Avatar m tn He had been taking 150mg of Levothyroxine for his thyroid and then prescribed sertraline for his anxiety and chest pains. A month after taking the two, he began to suffer from severe panic attacks and then manic and psychotic episodes. He ended up being sectioned to hospital for 3 weeks. The diagnosis was that he had a predisposition to bipolar disorder.. I am strongly convinced that the interaction of the medication prescribed by the doctor.
Avatar n tn I use to take Levothyroxin 125MCG tab mylan One and One/Half Tablet six days per week and One/Half Tablet one day per week. This was bought at Walmart. I started to obtain my Medication from the "VA". They sent me Levothyroxine NA ( Synthroid) 0.025MG Tab. Take One/Half once Daily. What is the differance between 125MCG and 0.025MG ? Will the dosage be correct ?
Avatar m tn I started taking levothyroxine again about 3 weeks ago again and have felt really terrible ever since. For whatever reason i have been not my outgoing energitic self. But really, really way to calm and relaxed. But i have also been like zombie because i was so tired as well.My tsh was 2.17 on.050 of levothyroxine and now the endo wants me to go to go up to .075 of synthroid. Does that sound like to much for my tsh?.I dont want to give myself a heart attack or anything.
Avatar m tn 75 of levothyroxine and want to subsitute armor thyroid but do not know the appropriate dosage. I had a benign nodule on my right lobe which was removed. I am on the levothyroxine as a preventative measure to ensure the remaining lobe is not ovewr-taxed. This is what the doctor told me. I have never had any symptoms of thyroid problems or disease. what is the appropriate substitution dosage?
Avatar f tn Hello. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and anemia a little over a month ago. I'm taking iron for the anemia and 50 mcg levothyroxine. After about a week I began feeling some improvement in my energy levels, and hair loss was lessened a little, although still not optimal. This could be due to iron supplements or thyroid (most likely a combination.
Avatar n tn My daughter is having congenital hypothyrodism. She was on 25ug for the 1st year. Then on our routine test we found that the TSH value has started to increase and reached 5.09.So now we increased the dosage to 37.5ug and did a blood test after 2 months. But still the value is 5.45.So should the dose be again increased? What is the normal range for a 15 months old baby.Is it <5 or <3?
Avatar f tn 75 mcg seems like a large dosage for someone with normal but borderline free T4. What was your TSH? My endocrinologist (who is generally very good but is confusing me with a recent issue, as I have posted about) likes to use TSH merely as an initial indication that there may be a thyroid problem, and then dose based on the actual thyroid hormone levels (particularly free T4.
Avatar m tn Sounds very similar. At first when I was on the .012 I couldn't see any change. It's just been recently, after being on the .025, that I have been experiencing these problems. I was told that after I started the thyroid meds that I would lose weight. Haven't lost an ounce, and my upper stomach seems to be bloating. I have been taking a probiotic, so maybe that is why I haven't had any gas pain in that area. However, the heartburn has been terrible in the last week.
Avatar f tn It sounded like a bit much to me, but I did it anyway, for 2 days. I came down with symptoms of an overdose of Levothyroxine, called a 24/7 nurse hotline, and was instructed to call Poison Control. My doctor won't be back in her office until Monday....
Avatar n tn without know you history I will say that you need to be on the levo for the rest of your life Your dose needs tweaking from time to time You realy should be have blood testsdat least every 3 months.I would suspect your illness is not from the levo but your dose needs to be tweaked and get you on the right dosage. In my case I have lost 22 pounds and I was on too high a dosage so I had blood labs and sure enough I needed to lower my dose of the levo.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm newly diagnosed hypothyroid. I've been taking 25mg levothyroxine for nearly 8 weeks now but I just feel worse and worse. It's really affecting my day to day life much more than before - I'm a student nurse and am struggling to make it through my shifts on a daily basis. Thinking my dosage is wrong - how long does it take for everything to become stabilised again? Not sure how I'm gunna carry on my nurse training at the moment :-( any comments appreciated.
Avatar f tn I have been on Levothyroxine for the past 5 years or so, and recently my new doctor increased my dosage from 88mcg to 100mcg, due to my blood work results. I also take Citalopram 30mg for anxiety, and Xanax as needed (rarely). I have been taking the new dosage (100mcg) for about 3- 4 weeks now. I am experiencing a huge flux in anxiety (it was always pretty stable before since I have been on the Citalopram; I haven't had to take Xaxax in over 6 months).
Avatar f tn My numbers did not improve and the dr increased the dosage to 75 mcg. Within a week and for 4 months I was an emotional, depressed, raging lunatic. I BEGGED to get a lower dosage and threatened to stop all together. Dr reluctantly lowered the dosage and I feel normal but tired, tired ALL the time. My next appt is coming up and know the dr will want to increase my dosage. Is there anything else I can take or do?
