Levothroid medication

Common Questions and Answers about Levothroid medication

synthroid

Avatar f tn The hives could be a reaction to the binders/fillers in the Levothroid. You might want to talk to your doctor about changing brand of medication. If you're in the US, maybe you could switch to Synthroid or something.
Avatar m tn You should remember that I did start you on levothroid and I have been reducing your medication dose for last few years from 100 mcg a day as far as I can remember to the current 75 mcg 1/2 tab daily. I also refer you to endocrinology few years ago and Dr. ******* did your thyroid biopsy but did not give advice about whether you should take more or less levothroid. Go to www.thyroid-info.com/articles/muscle-joint-pain.htm. They have mention hyperthyroid usually don't cause pain.
Avatar f tn Was dx with Graves disease almost 12 yrs ago and had the radioactive iodine treatment at that time. Was placed on thyroid medication and seemed to tolerate it with no problems with allergic reactions. For the past 5 months I've been dealing with medication problems and difficulty adjusting my thyroid levels. It went over active and then underactive. I've been on both generic and brand name Levothyroxine.
1182559 tn?1305787988 Will this go down eventually with just the medication? My last TSH level was 5.90 with a normal T4-FREE. My doctor just upped my rx to .75mcg of Levothroid.
Avatar f tn Hope someone can help. I have had low to no thyroid function all my life. I was on synthroid made by "flint" from the age of 4. When flint stopped making it I had to switch to the now "synthroid brand and have had several allergic reactions. My doctor switched me to levothroid made by forest and it was awesome no side effects no swelling in my tongue or throat. I had no swallowing problems.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm fairly new, this is the first time I've really needed help. I took the radioactive cocktail years ago because I was hyper thyroid. I've been controlled fairly well up until recently. I was taking .1 five days a week, and half that dose on the other two days of the week. Tests were normal, but I couldn't tell you the numbers. When the dose was changed to .1 everyday the trouble began. My potassium was also very low. By accident, I put a full .
Avatar f tn and has anyone had any luck of getting rid of it with regulation of their thyroid medication..
Avatar n tn suggested that it is possible that not the medication that is causing the flare- but the buffers, binders and coloring in the tablet may be the culprit. So he changed it from the levothyroxine to levothroid, and that seems to be working fine. I remembered reading somwhere that if you begin taking a medication, even an over the counter med- if you start having symptoms then that's probably the cause, try another and see if the symptoms subside. interesting! Thanks for your comment!
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed hypothyroid about ten years ago, was satisfied with levothroid and blood test results for years. moved to new state, got new doc and she switched me to synthroid - during this time other health issues motivated to me change my eating - as of January 2013 - I am a Nutritarian thanx to dr joel fuhrman.
Avatar n tn Should my TSH level or should my T3 and T4 levels be what determines the amount of medication I require? I am female and 62 years old. As an added piece of information, 18 months ago, I learned that I have a non-functioning adrenal adenoma. Thank you for your help.
Avatar n tn In case of a radiation emergency, can I take potassium iodide along with my Levothroid medication.
Avatar f tn I also have another question. I have a swollen tonsil and it's been that way now for a few weeks. I went to the dr today because it just started hurting, but he said he doesn't think it's strep throat but more likely a viral infection. But last night i had a fever and then this am i woke up with it gone, but now my throat feels terrible =( Could this be from my thyroid ?
877337 tn?1249844450 Due As compare to men and women percentage women facing this more due to different hormone level. Levothroid balances thyroid hormone level. for more information on levothroid visit http://www.buylevothroid.
Avatar m tn If you take Synthroid/Levothroid etc.. To soon after you've eaten or eat food high in Vitamin C (broccoli) etc ..... You could deplete all your medicine. It is very important to take your medicine one hour before meals or two hours after your meals. This will safety allow proper absorption.
1263014 tn?1318032697 Well, I went to the doc and she was reluctant to run any new tests on me....ugggg Kaiser. she did get an MRA which was negative.....I told her to humor me and switch me back to whatever brand levothyroxine kaiser is using because I felt better on the batch I had right after surgery. It cost me $30 as opposed to $4 at Wal-Mart. When I got the bottle home, I had the stock bottle because Kaiser fills 90 days at a time.
Avatar f tn With my experience, it took a year to figure out where my dosage should be. I was hyper. I took 200mcg of Synthroid for about 13 years, now they have changed my dosage to 125mcg of Levothroid. I think that everyone is different when it comes to dosage and how long it will take for your body to show some kind of difference. I had to be tested every 6 weeks with so may dosage adjustments. Just make sure you keep your appointments when it comes to checking the hormone levels.
Avatar m tn Now I have no insurance, meaning, I cannot pick up my Effexor XR, Levothroid, Zocor (for cholesteral)and also my trazadone for sleep. The only thing I was able to pick up was my xanax 1mg 2X daily. It was only $19.00. As for the rest, what kind of danger am I going to be in not taking these meds. I have been taken all the above mentioned meds for 3 years or longer. What am I to do??? Thank You. Kevin.
Avatar m tn I've been on Thyroid Meds (Levothroid) .125mcg for about 7 years. My last physical showed my TSH level at around 3.0 uIU/ml. Kaiser Medical uses a 0.4-4.00 uIU/ml as their "TSH Standard Range" I had another physical and blood test in Feb this year. My TSH levels were 8.2 with Free T4 at 0.89 (0.70-1.48 ng/dL) "normal range". My PCP started me on a new dosage of Levothroid .050mcg which I took for about 3 weeks. With this new doseage my TSH levels increase to 0.84.
Avatar f tn My doctor recently changed my thyroid medication from Levothroid to Armour thyroid. Could that be the cause?
