levothyroxine hunger

I have been on Levothyroxine and now Tirosint. Both medications make me ravenous - there's no other explanation for this.. none that I can think of anyway. The hunger starts 1 hour after I take my morning pill then lasts throughout the day - no matter how much I eat, 10 minutes after eating I am ravenous again. Does anyone else have the same isse? Thank you.

I have recently been diagnosed with hypo thyroid. I have been put on 30mg of armour thyroid medicine. I am overweight and have been trying to lose weight. Since I've been on this medicine, I have hunger pains constantly, can't get enough to eat. I have called my dr. Of course he says it's not the med. I don't know what to do. I have already put on 4 lbs in 7 days. What other meds should I look into. HELP!!!!

You will be surprised to know that stomach ulcers and severe acidity can result in hunger pangs. Even GERD presents with similar symptoms. At times the hunger pangs due to acidity wakes up a person in the wee hours of night. Omeprazole is a good drug to combat this. Along with it you can try over the counter antacids. However I would recommend you see a doctor and take medication under a doctor’s supervision. Avoid heavy meals and take frequent small ones.

My tsh is 5.26, the doctor gave me levothyroxine 25mcg, but now i feel really tired and with much hunger, whats going on with me?

Ever since I started taking my levothyroxine, around the same time I had my radioactive iodine treatment, its been hard to breathe. My oxygen levels are at 100 percent and It does not feel like a upper respiatory infection or anything. What could be causing this?

I would like to know who out there has been on my same dosage w/Synthroid and what dosage are you on w/ Armour? I know everone is different. The only symptom I have that is different, is I have a deep hunger in my stomach that wakes me up at night and is almost painful (painfully hungry). I am still tired.

I no longer take levothyroxine. i have no doctor and no refills. I am trying to loose the weight i have gained. I am tired, moody and hungry all the time. What can i do? Can I get something over the counter? I need help. My body feels like its breaking down.

Is one a generic of the other? Which one is best? I was told that Synthyroid was better but more expensive that levothyroxine. Thanks for any input. I am a newbee.

About 4 months ago, I had air hunger, lightheaded, and muscle aches and my doctor said my TSH level was 4.54, and this was the reason. I was put on levothyroxine 25mg, and my air hunger went away, but the muscle aches hadn't. I recently went to a specialist (endo) for this and she told me to stop the medication because a 17 year old female is hormonal and that my levels were normal?

I had issues with Levothyroxine. It kept my tsh level normal but my symptoms were so bad. It got to its worst in August and I quit taking it. I am still waiting for results of an U/S on my thyroid before I get back on meds. I go to the dr tomorrow and I am requesting to go on synthroid. With levo I had major fatigue, hunger, weight gain, Anxiety attacks, facial ticks, cold sensitivity, and just felt like crap.

I have hypothyroidism; I take 37.5 mcg of Levothyroxine and my TSH is now at 2.97. For years I have struggled with sudden pangs of hunger resulting in sweating, confusion, migraines, etc. I regularly wake up in the middle of the night shaking with hunger. Over the years I've significantly reduced carbs in my diet in response. My diet consists almost entirely of vegetables, beans, fruits, nuts, cheese, eggs, with a slice of high-fiber bread on certain days.

I've been to half a dozen different doctors and none of them will hear of the 24 hr saliva test. I have elevated ACTH (59; should be < 50), insulin (20, should be < 17), c-peptide (3.7; should be < 3.1) & triglycerides (around 190). I'm also hypo, and am taking 37.5 dose of Levothyroxine, and my TSH now is 2.97. All other numbers are fine, including Na, Ca, K, cholesterol, etc.

Baby food even sounds tasty! Avoiding fruits and veggies right now. Nauseated but thinking hunger.

Yes I feel like I am eating all the time. I don't eat much when I do but then I get like crazy had hunger pains and they don't go away until I eat. It is driving me mad!

I dont take prenatals (i know i know..) but i can relate to the hunger situation. Just eat smaller portions every so often. it helps.

Your baby does not have hunger pains. He/she will take what they need from you at the expense of you. You will have hunger pains because you are giving up nutrients from your body to the baby.
