474189 tn?1211184460 Have recently been diagnosed with Hashi and have started on levothyroxine but I have noticed since I started taking it that I get chronic heartburn - especially at night making it difficult to sleep, but it attacks me at any time of the day and it gets so bad I just want to curl up in a ball and tell the world to go away ! Does anyone have this problem, is it a common side affect, will it stop as my body gets used to taking the meds or should I be revisiting my GP?
Avatar f tn I got some bad news about the nodules they found and I have to have a biopsy. I have no idea what to expect and am really apprehensive.
1435317 tn?1283599577 i was training for a marathon tht week, and on the night before my blood test, was the actual marathon (2 hours long), i came home and only had 3-4 hours of sleep, then i had to wake up and get my blood test done at 9 am. I am a confirmed Hashimoto's patient, levothyroxine made me feel worse,so my endo told me to get this blood test for my adrenals done.. (cant do saliva testing, not recognised in my country) the results Cortisol 17.91 mmg DHEA-S 8.3 um/l.....(0.9 - 11.
Avatar f tn I am not a doctor, but I do take Cytomel daily as I am unable to take the generic. For some odd reason, my body doesn't like any of the generic prescriptions except Lisinopril (which IS the generic of whatever it is I'm supposed to be taking to help lower my blood pressure), so I take it AND Synthroid. To help you sleep, you can take MELATONIN. It's what your body produces to help you sleep anyway, and it's NON-ADDICTIVE, except for the fact that you need to sleep.
332168 tn?1201026915 Currently I take 137 of Levothyroxine and 25 mcg of Cytomel. I was taking a half tablet in the morning and once in the early afternoon, but I couldn't manage to remember to take the afternoon dose in a timely fashion, and sometimes was kept up at night. I asked my doctor about just upping the Levo and dropping the cytomel, but he seems to think that it's best I'm on both. So I now take the entire dose in the morning and I find this works great for me.
Avatar m tn Symptoms of Fibromyalgia are pain, fatigue, anxiety and lack of sleep. It is a vicious circle as one symptom influnces the others. If you sleep badly, then you start to feel more pain, which then causes anxiety, etc... I was taking xanax for anxiety and it was pretty efficient, but had to stopo due to addiction. It would be worth to see a specialist.
Avatar f tn Hi I was put on 50mcg Levothyroxine in January this year and I am now on 125mcg Levothyroxine. This was increased in June. Although my latest TSH result has shown up as normal my doctor thinks I am on the correct dose but I am feeling more hyperthyroid than hypothyroid. I have ordered a FT3, FT4 and antibody test and this is booked in for next week.
Avatar f tn he is my PCP/DO and was just going over the updated meds list. The Levothyroxine .50/.75 alternating daily and the Cytomel .5 1/2 am and 1/2 at 5pm was rx by Endocrinologist.
Avatar m tn I take levothyroxine 1/2 hour before my early morning run and have noticed sometimes heart disturbances in the later in the day... I am not sure if levothyroxine is too blame or should I wait 1 hour before doing my running? Currently take 150mg x3 and 100mg x 4 per week and TSH 0.18 Have you experience the same thing? I'm 43 and don't want to damage my heart!
Avatar n tn I have wondered if there is a relationship and if it will ever get better. I have been on levothyroxine since then and the ringing is as loud as ever!!!
Avatar f tn Dr put me on 125mcg of levo. Within a month. Ive lost all gained weight and started feeling normal. And, about 4 months later. Ive started gaining wt with same symptoms i had before being dx. There is no change in diet or activities. Beside wt gain.. this severe bloated feeling in my stomach. It is so bloated that my skin hurts (from inflammation?). Feel like i cant breath, depressed and at times, i feel like want to rip my skins out. After many lab tests and adj. In dose in levo.
Avatar f tn I had thyroid removed 6/21 and been on Tirosint (levothyroxine) and I have excruciating pain in left hip for months and now right hip! They say bursitis. I’m going for pain block in lower lumbar because I do have 3 bulging discs.
Avatar n tn How much levothyroxine are you taking? The reason I ask is that your free T4 is over the high limit and could be contributing to your symptoms. What criterion did the doctor use to decide on your med dosage? What was the doctor's reaction to your free T4 result? To better assess what is going on, you need to be tested for free T3 also, since free T3 is the most active thyroid hormone ( four times as potent as free T4).
