Avatar m tn I have been having problems with hypoglycemia and I was also have fatigue for the past couple months - my arms and legs felt tired and I feel like I was craving sleep. My doctor found my TSH was 9.8 (5.4 high limit normal). All other blood panel items were normal including fasting insulin. He started me on 50mg levothyroxine. 2 days after I started taking levothyroxine, I felt like I had ALOT of energy, more than I've had in years. I've felt this way for 2 weeks.

Avatar n tn I have been on levothyroxine for 3 months now, I feel wonderfull and am loosing weight. However my Dr recently put me on Metformin for PCOS and Insulin Resistance, I feel terrible! All I want to do is sleep. GI probelms not bothersome. My doc said to stop the Metformin and I feel normal again. How can I get my insulin down without feeling like crap? My pharmacist also said the 2 drugs interact with eachother. Please Help!
Avatar n tn Hyperthyroidism is more associated with arrhythmia than hypo -- so unless the levothyroxine dose is too much for you (ie low TSH) then this is not likely the culprit.
Avatar f tn s thyroiditis almost a year ago after an 8kg weight gain (from 63kg) and feeling cold constantly. Started on 50micrograms and now on 50 one day and 75 the next. Two questions: 1. I've not lost any of the weight even though i eat healthily and exercise alot. How can I? Is there certain vitamins i'm lacking or certain sorts of food i should eat or avoid? 2. I'm VERY active and wondering whether i need to change my dosage depending on exercise (bit like diabetics change injections). E.
1773104 tn?1314155711 Certainly hypoglycemia can trigger anxiety and panic, but rarely would it be the sole cause behind it. It is common for someone new to anxiety to do serious soul searching to try and find a logical "reason" behind the new emergence of anxiety and panic. We turn into detectives and try to find a sensible reason why it showed up (most times seemingly "out of the blue").
Avatar n tn well this could be the hypoglycemia, i too have it but dont often have symptoms because i eat constantly and eat candy often. but i am no doctor so you should definately ask your doctor about it. hypoglycemia seems to be thought of as not serious, but in fact its just as serious as diabetes, and also can progress like diabetes. you may have been told this 5 years ago but it may have progressed to a higher level. it could be worse. you need to have your doctor check your blood sugar levels.
Avatar f tn s not the sovaldi but the peg/riba combo that will cause thyroid problems Endocrine Disorders Pegasys causes or aggravates hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. Hyperglycemia, hypoglycemia, and diabetes mellitus have been observed to develop in patients treated with Pegasys. Patients with these conditions at baseline who cannot be effectively treated by medication should not begin Pegasys therapy.
Avatar f tn My doctor is requesting me to see a Dietician and treating my Hypoclycemia. I am very concerned that my thyroid is what is causing this hypoglycemia. I researched and found that overdose of Levothyroxine can cause Hypoglycemia. I do not think i am "overdosing" just taking too much right now. I was taking the following: cytomel 5 mcg tablets twice a day and levoxyl 100 mcg once a day doctor recomended that I lower my levoxyl to .
Avatar n tn Have you had a glucose tolerance test to see if your body produces too much insulin as a reaction when you eat? This is a different test from having a simple blood sugar test -- you must drink a sugary solution and blood is drawn several times to see how your body is reacting. Unfortunately, when people have what is called REACTIVE HYPOGLYCEMIA (when the body reacts by over-producing insulin, which causes hypoglycemia), it can be difficult to show in a test.
1465641 tn?1286252825 ok so i have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism since july of this year and i am taking 88mg of levothyroxine and usually i am not hungry really i can eat once or twice a day and feel stuffed lol and now for the past few days i have been excessivley hungry to where i am eating like 8 times a day and i dont know why even after i eat i am still hungry and i have been having a higher temperature then normal and horrid headaches....
Avatar n tn You may not know that a dry mouth which can feel like thirst is one of the symptoms of hypoglycemia as well as diabetes. And logic tells us that if your mouth is dry and you are drinking lots of fluids, you will urinate often. I am a tightly-controlled type 1 diabetic, and the dry mouth feeling that I get when my glucose is low is almost identical to the sensation of having high blood sugar.
Avatar m tn yes, i was diagnosed with hypoglycemia of some kind, at the doctors office my blood pressure was 70/50 i felt dizzy, its always low, and my resting heart rate is 45 or so , and i do smoke which i think is wierd, i used to exercise a little, plus i also take klonopin and zoloft......
