Avatar n tn I had a Radioactive Iodine treatment 19 years ago which killed my thyroid, and I had been taking Levothyroxine ever since, until 9/09 when I had kidney stones and a bad kidney infection and was in the hospital in intensive care for a week and off all medication. Since then, my T3 and T4 levels have been all messed up and my Dr. has been trying every combination to get me balanced since then, but has not yet got my system right yet.
474189 tn?1211184460 Have recently been diagnosed with Hashi and have started on levothyroxine but I have noticed since I started taking it that I get chronic heartburn - especially at night making it difficult to sleep, but it attacks me at any time of the day and it gets so bad I just want to curl up in a ball and tell the world to go away ! Does anyone have this problem, is it a common side affect, will it stop as my body gets used to taking the meds or should I be revisiting my GP?
6320170 tn?1380347497 Which I did the following monday. My primary gave me levothyroxine , a referal for Endo and obgyn specialist and sent me home. By that night this was 8/7/2013. I had to return back to the ER. where they were first concerned that I was on the wrong medication for my grave disease. But then realized the previous Dr. Had made a mistake. I had Hypothyroidism, And a UTI. They told me to continue my levothyroxine that I had just started that day.
Avatar f tn Since I quite racing, I stopped using it. I have since had a kidney stone 3 years ago. I am currently battling hives that no dermatologist nor allergist understand. I do take levothyroxine for hypothyroidism. I do not feel that I have any symptoms of kidney problems, but could I get hives from this long term, heavy use of Lasix? I've never spoken of this to a doctor.
Avatar f tn What hormone replacement are you taking, and what are your test scores looking like?
2062492 tn?1377038256 I had my right kidney and adrenal removed as well as part of my liver and appendix. I had 13 months of chemo and radiation. I recently found out I have hypothyroidism with a tsh level of 62.05 in January. In February my number was still 37. I'm on levothyroxine and they will test again this month to up my dosage. Can anyone tell me how concerned I should be about my whole endocrine system???? I am currently waiting to get in to see an endocrinologist but it could be at least a month!
Avatar n tn Hi, I'm an 18 year old male who has had chronic constipation for 1 year. A few months after my constipation started, I also started having "UTIs" very frequently, even though I am not sexually active and I maintain good hygiene down there. After about my 6th "UTI" in a row in just several months, I decided to just stop taking the antibiotics. Just days later the pain went away and the symptoms were gone. Then they came back about a week later.
Avatar n tn An ablation with I-131 is not likely to help -- unless you have an overactive nodule(s) that have been treated with levothyroxine (which should be avoided in cases of overactive nodules). The nodule needs to be addressed first, then the question of whether or not you need medication and if the thyroid function is normal or abnormal - ie, are the fatigue, weight and high cholesterol due to a thyroid problem? Would be happy to consult - I have several patients from the Tampa Bay area.
Avatar f tn I have been taking levothyroxine 137 mcg once a day for a couple of years. Can I stop taking it all at once or do I gradually have to get off of it?
Avatar f tn I posted on 6/17/2015 regarding my concerns over having had one episode of AFib and being concerned with the levothyroxine causing another episode. The only TSH info I had at that time was that my level was 5.6. This was taken on 5/7/2015. I just received my lab results in the mail for blood work done on 6/11/2015. She ordered at Free T3 and T4 screening on this one. In my last post you requested the results. There was no ferritin tested and my vitamin D is ok.
Avatar n tn Does anyone take Levothyroxine and if so, what do you think of it? I have heard different things. The doctor just got me started on meds and this is what he wrote. just checking on others thoughts.
Avatar m tn He was started on a 50mg dose of levothyroxine . The difference of his over all health was amazing he began to feel hungry again his breathing improved. And he was becoming more active. After about 4_6 weeks he had another repeated blood test done to check his levels and surprisingly the doctor said that his thyroid still was not functioning properly and his dose of levothyroxine was increased to 100mg. This dose made him extremely sick. Bloated . Full of trapped air. Tired and constipated.
Avatar m tn The doctor put me on Levothyroxine, and now after 3 and a half months, I have indigestion approximately 3 times a week, bloated stomach, and balance problems. Why should I take this medication when before I started taking it, I had no symtoms? Can I stop taking this medication? I'm thinking that perhaps I was born with this thyroid problem, and it was not a problem until I started taking the medication.
Avatar m tn ive missed my medication. levothyroxine for 10 days. what side affects should i experience? i feel lethargic and have been vomitting ? is this to be expected?
Avatar f tn Hello, I was diagnosed with thyroiditis and after going from hyperthyroidism to hypothyroidism I was put on 75mg of levothyroxine than my doctor said to only take half a dosage and now I've been off the medication for 6 days I was supposed to be done with treatment but ever since I stopped the medication I've been feeling dizzy again and exhausted my hair is falling out again my hands are shaking I have cold feet and nausea I told my doctor but he says I'm fine I was wondering could
Avatar n tn without know you history I will say that you need to be on the levo for the rest of your life Your dose needs tweaking from time to time You realy should be have blood testsdat least every 3 months.I would suspect your illness is not from the levo but your dose needs to be tweaked and get you on the right dosage. In my case I have lost 22 pounds and I was on too high a dosage so I had blood labs and sure enough I needed to lower my dose of the levo.
Avatar n tn I have been taking levothyroxine for 4 months now. Will I see any boost in my metabolism soon? I have been trying to lose weight, and can only seem to take of pounds (5 in 9 months) by doing excessive cardio (2 hours per day). I am eating between 1500-2000 calories per day and sleeping a lot, like 9 hours every night. Is there any hope or piece of mind for me?

Avatar m tn My dog has had hypothyroidism for several years and has been on 0.2 mg of Levothyroxine twice daily ever since. Recently, when they did a check on his T4 they found that it was low and they increased it immediately to 0.4 mg. A week or two later he began to significantly pant and wheeze. Then he decided to give him 150 mg of Theophylline twice daily. Could the thyroid dose change have caused these symptoms or is it a coincidence?

Avatar f tn Do I take Levothyroxine when my TSH is 0.66, total T4 is 5.6 and T3 uptake is 33.4%? I think I might be hyperthyroid, not hypothyroid. I have to take metoclopramide for stomach dilation and I take Diazapam plus other meds on the very long list of containdicated medications. Does anyone know?
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with hypothyroid less then a week ago and started taking Levothyroxine 50mcg and 2 hrs after I take the meds my heart races and feels like its literally going to pound its way out of my chest. I phoned my Dr with my concerns and she told me that it takes time for your body to adjust and to keep taking it until I'm re-tested in 6 weeks. My chest now hurts and I am afraid to take the meds. Anyone else have this issue?
