Avatar f tn If your T3, measured by the Free T3 test, is low but 'in range', you can have muscle and joint pain. This pain usually subsides when Free T3 levels are in the upper third of the range - many have noted this. Levo is a synthetic T4 med, but if you are on too low a dose, or dont convert T4 to T3 efficiently, this could be the cause. If you had free T3 tested, post the results with the range used by the lab for some experienced interpretation. Do you have other hypo symptoms as well?
Avatar n tn Actually muscle weakness and loss of muscle tissue can be a side effect of Hypothyroidism. What are your TSH levels now? Posting any blood test may help the doctor. How long have you been on your Synthroid? You could also have strained the muscle in that arm b/c most commonly hypothyroidism will effect many joints and muscles instead of being in one location.
Avatar f tn I have hypothyroidism and have been experiencing muscle weakness on a nightly basis. It seems to be worse with repetitive movements, and it's only located at my shoulders, neck, and trapezius (sp?) muscles. Sometimes I feel pressure and pain at my thyroid around the same time, and it's pretty much a 24-hour pattern, beginning in the early evening. I've had an antibody test for myesthenia gravis which was negative, but I have an enlarged thymus.
Avatar m tn I too have the muscle aches, behind my knees and carpal tunnel and finger pain. My dose of synthroid was increased to 88 mcg from 50 beginning Jan., long story short my tsh was 3.57 with dose of 50 mcg is now 1.74 (tested last week) with higher dose. This week I am feeling better, don't want to jinx myself by saying I am feeling better, just trying to enjoy being almost pain free. I started synthroid in July 08, so that is how long to get here.
Avatar f tn I am 32 years old and have seen numerous doctors who seem to be unable to solve this mystery. At first, only my right calf muscle hurt, and I mean extreme pain especially when laying down. Over time, the pain has traveled to both of my calves, thighs, hands, feet, arm, and headaches. The pain is sharp and stabbing which lasts anywhere from 1 minute to hours in one location then moves to another area of the body.
Avatar f tn Good Morning, I am a recent member and I am Hypo due to Hashimotos. I would like to comment on the muscle pain. Before I was diagnosed with Hashi's my muscle pain made it impossible for me to function let alone the Brain fog and all the other symptoms of a HPO thyroid. I had test to rule out Fibromialgis and RA. After a little more than a year and med changes starting at 50mcg levo and no T3 (cytomel) to 112mcg and 25 cytomel I am doing very well.
Avatar f tn Sorry about all the questions, but need to know some more. What are the reference ranges shown on the lab report for the FT4 and FT3? Did you tae the Levothyroxine in the morning before the blood draw for those test results?
Avatar m tn I have been hypothyroid since 2015 and on levothyroxine since then. I have started feeling light pain in my ankles and knees. My random google research has shown that prolonged intake of levo does have effect on bone density. Plz explain if it is so.
Avatar m tn I have another question regarding Levothyroxine. I've been on it for 5 weeks now and for the most part the only positive difference I've noticed is having more energy. The cons of things I've been feeling are muscle pains, menstrual cycle changes and digestion. Can Levothyroxine cause constipation or mess up your digestion in any way? I've been having a lot of abdominal pain for the past week and my stomach is just gurgling really loudly when I eat.
Avatar f tn s and had my thyroid removed a year ago due to it constantly fluctuating and turning hyper, I take levothyroxine too, but as mentioned above, I don't think it's due to the drug itself.
Avatar m tn After TT, I suffered severely with pain, cramps and muscle spasms. After I did some research, and started these minerals, WALLA, no more pain and muscle cramps.
1691030 tn?1306069524 Could you repost those levels again with the reference ranges provided for each level. This way members can get a better idea where you are with thyroid, Since you are in the UK those levels look high compared to the US levels.
Avatar f tn The joint pain is most often from too much medication, and the muscle pain, edema, cramping and spasms in feet and legs is most often associated w/ under-medication. But not always, for some people is can be the opposite. Sweet, huh? There is a big association between hypothyroidism and fibromyalgia as well. Other people on this forum have said that low VIT D is associated with these aches and pains, and I have read it in medical journals too.
