Levothyroxine and sun

Common Questions and Answers about Levothyroxine and sun

synthroid

Avatar f tn I have had hypothyroidism (hashimotos disease) for 12yrs now, I do take levothyroxine for it and haven't had any problems with it since diagnosis. Recently I was diagnosed with herpes 2. My questions are: 1) since I already have an autoimmune disease are there any correlations between hypothyroidism and herpes? 2) Is a person more susceptible to getting herpes because of prior immune issues? 3) will having herpes affect my thyroid in any way down the road?
219609 tn?1210348114 While you wait for the dotor ot answer: Like all the rest, foods/drinks (and coffee), vitamins, and other drugs, take Welchol hours away from your thyroid medication. Welchol can make it harder for your body to absorb certain other medications, including levothyroxine/Synthroid. So as long as you take them both far apart from each other, you should be fine. Low Vitamin D, did you tell the doctor? Will you be taking supplements to build up your low V-D, I presume.
Avatar m tn ve been diagnosed I have tried every diet under the sun and never lost more than a few pounds before putting on more than I started with, it's got to the point where I'm so down I need to find something that will work, I've read that metformin helps ? If anyone has any tips for things that work it would greatly appreciated!
Avatar n tn s weird because yesterday I was sat around all day in the sun and it really burned, and today I have been active and hot in the sun and it hasn't burned hardly at all.
Avatar m tn they are total T3 and T4 tests. I live in East Africa and they do not have the facilities to test Free T3 and T4 tests. With regards to the reference ranges would this be for example TSH .35-5.5?
Avatar f tn Hi! I've always had pale skin which burned easily, but in the past I was able to get by with just using sunblock. But this past summer my skin was extremely sensitive and I'm not sure what's causing this. I went on vacation and every time I was in the sun I applied spf 50 waterproof sunblock, and diligently reapplied after going in the water and every two hours. But I still had a horrible reaction to the sun. My skin got red and hot and it was very painful.
484482 tn?1319378880 A few months later hypothyroidism, have been taking 125mg of levothyroxine for almost 2 yrs now and have not been able to get pregnant,I get regular cycles every month but they are shorter than before 25 -27days, I think i have done everything and tested for everything under the sun except for taking meds for fertility and IVF.Anyone have any suggestions on what my next step is??? please help!!!!
Avatar f tn Another good one is Tirosint, which is a gelcap and contains only glycerine, water, Levothyroxine and gelatin. Tirosint tends to be the most expensive, but the manufacturer has programs for those who qualify. Is TSH the only thyroid related blood test that's being performed regularly? What about Free T4 and Free T3? Those are the actual thyroid hormones.
1107393 tn?1263417738 It was my understanding that the makeup of the hormone is probably the same, but generics of the same drug may use a different filler....They use binders and color and fillers to get the desired size, shape and color of pill. I'm pretty new at all of this too, so one of the more experienced folks may be able to answer this better. I started out on synthroid...then went generic....synthroid messes with me...I don't like some of the side effects...
Avatar f tn my new doctor prescribed me t4 100 mon-thurs and t4 88 frid-sun and he also said to take sellenium and vitc everyday which i now do but cant lose any weight like every one else i put on 10kilos but its all round my stomach and the top of my thighs and nothing fits me so depressed.
Avatar m tn hey docs. i was treated recently for ngu and a testi infection. 750 mg of levaquen for 28 days. but this is what i read. The selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) sertraline (ZOLOFT), widely prescribed for depression, has been associated with a decrease in the effect of levothyroxine. i take zolaft 100 mg daily. i still have testi pain and burning. i am now bieng treated with diflucan for 7 days for a yeast infection. should i be worried. do u think my ngu was wiped out.
Avatar f tn To reduce the risk of an error, prescribers should print all orders for Lanoxin and levothyroxine and include the purpose for each drug on all prescriptions. Both the mg dose and the mcg conversion should be listed in all levothyroxine orders and on product labels, such as "levothyroxine 100 mcg (0.1 mg)" or "Synthroid 0.1 mg (100 mcg).
Avatar n tn levothyroxine and foot and toe cramps. Existing damage to lumber due to spinal infection that tumored and surround spinal cord and root nurves.
Avatar f tn I have been tested for everything under the sun from heart and lung problems to seizures but all of my tests come back normal except my thyroid levels are all over the charts. an ultrasound of my thyroid show that it is small but otherwise normal and my potassium levels are generally low. is there any one out there that can help me find a better way to manage this problem.
Avatar f tn But my appt with him is next week and I will tell him I want t3 and t4 test besides TSH.. I have stopped the levothyroxine for this past week and my hips are really feeling alot better..so I am thinking it has something to do with that med.
649688 tn?1276871161 I take 50mg of levothyroxine for a border line underactive. Have no ovaries or womb and settled on HRT years ago as a result. Have never ever had bad skin. Until 5 - 6 months after taking Levothyroxine. The amount I take has stopped the terrible frightening symptoms I had. All of my family and friends and myself are so happy that I am now 'normal'. But what about this acne at 43 years of age ?????
Avatar n tn With these symptoms, you should have the diagnosis confirmed (test TPO and Tg antibodies) and a trial of levothyroxine therapy considered. Stress is a contributor to autoimmune disease and to your symptoms in general, but the thyroid may well be a significant cause as well.
Avatar f tn But this week my weight started shooting up again my stomach is bloated and I am getting headaches and feeling very dizzy . I checked my blood pressure in cvs and it came to 140/100 which i understand is stage 1 hypertension. I haven't had hypertension before. Is his bcoz of levothyroxine ? I have my next appointment only in June. Will it be advisable to check with my doctor before that.
Avatar f tn There are studies that suggest the connection and there are patients whose hives improve with levothyroxine treatment to keep the TSH in the low-normal range (0.3-1.0). Working with an allergist as well is often useful.
Avatar f tn I had my blood tested and then retested for hypothyroidism. MY TSH was 5.6 the first time. This last test included a T3 and T4 profile. I do not know what these last results were, but my PCP put me on 25 mcg of levothyroxine (after the results of this last test). I had a bout with AFib last year (just the one time) and they think it was caused by anxiety. One of the side effects of the levothyroxine is irregular heartbeat.
Avatar m tn My oncologist wants me to start taking nexavar, but she said that I could not spend time in the sun. Being a surfer and would like to take some time in MX. This drug does not sound to good for the amount of time (3.5 to 3 moths of life extension) that it boast will give me. has any one had any experience with nexavar and the sun?
531826 tn?1216075915 so i have been diabetic for 1 1/2 years and was wonder about the sun? i have always been told to stay out of the sun that it can cause really bad health promblems for diabetics atleast thats whats my dad heard should i belive him or can i get that nice golden tan like every other american teen?
Avatar f tn High factor sunscreen, something cool to wear - we took the wee man a walk round the country park near us on Sat and had him in a thin all in one cotton suit with short sleeves and short arms and no vest, sun hat.
Avatar n tn the doctor mentioned when he did a scan that my eye with the pvd had some inflammation, showing up on the scan in an orange color. Is this normal for having a pvd and floaters? Could it have anything to do with my sun sensitivity?
463595 tn?1333997222 Ugh, i have the "mask of pregnancy" thing already! This is pregnancy #4, and I've NEVER had it before. I *have* been in the sun a good bit, with T-ball and Little League games, but seriously-- it's only March!! It is mostly on my nose, all splotchy patches of brown- yuck!
