Levothyroxine and leg pain

Common Questions and Answers about Levothyroxine and leg pain

synthroid

Avatar n tn Levothyroxine is unlikely to cause the foot and toe cramps. The ongoing pain in the leg could indicate that there is progressive damage to the nerves. NCS, nerve conduction studies may show the effects on the nerve. The compression on the nerves needs to be relieved. Therapy for spinal disorders can be conservative (non operative) and surgical (operative) management.
Avatar f tn The pain/tightness started spreading to left ankle and achilles so I stopped taking the levothyroxine for 1 day and everything, including lower left leg felt better by the afternoon and the next day even better. Doc has noe put me on something else and at a lower equivalent dose. Fingers crossed for no side effects on this one!
Avatar f tn Knee and leg pain while on Snythroid for Hoshimotos. Is there anything else I can take that won't affect my muscles? I run 4 days a week and walk 3-5 miles 7 days a week but now I can barely walk 2 miles without pain. I am afraid at this rate, I'm going to need a cane in a few weeks.
Avatar n tn My research just shows that leg cramps may be a side effect but have found nothing about arm pain (and only one arm at that). I would really appreciate any advice you could give me. Thanks so much.
Avatar f tn Thank you for answering my problem with muscle cramps. I take .75mg of levothyroxine and my TSH level is 1.19 reference range 0.40-4.50mi U/L. I was also taking 5mg of Simvastatin, Uloric 40mg, amlodipine besylate 2.5, which I went off of 2 weeks ago but still get muscle cramps. I take 800mg of magnesium and 4000units of vitamin D. I suffer with these cramps but the most debilitating ones are in my groin area. For 8 months I was cramp free and then all of a sudden they returned.
Avatar f tn Since I was fifteen, I had swelling and a horrible cramping pain in one of my calves. I went to the doctor for it and he said there was no cause he could find, and I was checked for blood clots and did not have any. Every once in a while the cramping will come back, and it is usually after I consume alcohol. I have also been experiencing a burning sensation throughout my body since the last time I drank alcohol a few days ago. Is it possible my body is reacting this way due to the alcohol?
491352 tn?1258807095 When I started on synthroid and subsequently with every dose adjustment, I suffered with very painful leg and joint pain. It lasted about 2-3 weeks with the worst being when I was laying down. As my body became use to the change, they subsided.
Avatar f tn I had thyroid removed 6/21 and been on Tirosint (levothyroxine) and I have excruciating pain in left hip for months and now right hip! They say bursitis. I’m going for pain block in lower lumbar because I do have 3 bulging discs.
Avatar f tn 2 x 1.1 cm, and a smaller 8 mm solid nodule. TSH was now 15.4. I was put on levothyroxine 25 mcg at that time. 1 month later, TSH 9.4. started on 50 mcg of levo. Since starting levothyroxine, i have had continuous pain in my neck, and have gained a few pounds. I have also noticed more fatigue. 2 weeks ago, i had labs checked after I requested additional thyroid testing. TSH is back in normal range, but microsomal TPO antibody was greater than 1,000, suggesting Hashimoto's thyroiditis.
Avatar f tn I too was on levothyroxine, and then levoxyl, I too had twitching in my legs, i would go to bed and my leg would move constantly, and then some nights I would have one leg very warm to the point it was real red and the other leg would be cool to touch.

Avatar m tn Hello everybody, 3 years ago I have been struggling to stabilize my hormonal rate. Since two weeks ago, I have felt shocks the nerves in the back, the end of the spine and hips. It also radiates to my right arm and right leg and they get very swollen. I am currently taking 137 mcg of levothyroxine. Today, to try to improve, I took only 125 mcg, but I'm in pain, swelling and shortness of breath. I decided to make a new test this week and the results were as follows: TSH: 0.78 (0.5 - 5.

Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism a couple years ago. A few months ago I noticed that once evening hits, I start itching. I itch in the back of my head and in the back by my neck. I also have one place on the inside of my thigh where I itch and it about drives me nuts. I asked my dr. what I could do for it and he said over the counter cortisone, which didn't do anything for me.
Avatar f tn I had a TT back in Oct 2014 I have been taking the Levothyroxine ever since. When I had my levels checked in December My thyroid level was at a 50, so they took my prescription from 75 mcg to 125 mcg. Then in February, it had dropped to 40 so they increased me to 150mcg. Then in march 2015, it had dropped to 25 so they increased me to 175mcg and just a few days ago i was at 11 so they increased me to 200 mcg. My d3 levels were low so I have been prescribed 5000iu per day.
Avatar f tn In addition, there has been a shortage of Armour lately and the formula has changed in the pill, so my DR wrote me an RX for cytomel 5mcg twice in the AM and levothyroxine 0.05MG one in the AM as a back up ( in case I cant get my Armour RX filled ) Is it OK to switch from Armour to the cytomel/levothyroxine and is the dosage equivalent ? I notice when I take my Armour, I feel very hot/warm and somewhat irritable afterwards for a few hours. Is that a normal side effect?
Avatar f tn But there has not been a diagnosis yet on why I have, CFS, Muscular Pain/Neuro Pain?, Forgetting, all the problems and there is not really any pattern, that I can tell. Can you help?
Avatar f tn since beginning the Levo I have had multiple problems with digestion and bloating and horrible worse restless leg syndrome. I have always had GERD but it got worse. The constipation and bloating make me sick. I thought it might be the levothyroxine but with everything else.... It seems they just throw more meds at me. I now have enlarged lymph glands in my stomach also, new after starting meds. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn ve started having really badly shoulder neck pain and this horrible heavy fuzzy headache and lightheaded is it the mix medication.
Avatar n tn hello. is it safe to take methylsulphonylmethane supplements and levothyroxine? do you guys ever heard of any interaction between those? Im taking cranberry pills aswell i would like to hear from you if cranberry interact with levo, or theres no need to be worried here....
Avatar m tn I have another question regarding Levothyroxine. I've been on it for 5 weeks now and for the most part the only positive difference I've noticed is having more energy. The cons of things I've been feeling are muscle pains, menstrual cycle changes and digestion. Can Levothyroxine cause constipation or mess up your digestion in any way? I've been having a lot of abdominal pain for the past week and my stomach is just gurgling really loudly when I eat.
Avatar m tn Inadequate levothyroxine dosage will produce or fail to ameliorate the signs and symptoms of hypothyroidism. Hypersensitivity reactions to inactive ingredients have occurred in patients treated with thyroid hormone products. These include urticaria, pruritus, skin rash, flushing, angioedema, various GI symptoms (abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea), fever, arthralgia, serum sickness and wheezing. Hypersensitivity to levothyroxine itself is not known to occur.
Avatar n tn I am on Amitriptyline 20mgs nocte for cluster headaches, praxiline 100mgs nocte for leg cramps and levothyroxine 25mcgs could these be contributing to this problem?