219609 tn?1210348114 I had thought as so,,Plus my endo told me to take 800 a day on vit D but I take 1000, I take all my meds like multi vitamins at noon and D before sleep,,I take my synthroid at 6am and go back to sleep,Most of the time I always get eight solid hours of sleep but my internal clock wakes me to take meds, plus there are still lots of times I wake first thing nervous, so my zanax is in order, I was at 175mcg for a while but am slowly going back down to 137mcg because my numbers are to high in the fre
Avatar f tn But after 2 major surgeries now am hyperthyroid again. Primary care dr increased my levothyroxine from 175mcg to 200mcg and I feel worse than ever. Isn't my medication supposed to be lower? So confused. And losing weight, irritable, not eating, not sleeping, very hyper. Help!!
1058524 tn?1285187240 I had a TT 5 weeks ago. For 2 weeks I was on Levothyroxine 175 1x daily . Then I got the news I "had" cancer and was to stop Levothyroxine and take Cytomel 25 2xs a day. *Levothyroxine I would take in the morning/empty/with h20 no food for 1 hour *Cytomel I take one in the morning 8-9am same as above, then one at 9pm My question is I felt amazing on Levothyroxine (alive again!) and I feel OK on Cytomel. My issue is I am really tired between the hours of 2pm and 6pm.
Avatar f tn Another good one is Tirosint, which is a gelcap and contains only glycerine, water, Levothyroxine and gelatin. Tirosint tends to be the most expensive, but the manufacturer has programs for those who qualify. Is TSH the only thyroid related blood test that's being performed regularly? What about Free T4 and Free T3? Those are the actual thyroid hormones.
765572 tn?1234697366 Synthroid, levothyroxine, cytomel and Armour are not all the same meds and are not interchangeable!! Levothyroxine is the generic for synthroid, which is a T4 med only - those 2 can be interchangeable, but some people do better on one or the other. Cytomel is a T3 only med. Armour is a natural thyroid hormone which has both T4 and T3. T3 is a very short lived hormone - only lasts a few hours and often works best to split the dosage over the day.
Avatar m tn hey docs. i was treated recently for ngu and a testi infection. 750 mg of levaquen for 28 days. but this is what i read. The selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) sertraline (ZOLOFT), widely prescribed for depression, has been associated with a decrease in the effect of levothyroxine. i take zolaft 100 mg daily. i still have testi pain and burning. i am now bieng treated with diflucan for 7 days for a yeast infection. should i be worried. do u think my ngu was wiped out.
Avatar m tn s patients usually have low or no acid which makes me concerned about taking this. And I read about ensuring you space out when you take omeprazole. I also have low ferritin and was taking iron, which I saw online is contradicted. Does anyone have experience with taking this?

Avatar m tn Back in March I changed how I take my meds from taking in AM and having coffee 15 min later to waking up taking my pill , going back to sleep and hours later having coffee! I went hyper and have been miserable ever since! Help!
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed having an under active thyroid about 1.5 years ago, my results being "borderline". I am now on 50mg of levothyroxine sodium. Recently I have developed a itchy red rash and it keeps on spreading! Please help! Is this an affect of levothyroxine? When I was initially diagnosed I was also severely anemic, which can also be a cause of my symptoms, fatigue, hair loss, weight gain etc...
Avatar m tn This pounding character of the headache makes one suspect a vascular cause behind the headache. Migraine usually does not come in sleep. But what can come in sleep is a headaches due to any blood vessel abnormality. ( such as an aneurysm ) . In the REM stage of the sleep, blood pressure fluctuates. It can rise above the normal range, and can lead to a headache. You will do well to ask for an MRI of the brain in this case.
623944 tn?1244035490 Treatment with levothyroxine caused improvement in the urticaria and angioedema. When treatment was stopped the symptoms returned and then subsided with the continuation of treatment. In the patients without evidence of thyroid antibodies, levothyroxine had no effect. The pathogenic relationship between thyroid antibodies and the chronic urticaria hasn’t yet been determined.
Avatar m tn Perhaps not coincidentally, before and including the time he was taking the Levothyroxine, he had been stressed and sleep-deprived, working 16-hour days shoveling and plowing snow, not eating well, and using a lot of coffee and chewing tobacco to try to stay awake. What I am wondering is this: Could his manic behavior, never even hinted at previously, be a side-effect of the Levothyroxine in combination with the other factors mentioned above?
