Common Questions and Answers about Levothroid pills

synthroid

Avatar m tn I was on as much as 300+ of the synthroid, levothroid, whatever else. When I was 1st diagnosed, I was on as many as 16 pills a day. My body was not absorbing the medication. I was finally put on levothyroxine, an injection form of the levothyroid. This was able to be absorbed into my system with 2 shots every other day. Now, this medication is no longer available and I was back to square one. A shot in the dark led my doctor to thyroid armour.
Avatar n tn Forest laboratories make Armour, Thyrolar and Levothroid. Reading the article entitled "Does Forest Really Want to Save Natural Thyroid?" by Mary Shomon, it's obvious that Levothroid is Forest's drug of choice. Must be as cheap as chips to make Levothroid IMO. "Forest's synthetic T4/T3 medication is unavailable/backordered/no return date, and Forest's natural T4/T3 medication is unavailable/backordered/no return date.
Avatar f tn Hope someone can help. I have had low to no thyroid function all my life. I was on synthroid made by "flint" from the age of 4. When flint stopped making it I had to switch to the now "synthroid brand and have had several allergic reactions. My doctor switched me to levothroid made by forest and it was awesome no side effects no swelling in my tongue or throat. I had no swallowing problems.
Avatar f tn Some people do ok on it but some need to add levoxyl or levothroid. I dont like syndroid. I think it is a terrible thyroid medication. It cause your hair to fall out very badly! I did take valerian root capsules or gels -2-3 pills for the migraine because excedrin would not work. Try valerian root capsules. I hope you feel better!
Avatar f tn s old and has had hypothryoidism and hypoglycemia for several years. He takes one 200MCG tablet of levothroid every day. REcently, he started having severe chest pains. Last Sunday, they were so bad we took him to the ER where they performed all sorts of heart tests and determined it wasn't his heart. They also performed an ultrasound and upper GI and the technician performing them told my husband he saw no signs of reflux or abnormalities there, yet his doctor called him two days later..

1263014 tn?1318032697 Well, I went to the doc and she was reluctant to run any new tests on me....ugggg Kaiser. she did get an MRA which was negative.....I told her to humor me and switch me back to whatever brand levothyroxine kaiser is using because I felt better on the batch I had right after surgery. It cost me $30 as opposed to $4 at Wal-Mart. When I got the bottle home, I had the stock bottle because Kaiser fills 90 days at a time.
Avatar f tn I am 32 and we r planning for a baby now. I have been on and off hypothyroid treatment from 2002. but my TSH was never higher than 11.5(thatz my highest reading before the last week's test result which is 37.62). My T3 and T4 are always in normal range. but i have a slightly higher antibodies. My TSH was 7 in june2011 and so i was on Levothroid 0.025mg for 9 months. Then my TSH dropped to 0.23. So i was asked to stop my medicines. After 2 months i again took a TSH test. Now TSH is 37.62.
Avatar f tn 1 everyday the trouble began. My potassium was also very low. By accident, I put a full .1 dose in my everyday box of pills instead of the 1/2 on two days. I was on this for probably a month. I had a complete mental breakdown. Now I"m told I'm hypothyroid. They with held my levothroid for three days then put me BACK on the .1 daily. I am noticing lots of symptoms for being hypo. My hair is falling out, I can't wake up, my skin is dry and I gain a pound every day or so!
1182559 tn?1305787988 Yes - most likely hashimoto's with appropriate increase in levothroid w/ TSH of 5.9. The nodule should be considered for FNA biopsy. 90-95% of these are benign. The overall size of thyroid is normal.
Avatar f tn Was dx with Graves disease almost 12 yrs ago and had the radioactive iodine treatment at that time. Was placed on thyroid medication and seemed to tolerate it with no problems with allergic reactions. For the past 5 months I've been dealing with medication problems and difficulty adjusting my thyroid levels. It went over active and then underactive. I've been on both generic and brand name Levothyroxine.
Avatar n tn Hello. I had a total thyoidectomy in 1995 and have been on a suppressive dose of Levothroid ever since. I have already developed osteoporosis, which I have been told is most likely connected to the Levothroid dosage. Recently, I have been reading about an additional connection between high thryroid hormone levels and Alzheimer's Disease. I am extremely concerned about this issue. If you can give further information, I would be very grateful. Thank you.
899045 tn?1241824973 I have been working really hard with my weight-loss, I exercise more than most people I know in my weight loss group, 65oz of water per day, 20-25 carbs, Veggies, Lean meats, no sugars, you name it, I've been doing it. I am also HypoThyroid and on 50mcg of Levothroid. My weight loss had been a upward battle, very hard battle. Anyhow, I spoke to a Dr. on the phone (My Dr. is out on leave), she looked at my chart and said that as we get older, we exercise less. I am only 35.
Avatar f tn After the diagnosis of Hashimitos (I already have cholitis), I have been taking 75mcg levothroid and the node disappeared. None of my symptoms have disappeared, however. I gained 45 lbs in a 2 year period mostly around my stomach and my tissue around my neck (clavicle) are noticeably swollen. I have fatigue, sore, achy body especially my lower back and right hip. I am not the same person. I went back to my family physician and he did blood tests. TSH was high, but T4 and T3 were normal.
Avatar f tn I got my results to TSH tests and the doctor put me on Levothroid. My number was 2.6. Is this high or low? I was reading about the side effects and they are enough to scare me away from taking this medicine. I'd appreciate any help from anyone familiar with this drug. I definitely don't need to lose any hair and don't have the privilaedgo ot time to become nasty tempered or hyper. I have a husband to take care of and he drives me nuts at times through no fault of his own.
526566 tn?1212531197 Do you think it would hurt me to take my levothroid though? I have so many symptoms... Cold , dry skin, Major memory loss, weight gain, tired and lethargic. The dr. had me on it before then another dr. said Ill need it later but not now. SO i stopped taking it.. Now all these symptoms have happened. I am very active.. Work out faithfully. 3 miles on the treadmiill 6x a week.. I still gain weight. My hair is thin, brittle and falls out. What exactly does 6500tpo ab mean anyways..
Avatar m tn So, the GP and I decided to lower my levothroid to 112 mcg. My TSH was about .67 at the time. The lowered levothroid seemed to help with the anxiety and dry skin and teeth grinding. I did not feel better, just different; it is hard to explain. Then, after 7 months, my TSH came back at 4.63. Yikes! Doc and I upped dose back to 125mcg. Within two weeks, the anxiety came back as well as the floating weird feelings and the headaches were nonstop.
Avatar n tn I was on 125mcgs of levothroid. How much would I be on on compounded thyroid?
Avatar m tn I have a 6 cm cyst on my right ovary. The GYN doctor has recommended a total hysterectomy for me because I also have endometriosis. I had a cyst removed from my left ovary ~10 years ago, at which time they discovered the endometriosis. However, they did not do a hysterectomy at that time. I'm 46 and in good shape otherwise. I'm nowhere near menopause that I can tell and don't want to be on any more hormone replacements. I'm hypothyroid and take levothroid.
