4658567 tn?1364142123 How effective do you think the plan b pill is? Do you think that taking 1 within the 72 hours after sex and another one 48 hours after the first pill- would ensure they work???

Avatar f tn I'm 16 and me and my boyfriend had unprotected sex last tuesday night (Aug 30). He pulled out before his release and was sure that none got in my vagina (withdrawal method). I wasn't quite convinced and started taking "Lady" emergency contraceptive pill. It contains levonorgestrel and ethinyl estradiole. It's my first time so I wanna ask if it's okay even if I start taking it even when I'm not on my period yet?
Avatar n tn Since this original post we have visited a doctor and my wife has taken the ECP levonorgestrel. She took the first pill ~32hrs after the event and a second pill about 12hrs later as per doctor's instruction. We were unable to visit a doctor prior to this late hour due to the holiday season (Chinese New Year) over here resulting in clinics being closed. Unfortunately ECPs are not available as an over the counter drug at pharmacies.
Avatar m tn During ovulation, I injected during sex. An hour later, I took the 72-hour emergency contraceptive levonorgestrel, two tablets of 0.75 mg. Is my girlfriend more likely to get pregnant? Sorry, my English is not very good.
Avatar m tn 12 hours after the encounter, i took a levonorgestrel 1.5mg single dose. 10 days after taking the pill (which is today), i've not been feeling anything but tired. no spotting no sensation of vomiting. what are the chances that i could be pregnant? i'm so anxious !!
Avatar f tn It is a emergency contraceptive pill which is consumed after unprotected intercourse within 72 hours. Plan B contains Levonorgestrel and Progestin hormones which obstructs the process of ovulation. It also blocks the sperms from entering the uterus hence preventing the pregnancy. The pills which you are talking about are abortion pills whose process is similar to miscarriages.
Avatar n tn I do not know whether she or I had any precum on our hands from my organ but just to be sure and safe 1.5mg Levonorgestrel (Plan B or Unwanted 72) was taken about 12 hours later (around 10.45am on 24th September 2011). Both of us are not sure whether we had precum. I touched only the outer side of outer lip and nowhere near the opening of her vagina. She covered it two times during the occasion with her hands to stop me.
Avatar f tn Hi guys sorry I am new here, So my wife is a virgin and we had non penetrative sex and some sperm was left on her vagina and we got worried that she could get pregnant then she took emergency contraceptive (levonorgestrel) 48 hours after. Then after 2 days we did non penetrative sex again and we got worried about pregnancy and she took emergency contraception again. This is emergency contraceptive twice in a week.
Avatar n tn I've been prescribed a course of Rigevidon and when I searched information about this pill, I was alarmed because there is a petition to say this pill should be withdrawn. People as young as 23 have died and had stroke. While I understand that there is always a risk of DVT, depression or stroke when taking contraceptive pills, I was thinking, there are other brand of pills which contains more or less the same hormones ethinylestradiol and levonorgestrel. So should I be concerned?

Avatar m tn Yesterday night (11h ago), the condom that me and my boyfriend were using malfunctioned and he ejaculated inside of me. We went to the farmacy and bought Norlevo morning after pill (1.5mg levonorgestrel). I took it right away (~2h after the intercourse). Today I was googling about the subject and found out that there is another type of pill that has an higher success rate (EllaONe - 30mg ulipristal acetate). Can I still take this one? Will it reduce my chances of getting pregnant? Thank you!
Avatar f tn One pill could work but two would be better. Maybe she was not on her fertile days anyway - cycle days 8 through 16 of 28. She can find out more about that by downloading a period tracking app. If her next period shows up missing, that would be a good time to run a home pregnancy test. Best of luck!
Avatar f tn Im planning on having sex for the first time. Me and my partner agreed to use a condom. Parents are strict, so I can't go on the pill. Im soo so nervous about becoming pregnant. Should I buy Plan B and use a condom too? Please help.
Avatar n tn Or is it simply upregulated, and if so what are the consequences of that? I recently switched for alesse which has levonorgestrel. I read this progestin has the worst effect on cholesterol levels. How significant is this effect? And finally, how significant are nutrient depletions wile using the pill? I saw research done on it decades ago, but don't see much research on the topic concerning lower dose pills.
Avatar f tn 15g of levonorgestrel, which is used in the morning after pill/emergency contraceptive pill at a higher dosage.
Avatar f tn The only available medication that can be used to prevent pregnancy after unprotected intercourse is Plan B (Levonorgestrel). This is available over-the-counter but must be purchased at a pharmacy (it is kept behind the counter due to Federal Law) and is available for patients aged 17 and over. However, this medication is only effective if taken up to 72 hours after unprotected intercourse to prevent pregnancy and is not used to terminate an existing pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Also, I took a pill after maybe around 14 hours after? I took the Levonorgestrel 3x/day and I am on my 3rd day taking it so I already consumed 9 tabs. Can I still get pregnant? I am so anxious and paranoid because I am still in the university and just about to reach my dreams. I am also too young to conceived and I was raised in a society which pre-marital sex is not honored. I am so shameful about myself to be honest.
Avatar m tn Each tablet contains 0.75mg Levonorgestrel. and told me not to worry nothing will happen. but i am afraid please tell me if there is any chances of getting pregnant let me precise the whole thing 1- we were enjoying dry humping. (no intercourse and dry humping with full clothes on) he was on top 2- i am a virgin girl, never had sex before. not even this time, it was just dry humping. 3- my last periods were ended on 4th Feb. they were in between 29 jan to 4 feb.
Avatar n tn please guide me on this. what dosage of this birth control pill should i consume so that it acts as a morning after pill (emergency contraceptive).
Avatar f tn ( Could Plan B have stopped implantation? Do I still have a high possibility of getting pregnant? Please HELP!!!!!
Avatar n tn I was recommended microgynon 30 which contains ethinylestradiol 30 mcg / levonorgestrel 150 mcg. I took the pill on the first day of my period at 10pm That evening I lost the pill pack and as microgynon 30 wasn't available at the GP's office, I was instead put on Gedarel 30/150 which contains ethinylestradiol 30 mcg / desogestrel 150 mcg.
689265 tn?1251130087 i took levonelle. It's one pill. I'm in England. I'm really worried because i've found out this pill is 50% less effective if taken after 12 hours and with it having been my optimum time to conceive on top of that...
Avatar n tn I had unprotected sex with my GF one week before her period. she took one "plan B" pill (that contains 50 microg of ethinyl estradiol and .5 mg of Levonorgestrel) roughly 24 hours after the intercourse and another 24 hours later 12 hours third one and fourth one 24 hours after that.
Avatar n tn Tony is correct, if you are in fact breastfeeding you should discuss with your OB/GYN a progestin only pill ( a good example would be NORA-BE TABLET) . If not here are some low dose pills to consider.
Avatar f tn Plan B® One-Step is composed of a progestin-only (levonorgestrel) tablet. Levonorgestrel is well-trusted and has been commonly used in many birth control pills for over 35 years. In a clinical trial, women tolerated Plan B® One-Step well; 14% experienced nausea and 1% experienced vomiting.5 Plan B® One-Step is safe and well-tolerated. Some women may experience mild side effects, similar to those of regular birth control pills.
Avatar f tn t sure if he had came inside me.
