? i feel lethargic and have been vomitting ? is this to be expected?
Avatar f tn Hello, I was diagnosed with thyroiditis and after going from hyperthyroidism to hypothyroidism I was put on 75mg of levothyroxine than my doctor said to only take half a dosage and now I've been off the medication for 6 days I was supposed to be done with treatment but ever since I stopped the medication I've been feeling dizzy again and exhausted my hair is falling out again my hands are shaking I have cold feet and nausea I told my doctor but he says I'm fine I was wondering could
Avatar n tn without know you history I will say that you need to be on the levo for the rest of your life Your dose needs tweaking from time to time You realy should be have blood testsdat least every 3 months.I would suspect your illness is not from the levo but your dose needs to be tweaked and get you on the right dosage. In my case I have lost 22 pounds and I was on too high a dosage so I had blood labs and sure enough I needed to lower my dose of the levo.
Avatar n tn I have been taking levothyroxine for 4 months now. Will I see any boost in my metabolism soon? I have been trying to lose weight, and can only seem to take of pounds (5 in 9 months) by doing excessive cardio (2 hours per day). I am eating between 1500-2000 calories per day and sleeping a lot, like 9 hours every night. Is there any hope or piece of mind for me?
Avatar f tn my doctor told me that i have hyperthyroidism and put me on .05mg of levothyroxine to start with. i have read about alot of side affects and am worried about the hair loss and weight gain the most. anyone on this medication and can give me some feedback that would be great. i am already overweight, at 170 now i have gained almost 40 lbs in 4 years. my left eye is also larger than my right, she said it will get better with time.
Avatar m tn My dog has had hypothyroidism for several years and has been on 0.2 mg of Levothyroxine twice daily ever since. Recently, when they did a check on his T4 they found that it was low and they increased it immediately to 0.4 mg. A week or two later he began to significantly pant and wheeze. Then he decided to give him 150 mg of Theophylline twice daily. Could the thyroid dose change have caused these symptoms or is it a coincidence?

Avatar f tn Do I take Levothyroxine when my TSH is 0.66, total T4 is 5.6 and T3 uptake is 33.4%? I think I might be hyperthyroid, not hypothyroid. I have to take metoclopramide for stomach dilation and I take Diazapam plus other meds on the very long list of containdicated medications. Does anyone know?
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with hypothyroid less then a week ago and started taking Levothyroxine 50mcg and 2 hrs after I take the meds my heart races and feels like its literally going to pound its way out of my chest. I phoned my Dr with my concerns and she told me that it takes time for your body to adjust and to keep taking it until I'm re-tested in 6 weeks. My chest now hurts and I am afraid to take the meds. Anyone else have this issue?
Avatar f tn I started taking levothyroxine as my doctor thinks I could be developing hypothyroidism. I have taken it now for two days, is it normal to feel fluish symptoms and have headaches/achy feeling? If so how long can I expect it to last.
Avatar n tn whats the best time of taking levothyroxine tablets have been taking at bed time and i have gained weight
Avatar m tn I know that this forum isn't adequate for my question but I am new to this site please forgive me for this. I am 17 years old, and 80 kg. My issue is I have just taken accidentally 10 grams of paracetamol aka acetaminophen I've just read that the ld50 is >250mg/kg so by this it means that the dose for me to die is 20 grams. Will I be safe for the next 24 hours because I can't seek any medical help for this time, what should I do? I am really scared.