534785 tn?1329592208 I take 100mg of Flecainide Acetate twice daily for this and it seemed to work well until I began steadily increasing my Levothyroxine dosage from around 100mg to 175mg during the past 6 - 8 months.
Avatar n tn My TSH was originally measured in January at 99.93 and I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thryoiditis. After taking Levothyroxine for 3 months, my TSH is now down to .97 with a normal t3 and t4. Does this mean my thyroid is not producing anything and the Levothyroxine is completely taking over? And will my thyroid ever come back to do the job? Many thanks for any answers.
Avatar f tn My TSH came back at .11. Do they increase or decrease the dose of levothyroxine to get it to the right level? I had my thyroid removed a year ago because of a multi-nodular goiter and I haven't had a normal level since. I am wondering if my doctor is doing this right. He is not an endoctrinoligist and I thinik perhaps I should find one to get this straighened out. My muscles hurt 24/7 and so far no one seems to be able to figure it out.
Avatar f tn If you switch brands from generic to Synthroid, the dose would remain the same unless your doctor changes your dosage for some reason.
Avatar f tn What are your thyroid hormone (Free T4 and Free T3) levels, with reference ranges? What dosage of levothyroxine are you on and how long have you been on it? What other blood tests are you waiting for?
Avatar f tn Can you post your actual test results for us, along with the reference ranges from your lab report? That would help us determine whether or not you're on an adequate dosage. 25 mcg is a very small dosage and is, typically, only a starting dose. It's not unusual for symptoms to get worse, or for new ones to appear, when starting on replacement thyroid hormones or changing dosages. Have you, actually, taken your pulse to see what your heart rate is?
18552345 tn?1472243264 Sorry, dosage was changed at the 10/2014 appt. to levothyroxine 50 mcg for 5 days and 75 mcg on weekends, Liothyronine 5 mcg Tab twice a day Lab Results 4/27/2015 Levothyroxine 50 mcg for 5 days and 75 mcg on weekends, Liothyronine 5mcg 5 mcg Tab twice a day TSH- 0.132 (0.340-5.600) Low range Free T3- 3.1 (2.2-4.3) Free T4- 0.92 (0.57-1.25) Ferritin- 44 Dosage unchanged Lab results 6/25/15 TSH- 0.630 (0.450-4.500) Free T4- 0.87 (.82-1.77) Free T3- 2.8 (2.0-4.
Avatar f tn 05MG one in the AM as a back up ( in case I cant get my Armour RX filled ) Is it OK to switch from Armour to the cytomel/levothyroxine and is the dosage equivalent ? I notice when I take my Armour, I feel very hot/warm and somewhat irritable afterwards for a few hours. Is that a normal side effect? I have an enlarged pituitary and enlarged pituitary stalk , which is monitored by MRI yearly.
Avatar f tn To reduce the risk of an error, prescribers should print all orders for Lanoxin and levothyroxine and include the purpose for each drug on all prescriptions. Both the mg dose and the mcg conversion should be listed in all levothyroxine orders and on product labels, such as "levothyroxine 100 mcg (0.1 mg)" or "Synthroid 0.1 mg (100 mcg).
Avatar n tn I have been on levothyroxine for 2 years and after tweaking it for awhile I finnalygot the right dosage. I feel pretty good, been loosing weight, I think though I may have to get my dosage changed since I have lost from 214 of last fall to 187 as of today. Got a doc appoin ment next month for tessts so we shall see.
Avatar f tn Hi, I take 150mcg of levothyroxine a day and I don't feel any of thise things.
Avatar f tn Hello, I was diagnosed with thyroiditis and after going from hyperthyroidism to hypothyroidism I was put on 75mg of levothyroxine than my doctor said to only take half a dosage and now I've been off the medication for 6 days I was supposed to be done with treatment but ever since I stopped the medication I've been feeling dizzy again and exhausted my hair is falling out again my hands are shaking I have cold feet and nausea I told my doctor but he says I'm fine I was wondering could
Avatar f tn Throughout my dosage, I felt some of my symptoms lessen as I hit 50ug levothyroxine, less crashing fatique, less faintness, and less arrhythmia. For two weeks on 50 ug I felt almost completely normal, with no aches, arrhythmia, fatique. But after those glorious 2 weeks my symptoms started coming back (ache, fatigue, arrhythmia) while still on the 50ug dose. I asked my Dr. to up to 62.5 ug levothyroxine, but this dosage has not helped, and I am feeling aches, fatigue and arrhythmia again.
Avatar f tn I was on 50 mcg of levothyroxine for six months. I was told my levels were fine, but I cried every day for no reason. My levels during this time was t4 .88 (.78-2.35). T3 2.88 (2.32-6.09) and TSH 1.52. I was told I was great for the next three months. I cried every day until I stopped then the crying stopped. This was after my second endo and three different doctors of all who kept saying its all in your head. I am confused about this medicine or even understanding my diagnosis.
