My friend has an attack of TB, after 14 years healthy.She is taking Levofloxacin 500. Is there anything available that will do the trick with less side effects, she is quite sick and I'm worried she might not make it. I read a lot that staph infection is much more common in people with hiv but they are also prevalent among HIV negative people. I am currently taking levofloxacin for treatment and had a shot of ceftriaxone. The culture test showed that the staph was sensitive to cipro so my doctor said levox will cover it and it is actually stronger than cipro, is he right? Plus, how did this staph infection cause this discharge?
Took Azithromycin 500 mg for 6 days. Doc put me on a combination with Doxy 100 mg twice a day but I had a reaction to Doxy so I only stuck with Azithromycin. My urine analysis showed moderate growth of Strep Group B as well. Doc said that the co infection with strep group B could be the reason for treatment failure against MG. So I've started a Nitrofurantoin course for 7 days 100 mg twice a day for Strep Group B. Symptoms are better but not fully resolved after Azithromycin.

Since last 8 days I am taking medicines from Gambian Doctor --omeperazole 40 mg twice a day, levofloxacin 500 mg(antibiotic once a day),(I took also tinidazole 2gm for first three days). Then my loose motion got controlled but all other symptoms (cough,pain in chest, acidity,sweating,fatiqueness) are still there
I am afraid , I check internet, is this GERD or HIV. Should I go for these tests?

Those can cure chlamydia and gonorrhea, as well.
these include Azithromycin 1 g single dose, or doxycycline 100 mg twice daily for 7 days, or levofloxacin 500 mg once daily for 7 days, etc. All these regimens are administered orally.
As Chlamydia is a STD, it requires treatment of both partners for effective eradication of infection. Abstinence from sexual intercourse is advised during the course of treatment, but condoms should be used if the infected individuals intend to have sexual intercourse.

I followed up with a urologist. He put me on Cipro for 14 days, 500 mg PO BID. By day 11, the problem finally seemed totally resolved. 5 days after stopping the Cipro, I can feel it beginning to come back.
I have just started isotretinoin treatment for acne. Looking for suggestions that wouldn't require d/c'ing the isotretinoin.

My urine test showed no abnormalities. (My age is 43). He put me on to Paracetamol, (3*3 days) Urispas (3 * 5days) and Levofloxacin 500 mg (1- 14 days). I specifically asked him should i abstain from sex and alcohol during treatment and Doctor suggested I should go ahead my life as normal. I also asked him, if he feared an STI. He was categorical that he does not see an STI threat.
Today results were out and and it was found that I had PROTEUS MIRABILIS in urine. My doctor said it is sexually transmitted and he told to take Levofloxacin 500 mg daily for 7 days.

i used two condoms and very properly but i washed my genitals with soap after 10 minutes after sex. Did i get this infection due to vaginal fluid that would have remained on my public area, which could have come in contact with tip of my penis??
Then after some 2 weeks I developed some small blisters and doctor put me on Famciclovir 500 mg tablets (for herpes simplex) which cured me. No tests were done at this time. Later I went to a specialist STD doctor and he got IGM /IGG tests done which were negative (IGM - 0.08 and IGG - 0.13), This was after aboout 29 days of infection and 12 days since I started taking herpes medicine.
When you got the ceftriaxone, did you get 2 injections, or just one? If you got 2, then you got 500 mg.
Have you asked your doctor why you only got 250 mg? That's what I would do. I don't think they'd need to admit you to the hospital, but should just be able to re-treat you.

The doctor proscribed me 500 mg levofloxacin i took it and it set off every muscle pain in my body he said the rheumatoid that was in my blood 10 years ago got active.
I got off that after 5 days and not being able to walk from bed it felt like it put every muscle on fire even my cheek bone muscles hurt.
He then put me on prednisone 3 tablets of 10 mg to calm down the joint pain i am off it now.