Avatar n tn Is hypoglycemia the same as diabetes? What's the difference between type 1 and type2 diabetes? is it the age of the person that makes the difference between the two types?
Avatar n tn Many people have some hypoglycemia(through increased insulin sensitivity) after they exercise and the effect can last for hours afterwards. If you are on insulin, you can decrease your dose prior to exercising. Otherwise, you can eat some additional carbs prior to exercising and also afterwards, with some complexed in a meal so that it lasts for a while to prevent hypoglycemia later.
Avatar n tn If not, then perhpas the narcotic medication is to blame and another medication should be considered. Pain is miserable, but hypoglycemia can be life-threatening (especially when driving), so an alternative medication would perhaps be the smarter approach even if pain is not treated quite as well with it.
Avatar f tn Another good one is Tirosint, which is a gelcap and contains only glycerine, water, Levothyroxine and gelatin. Tirosint tends to be the most expensive, but the manufacturer has programs for those who qualify. Is TSH the only thyroid related blood test that's being performed regularly? What about Free T4 and Free T3? Those are the actual thyroid hormones.
Avatar f tn Trembling, fatigue and headaches after meals may be caused by postprandial hypoglycemia or reactive hypoglycemia. To verify this diagnosis, you need to check your blood sugar level ( a blood glucose level that falls below 70mg/dL). This condition usually occurs in individuals who do not have diabetes. Associated symptoms include sweating, dizziness, anxiety, confusion, weakness and difficulty with speech.
Avatar f tn I have hep c and recently diagnosed woith hypoglycemia im very scared what will happen to me TY KRISTINE SMITH
1654177 tn?1319838494 I seem to keep my weight down too easily these days, I eat a lot, and I only mildly exercise (walking, hiking and pilates). Anyway, I told my doctor at Kaiser and she ran a random blood glucose test (non-fasting). My blood sugar was 68 ml/dl, the standard range is 70-140 ml/dl. She says to just eat less carbs and do more cardio exercise, and that this could be pre-diabetes. The part that concerns me is the numb feet.
Avatar f tn Actoplusmet along with diet has caused daily reading to be perfectly between 80 and 120 and A1C levels have averaged between 5.5 and 5.0. This is all without any exercise program (I do stand and walk all day, but that's all). All of this is to say that I want to take as few medications as possible. I was also prescribed Lexapro, Lamictal, and Welbutrin for dystymia and anxiety. I recently taperd off the Lexapro.
Avatar n tn If not, I would go back to your PCP and request a full panel blood test for thyroid, metabolic panel, adrenals and Vit D and DHEA and B12. I would not wait until May to get this done but keep your appt. with endo.
6918915 tn?1395932871 I suddenly get very light headed, dizzy, anxious, hot, sweaty and STARVING. I think this is hypoglycemia but not totally sure and I'm going to ask my doctor on Monday at my appt. It happened here and there a few weeks ago but now it's been happening every day and its awful. I end up literally stuffing my face with anything I can find that has sugar because my body feels like that's my only instinct. Then after like 20 minutes of eating and putting my head down I feel better.
1662361 tn?1302762372 I just feel sick all the time, and dizzy and i get really shaky and, Nothing I have been doing is working. I Have noticed my stomach hurting alot and i went to the dr for that and I had a Bactria infection. A friend told me that I could have an ulcer or it could be my sugar levels. I am just looking for advice to tell my dr? or any advice anyone could give me.
Avatar f tn I have a follow up appointment with my doctor tomorrow question is is this something that I would have to take medication for regularly while pregnant. I already feel I'm taking too much medication now antibiotics for tooth infection plus tylenol #3 something for nausea prenatal vitamins and now this hypoglycemia. through all this I'm just praying that my baby is healthy.
Avatar f tn Been checking it on and off and reading a lot on the subject but no definite answer as to what I need to be watching for in the future. It ranges from being in the 60s to 120s. The highest I've ever saw it go is 122 but that was two hours after eating.
Avatar n tn Low blood sugars can be VERY scary and hard to deal with. You may want to talk to your Dr. about getting a prescription and training as to how to use a Glucophage kit. This is essentially a large dose of sugar in the form of a shot to use in severe low blood sugar situations. Also you will need to have those around you trained in its use as well in case you can not get food and sugar fast enough on your own.
