Avatar m tn TSH Results: 6/16/08 <0.004 7/8/06 <0.004 9/2/06 <0.004 TSH Standard Range: 0.450 - 5.5 uIU/mL Optimal Range 1.3-1.8 Free T4 Results: 6/16/08 ----------- 1.9 7/8/06 ------------- 1.8 FT4 Normal Range 0.8-1.7 ng/dL Optimal Range 1.2-1.3 Does anyone here find a TSH of <0.004 not alarming? My mom's symptoms include overall body pain, joint pains, heart palpitations, sugar cravings, shaking intermittently when she misses her meal. VERY IRRITABLE. Very Short temper.
Avatar f tn The hives could be a reaction to the binders/fillers in the Levothroid. You might want to talk to your doctor about changing brand of medication. If you're in the US, maybe you could switch to Synthroid or something.
1182559 tn?1305787988 Will this go down eventually with just the medication? My last TSH level was 5.90 with a normal T4-FREE. My doctor just upped my rx to .75mcg of Levothroid.
Avatar f tn Was dx with Graves disease almost 12 yrs ago and had the radioactive iodine treatment at that time. Was placed on thyroid medication and seemed to tolerate it with no problems with allergic reactions. For the past 5 months I've been dealing with medication problems and difficulty adjusting my thyroid levels. It went over active and then underactive. I've been on both generic and brand name Levothyroxine.
Avatar f tn Hope someone can help. I have had low to no thyroid function all my life. I was on synthroid made by "flint" from the age of 4. When flint stopped making it I had to switch to the now "synthroid brand and have had several allergic reactions. My doctor switched me to levothroid made by forest and it was awesome no side effects no swelling in my tongue or throat. I had no swallowing problems.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm fairly new, this is the first time I've really needed help. I took the radioactive cocktail years ago because I was hyper thyroid. I've been controlled fairly well up until recently. I was taking .1 five days a week, and half that dose on the other two days of the week. Tests were normal, but I couldn't tell you the numbers. When the dose was changed to .1 everyday the trouble began. My potassium was also very low. By accident, I put a full .
Avatar f tn I love that my insurance companies website lets me see the medication the doctor prescribes the most. That is very helpful than waiting for the appointment and finding they don't like the medication I am on.
Avatar n tn Should my TSH level or should my T3 and T4 levels be what determines the amount of medication I require? I am female and 62 years old. As an added piece of information, 18 months ago, I learned that I have a non-functioning adrenal adenoma. Thank you for your help.
Avatar m tn my doctor called me and asked if I was taking my sythroid after my blood test.. Never asked why he was asking but I was taking it every day. Why would a doctor ask and then never mention it again This discussion is related to synthroid with armour ???.
Avatar f tn With my experience, it took a year to figure out where my dosage should be. I was hyper. I took 200mcg of Synthroid for about 13 years, now they have changed my dosage to 125mcg of Levothroid. I think that everyone is different when it comes to dosage and how long it will take for your body to show some kind of difference. I had to be tested every 6 weeks with so may dosage adjustments. Just make sure you keep your appointments when it comes to checking the hormone levels.
Avatar m tn First of all can you explain the symptoms between hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidismm?? No doctor ever told which one I am suffering from?? I a assuming because I can sleep and even sit still during the day that it has to be Hyperthyroidism. Next I was receiving medical assistance through the state of Pennsylvania after I lost my job. Now I have no insurance, meaning, I cannot pick up my Effexor XR, Levothroid, Zocor (for cholesteral)and also my trazadone for sleep.
Avatar n tn I went to a doctor and he perscribed me Levothroid 50mg tab. I took this medicine for two years, the TSH was 1.85 (0.40-4.50). I stopped taking the medication and I haven't taken it for a year and over this time, I had a TSH 3rd generation 6.2-5.23. I have high blood pressure, I take Lisinopril for that. The Triglycerides constantly grows, I now have a bad cholesterol (all 3). The sugar also has been high for quite some time ( I took the test 14 hours after eating).
Avatar f tn and has anyone had any luck of getting rid of it with regulation of their thyroid medication..
Avatar n tn suggested that it is possible that not the medication that is causing the flare- but the buffers, binders and coloring in the tablet may be the culprit. So he changed it from the levothyroxine to levothroid, and that seems to be working fine. I remembered reading somwhere that if you begin taking a medication, even an over the counter med- if you start having symptoms then that's probably the cause, try another and see if the symptoms subside. interesting! Thanks for your comment!
Avatar m tn I've been on Thyroid Meds (Levothroid) .125mcg for about 7 years. My last physical showed my TSH level at around 3.0 uIU/ml. Kaiser Medical uses a 0.4-4.00 uIU/ml as their "TSH Standard Range" I had another physical and blood test in Feb this year. My TSH levels were 8.2 with Free T4 at 0.89 (0.70-1.48 ng/dL) "normal range". My PCP started me on a new dosage of Levothroid .050mcg which I took for about 3 weeks. With this new doseage my TSH levels increase to 0.84.
Avatar f tn My doctor recently changed my thyroid medication from Levothroid to Armour thyroid. Could that be the cause?
1263014 tn?1318032697 Well, I went to the doc and she was reluctant to run any new tests on me....ugggg Kaiser. she did get an MRA which was negative.....I told her to humor me and switch me back to whatever brand levothyroxine kaiser is using because I felt better on the batch I had right after surgery. It cost me $30 as opposed to $4 at Wal-Mart. When I got the bottle home, I had the stock bottle because Kaiser fills 90 days at a time.
Avatar f tn I am 32 and we r planning for a baby now. I have been on and off hypothyroid treatment from 2002. but my TSH was never higher than 11.5(thatz my highest reading before the last week's test result which is 37.62). My T3 and T4 are always in normal range. but i have a slightly higher antibodies. My TSH was 7 in june2011 and so i was on Levothroid 0.025mg for 9 months. Then my TSH dropped to 0.23. So i was asked to stop my medicines. After 2 months i again took a TSH test. Now TSH is 37.62.
Avatar m tn thanks for responses. I too have taken t4 for 16 years. But, not always the same brand. It has changed as my doctors and insurance have changed over the years. Currently, I have an HMO in california. Let's just say their commercials say "thrive" but their doctors say, F off. about 3 years ago things started to change for me and no one can figure out why. The PCP sends me to ENT who says there is nothing wrong who sends me to Endo who says my labs are fine.
1469311 tn?1286573186 s Disease is the cause, then that would explain the possible need for more medication over time, to avoid hypo symptoms. How much medication are you taking and what type?
