1635362 tn?1302041279 I have hypothyroidism as well and am also on levothyroxine. I took it for a very long time and we tried for seven years to get pregnant on our own, without it working. Finally, we gave IVF a try and are now five weeks pregnant! Good luck!
Avatar n tn Hi Dr. I have ringing and pressure in my left ear along with an inflammed feeling in my thyroid gland. I feel horrible and everyday it's a struggle to keep going. Even my gums ache. I've been to the ent for the ringing in my ear and sinusitis. I use a neti pot and just finished antibiotics but I'm still no better. Now it seems my sinuses are better but my thyroid is burning. I am hypothyroid and I'm on levothyroxine .050.

Avatar m tn How much time will it take for the hair to regrow and when will this facial puffiness go?Should I increase my levothyroxine dose?
Avatar f tn I have had hypothyroidism (hashimotos disease) for 12yrs now, I do take levothyroxine for it and haven't had any problems with it since diagnosis. Recently I was diagnosed with herpes 2. My questions are: 1) since I already have an autoimmune disease are there any correlations between hypothyroidism and herpes? 2) Is a person more susceptible to getting herpes because of prior immune issues? 3) will having herpes affect my thyroid in any way down the road?
Avatar f tn My doctor recently told me that my thyroid was underactive and prescribed me Levothyroxine 50mg. Is there any risk that this is going to cause the thyroid to atrophy since it won't be stimulated to work anymore?
Avatar f tn I had my blood tested and then retested for hypothyroidism. MY TSH was 5.6 the first time. This last test included a T3 and T4 profile. I do not know what these last results were, but my PCP put me on 25 mcg of levothyroxine (after the results of this last test). I had a bout with AFib last year (just the one time) and they think it was caused by anxiety. One of the side effects of the levothyroxine is irregular heartbeat.
1753423 tn?1312991992 With proper regulation of TSH with levothyroxine, the fertility rate and miscarriage rate is greatly improved in patients with Hashimoto's.
Avatar f tn I started taking levothyroxine as my doctor thinks I could be developing hypothyroidism. I have taken it now for two days, is it normal to feel fluish symptoms and have headaches/achy feeling? If so how long can I expect it to last.
Avatar m tn I know im in the wrong forum but would like to know if you know about high blood pressure and hypothyroidism. My Tsh level was around 8 and my bp was 150 over 90. I am on levothyroxine 50 mcg and taking blood pressure pills 2 a day. I am 24 years old and have high both of these issues.I have no sex drive or desire at all.I dont get any morning or night erections and erections are to weak for penetration.
Avatar n tn I was found to have mild hypothyroidism and was prescribed Levothyroxine sodium 50mcg daily by my doctor. I started taking the medicine and a week later, I had severe gas problem in my abdomen (more in the lower abdomen) and muscle cramps at the lower back region. I thought it was due to some foodstuff related gas problem. It persisted for 2 days. When I took simethicone (Phazyme 180mg softgel), the bloaty feeling subsided and muscle cramps subsided.
Avatar f tn It could be that your Free T3 level isn't optimal, especial if you're on only levothyroxine. I know how you feel, I've gained a lot of weight too. I just checked my own levels last month, including the FT3 since my endo only wants to test the TSH and FT4. I'm within the reference range but almost at the bottom (2,5 and the lowest is 2,3) And I'm only on levothyroxine as well so I kind of suspect I don't covert very well or my levothyroxine dose needs to be raised.
Avatar f tn I had to cut back from 75mcg back to 50mcg as well. The headache ugh! "if you get a job and it would take my mind off my thyroid issue" Sounds like your new ex doctor eh?
Avatar f tn If levothyroxine dose is high then that gives symptoms of hyperthyroidism. Checking free t4 and free t3 values is useful in such cases.
5054005 tn?1362922551 The treatment for hypothyroidism is to take thyroid hormones to increase the metabolic rate. Levothyroxine (also called L-thyroxine or T4) is a synthetic form of the thyroid hormone thyroxine and is used to treat hypothyroidism.
Avatar f tn For years, my hair has been thinning... not to the extent of having bald spots or anything, but it is about 1/2 as thick as it was 4-5 years ago. My doctors were monitoring my thyroid levels due to prior hypothyroid diagnosis and nodules that were discovered about 15 years (hypo) and 5 years (nodules) ago. Over the summer, I broke out in hives for no reason.
Avatar f tn I have been taking levothyroxine to treat my thyroid problem, I am up to 125mcg. I find no side affects listed about skin problems, but I sure am having them. Anyone have any input?
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm currently 5 weeks pregnant and was diagnosed with mild hypothyroidism on August 12th (TSH 4.53). Started taking levothyroxine 25mcg on August 20th and found out that I conceived a week after I started taking medication. However the most recent blood work done on September 1st showed a rise in TSH. My current readings are: TSH 7.83 normal range 0.34 - 5.60 U/ml FreeT3 3.0 normal range 2.0 - 4.
Avatar f tn Endo increased my Levothyroxine dosage from 50 to 150 mcg. (100 in the morning and 50 before dinner). I hope increase in dosage is not drastic. I am on my fist week of new dose. I hope all these discomforts go away SOON. I would appreciate any advice/feedback. Thank you.
Avatar m tn My dog has had hypothyroidism for several years and has been on 0.2 mg of Levothyroxine twice daily ever since. Recently, when they did a check on his T4 they found that it was low and they increased it immediately to 0.4 mg. A week or two later he began to significantly pant and wheeze. Then he decided to give him 150 mg of Theophylline twice daily. Could the thyroid dose change have caused these symptoms or is it a coincidence?
Avatar f tn Was Hashimoto's Thyroididtis the cause for your hypothyroidism? Do you have any other symptoms that indicate you might still be slightly hypo? Please post your thyroid related test results and reference ranges shown on the lab report.
497348 tn?1283436066 So I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism about three months ago and since then life has been hell... I started a .100 of levothyroxine on a monday, by thursday I was in the E.R for feeling panic and dizzy... never felt that way before... till this day we are still getting the TSH level to be normal but I am still feeling the symptom of being dizzy.... and a little fatigue my doctor thinks I have anxiety I dont know what else to do is this normal? has anyone else felt like this?
Avatar f tn t done well on Levothyroxine. For the previous 8 months I was taking generic 137 mcg. I developed high blood pressure and insomnia with the occasional anxiety. Two months ago I started taking Tirosint at a lower dose 112. Blood pressure better but recently have been prone to extreme panic attacks. They have gotten so bad I have developed agraphobia. I recently had T4 & T3 checked but are at a normal level. Is there anything else I can do?
Avatar f tn Since you are taking levothyroxine, and not being tested for Free T3 and Free T4, I suggest that your first step should be to get that testing done, in order to find out your actual levels. If the doctor resists, just insist on it and don't take no for an answer. It is that important. Since hypo patients are also frequently too low in the ranges for Vitamin D, B12 and ferritin, I suggest getting those tested as well.
Avatar n tn It is difficult to know if the cramps are due to the hypothyroidism itself or the levothyroxine (ie synthroid) -- or simply too much levothyroxine. If you have hypothyroidism, it is not a good idea to stop meds altogether -- work with your doctor to find the right dose that keeps your TSH around 1.0 or so.
Avatar f tn i really want to lose weight and i cant do much exercise on the treadmill like i used to cos my knees cant take it!!!
