Avatar f tn Hi I have hypothyroidism and I'm currently 6 weeks into my course of levothyroxine. Yesterday I noticed some swelling around my foot/ankle. To me it seems like non-pitting edema. It's only in one foot and I keep getting tingling feelings that come and go and nothing seems to make it go away. It doesn't hurt but it's just bothersome. Should I be speaking to my GP about this?
Avatar f tn As a side note, about this time I was ten days in to going from levothyroxine to nature- throid. The bump was sore at that time. I switched back to levothyroxine about 16 days ago and the bump only hurts on occasion now and not nearly as much as before. Has anyone heard of anything like this? I am just curious. Nobody seems to know what it is and what to do about it.
Avatar m tn swollen knees, edema in feet and ankles, arthritis, pain in muscles and joints, muscle mass loss, weakness in arms and shoulders, tension in neck. My lab tests show high TSH: 190.83 , low free T4 : .42 , high CRP: 68.80 , Anti Thyroid Peroxidase Antibio: 185.0 , Anti thyroglobulin antibody: 3,000 . Two questions: One what brought this on? Two: What recommendations for treatment?
Avatar m tn I am taking levothyroxine 88 mcg for 10 days. I started out taking a half a pill for 8 days. I was lost a total of 5 lbs but since I started taking the whole pill it seems that my weight is staying the same. Is this normal or will I start to lose weight again once my body become adjusted to the new dosage?
Avatar f tn Hi I have Hashimoto's/hypothyroidism and I take 125mcg of Levothyroxine per day. I'm not sure if this is typical of hypo/Hashi's but I've been getting strange pains in the back part of my thigh - not in the area by my hamstring but more lateral. Reading into it sounds like meralgia paraesthetica as the symptoms I have are very much similar but is it more commonplace in people with Hashi's or hypo?
Avatar f tn s often difficult to say which symptom is being caused by which condition. When I first went on Levothyroxine, I felt immediately better and began losing weight. I had edema all over my body. (I have now lost 40-45 lbs in about 9 months.) Cognitive improvements, too. But after a month felt bad again and had even new symptoms I had not had before. Pursued it further and they eventually found Celiacs. Hair and nail problems can be caused by either, as well as many other things.
Avatar f tn Hi there I currently suffer from hypothyroidism and currently take levothyroxine. (75mcg) I recently posted a question regarding a swollen ankle and although it has since gone down I have started to get more pronounced swelling (from what I can see) around my cheekbone/under eye area. I've included a photo of it.
Avatar n tn levothyoxine for 2-1/2 yr. My TSH(0.03) was low so I was put on Levothyroxine 112 mcg. I still had a low TSH(0.05) so I wound up on 100 mcg. On this dose my blood pressure went up and so did my pulse; I also got slight edema in my ankles. I told my family physician I thought 100 mcg. was too low, and begged her to allow me to go back on 112 mcg. She allowed me to stay on 112 mcg. until I can see an endocrinologist. Doesn't 100 mcg.
Avatar f tn Has anybody had any experience of hallucinations with Hypothyroidism?? The last few days I have been seeing the odd insect crawling up the wall and strange things from the corner of my eye. When I look again there gone. It's really unnerved me... I've not mentioned it to anyone just in case they think I've completely lost it. But I'm starting to feel a little frightened. I've only recently been diagnosed with Hypothyroidism 7 weeks ago and are on a 25mg of Levothyroxine.

4856858 tn?1365378777 i also had/have edema in feet ankles, and lower legs. she had me do toe, foot, and ankle exercises to move the edema along. edema is a passive disorder that requires muscle contraction to circulate the trapped lymph. the swelling is tx related, because it limits your mobility. walk and exercise.
Avatar n tn t really needed, but now the area of edema has a pinkish appearance to it. The edema is in both lower legs and ankles, but not so much my feet. I can't tell whether or not its better in the morning or not, so do you have any ideas for us?
Avatar n tn 3 months after these tests, I started having bi lateral edema in both lower legs/ankles, but not so much my feet. I went to my GP was ran CBC, CMP, Liver panel, and BNP test. He was no longer concerned. I then went to another cardiologist for 2nd opinion, he did another echo and again the EF was 61%. I then saw a 2nd GP for a fresh opinion about the edema and he wasn't concerned either, after the normal blood tests.

Avatar f tn what can cause feet with edema caused from right sided chf to become very red?
Avatar n tn I was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism and I am wondering if anyone has this symptom. I have extremely painful pitting edema in my legs and they feel so heavy that I can hardly pick my leg up and walk. This has ruined my life for the last 9 months. I have a baby that is 11 months old and I haven't even been able to enjoy his life this far. I do not have insurance and I feel like the doctor I'm seeing at the clinic is not taking me serious.
Avatar f tn How do you deal with edema? I have swollen ankles that won't respond to anything. Even Lasix prescription is not helping. Compression socks and elevating legs help only minimally. Any tips or suggestions? What's worked best for you? Please help!
Avatar n tn I seem to have full body edema, to the point where my whole body is sensitive to the touch. Just simple things like putting on my jeans, or when one of my children tap me on the arm to get my attention, the pain is excruciating. I wake up in the morning with severe abdominal pain (from my sternum down and from left to right), puffy eyes and hands and bouts of diahrrea.

Avatar f tn Hi Swannie, Welcome to the Pain Mangement Forum. I am glad you found us. Please know that you are always welcome here but your question may be more suited to our General Health Forum. Here's the link: http://www.medhelp.org/forums/General-Health/show/164 With that said you need to look at the cause of your edema before you can determine if it cause be "cured." Edema is not a specific medical condition. It is a symptom of a condition. So what causes your edema?
Avatar n tn Is it regular edema or pitting edema? Pitting is when you press on an area and it stays depressed for a few minutes. In non-pitting edema, which usually affects the legs or arms, pressure that is applied to the skin does not result in a persistent indentation. Non-pitting edema can occur in certain disorders of the lymphatic system such as lymphedema, which is a disturbance of the lymphatic circulation that may occur after a mastectomy, lymph node surgery, or congenitally.