Avatar n tn Hi. I am a 59 yr old male. Symptons are always have been cold, tired, joint and muscle pain worse in fingers, I took Vioxx before it was removed , high blood pressure , tinnitus, completely deaf over 2,500 cycles in both ears. Hearing aids made no difference. Dentist last month couldn't freeze my gums with 2 needles of Carbocaine. 7mm nodule on thyroid. Blood tests TSH 2.15 ( range .465 to 4.68 ) FT4 11.17 ( range 10 to 28.2 ) Total T3 2.02 ( range .92 to 2.

539478 tn?1296621012 I've had muscle & joint pain for many years & knew it was my thryoid but only recently have finally been diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. I now also have hypothyroidism. I've had back pain for many years which is why I became a personal trainer & fitness instructor to fight the pain. I am 36.
Avatar m tn Inadequate levothyroxine dosage will produce or fail to ameliorate the signs and symptoms of hypothyroidism. Hypersensitivity reactions to inactive ingredients have occurred in patients treated with thyroid hormone products. These include urticaria, pruritus, skin rash, flushing, angioedema, various GI symptoms (abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea), fever, arthralgia, serum sickness and wheezing. Hypersensitivity to levothyroxine itself is not known to occur.
Avatar f tn In treating a hypothyroid condition with T3 (only) is there a U-Shaped relationship between dose and head pain? In other words does both too little and too much T3 cause head pain? Thank you.
Avatar n tn I SUFFER with EXTREME fatigue, severe calf muscle pain with a dull, throbbing, aching pain, hip pain, groin pain, severe muscle pains in my arms, upper and lower muscle back pain. I thought this would stop when I stopped the Crestor but it most definitely HAS NOT. I have been off of Crestor for approximately five months. I suffer daily with pain, constipation and stomach issues. I also have a bad memory and horrible concentration. Could all of this be related to my thyroid being too low?
Avatar f tn I experienced similar symptoms about six weeks after I started on a 100 mcg dose of levothyroxine. Chest pain, heartburn, muscle aches, palpitations and dizziness. After two months my tsh had gone down to 0.004 and my doctor stopped my medication. I didn't take thyroxine for 3 months and felt much better, chest pain had vanished. But when I started again on levo, similar symptoms appeared. My sick of levothyroxine.
Avatar f tn Some of these causes like dehydration, being overweight, alcohol intake and prolonged standing are modifiable by efforts of the patient. Stretching and massaging the affected muscle (usually a calf muscle) can usually relieve an attack of cramp. A painkiller such as paracetamol may help to ease muscle discomfort and tenderness that sometimes persists for up to 24 hours after a cramp has gone.
Avatar n tn My son had a lot of problems after starting Levothyroxine and Cortef, racing heart and palpatations, nausea, dry mouth and muscle pain. It took time for his body to adjust. It helped to lower his thyroxine. How much Cortef are you prescribed to take?
Avatar m tn The most severe symptoms of hypercalcemia are nausea/vomiting, loss of appetite, thirst, frequent urination, constipation, abdoinal pain, muscle weakneas, muscle pain, joint aches (and a sensation of aching bones), lethargy and fatigue. Your age can influence what symptoms you display.... The Levothyroxine can also cause fatigue, so your current fatigue could be related to either :( Have you had your calcium levels checked previously?
Avatar n tn levothyroxine and foot and toe cramps. Existing damage to lumber due to spinal infection that tumored and surround spinal cord and root nurves.
Avatar f tn he is my PCP/DO and was just going over the updated meds list. The Levothyroxine .50/.75 alternating daily and the Cytomel .5 1/2 am and 1/2 at 5pm was rx by Endocrinologist.
Avatar f tn 2 x 1.1 cm, and a smaller 8 mm solid nodule. TSH was now 15.4. I was put on levothyroxine 25 mcg at that time. 1 month later, TSH 9.4. started on 50 mcg of levo. Since starting levothyroxine, i have had continuous pain in my neck, and have gained a few pounds. I have also noticed more fatigue. 2 weeks ago, i had labs checked after I requested additional thyroid testing. TSH is back in normal range, but microsomal TPO antibody was greater than 1,000, suggesting Hashimoto's thyroiditis.
