Avatar n tn Most uncomplicated UTIs can be treated with oral antibiotics such as trimethoprim, cephalosporins, nitrofurantoin, or a fluoroquinolone (e.g., ciprofloxacin or levofloxacin). Trimethoprim is probably the most widely used antibiotic for UTIs and is usually taken for 7 days. It is often recommended that trimethoprim be taken at night to ensure maximal urinary concentrations and increase its effectiveness.
Avatar m tn The reactivity of 13 quinolones (levofloxacin, ofloxacin, pefloxacin, enoxacin, moxifloxacin, gatifloxacin, trovafloxacin, sparfloxacin, lomefloxacin, ciprofloxacin, clinafloxacin, norfloxacin, and nalidixic acid) was tested in 5 commercial opiate screening assays from September 1998 to March 1999. In 6 healthy volunteers, we confirmed the cross-reactivity of levofloxacin or ofloxacin with these opiate screening assays.
Avatar m tn Few weeks later i got a uninary tract infection . for 3 weeks I have and still been under antibiotics (levofloxacin, ciprofloxacin, clarithromycin, doxycycline and cefuroxime ) i went for an Hiv test 6 weeks after exposure and was negative. I once had extreme fatigue for a whole day during this medication.. My question is could these antibiotics delay immune response to Hiv and thus delay antibody production???
Avatar m tn I’m not sexually active it started at my left testicle first antibiotic is levofloxacin for 10 days after that naproxen for 5 days thought I’m getting better then 2 days later pain and swelling went back. My doctor suggested me to a urologist but it’s been 3 weeks and never got a call. I went to emergency for another antibiotic refferal.
Avatar m tn If you want to substitute Cipro for one of these other drugs Cipro is in the same drug class as Levofloxacin. Levofloxacin will have the similar side effect though. Strep group B is the problem allthough it depends on if the prostate sample was collected sterilily such as a biopsy. If so then the virudans strep could also be the problem and viridans strep are more resistant to antibiotics.
Avatar f tn Hi i got diagonised with gonnorhea on 19th october i was given ceftriaxone injection one for 5 days and ciprofloxacin 500mg *2 for five days the symptoms persisted the second time i was given three injections for three days. .
Avatar m tn A ran to my gynecologist and asked for an STD test, however due to lack of discharge he only checked me for chlamydia and he did a general swab. I was given azithromycin for 6 days, ciprofloxacin for 5 days and flagyl ovules. I felt fine after the treatment and my doctor told me i did not have chlamydia. My life went on, i only was experiencing a mild yellowish discharge but i didn't really bother about that (too bad, my mistake).

Avatar m tn Antibiotics that are specific for the urogenital tract include ciprofloxacin, norfloxacin, levofloxacin, and sparfloxacin. Dosages and doses vary basedon the antibiotic you want to start. For example, ciprofloxacin is administered twice daily in 500 mg tablets for 7 days.
Avatar f tn The next major problem that is developing with MG is it is quickly becoming untreatable. Urologists are prescribing 30-45 days of ciprofloxacin and levofloxacin because they think they are treating some benign bacteria that just happens to not culture out. So what do these geniuses do? They blindly prescribe flouroquinlones that do only one thing...make MG resistant to the one antibiotic that still has some success...and that’s Moxifloxacin.
Avatar m tn 5 days.. It was ciprofloxacin... at first i had severe diarrhea on the 29th of December 2011.. actually i woke up with so much gas in my stomach and it was so painful that i crawled to the toilet to induce vomit so the gas would come out. I was going to the toilet for like 10-15 times a day at the start... Then on the 2nd of January 2012, i went to the GP, and the doc gave me ciprofloxacin, says it might be bacteria..
Avatar m tn When that happened I ifgured it must be an STD and went and got tested and everything was negative Ive taken Azithromycin, metroNIDAZOLE, Doxycyline hyclate, ciprofloxacin hcl, and levofloxacin, these all supressed the systoms but it always comes back has been like this for about a year now.
Avatar n tn Be sure to be off of antibiotics for 3 weeks, and test your first void urine only. Also, if you have taken ciprofloxacin of levofloxacin, you can still take Moxifloxacin and have a decent shot of curing the infection, if it’s indeed MG.

Avatar m tn I posted here because I was curious if anyone knew about fluoroquinolone resistance in C. Trachomatis (levofloxacin vs. ciprofloxacin, bacteriostatic or bactericidal effects), or anything along those lines. For anyone reading this in a similar position, I followed up with my urologist over the phone, who advised that a recurrence of swelling and pain after d/c'ing antibiotics is typical with epididymitis and a NSAID like ibuprofen should be all that's needed.
Avatar m tn But if you responded well to fluroquinolones (Ciprofloxacin) you could try a drug called levofloxacin for 3 months at the highest dose. Doctors will be reluctant to prescribe it, but it is necessary. Doctor Bundrick in the USA from Arktalex urology is an expert in this. As is professor Malone lee, both you can book online appointments with if necessary. I’m not giving you medical advice just telling you what I’ve heard work.
Avatar f tn The 2 antibiotics which I took for 4 weeks simultaneously are Levofloxacin and Sulfamethoxazole. The last bout that I had with this s TDI literally doubled dosed on both of them daily for a month straight. It really felt like my body was destroyed and I could barely be alive. I had severe liver pain in my right quadrant and kidney pain on both sides. But it was the only thing that ended up making my prostate pain go away.
Avatar f tn I don't know if I have Trich or not but I was wondering if taking Ciprofloxacin 500mg 2x daily would cure it?

190673 tn?1259203266 Treatment options for non bacterial prostatitis are trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole, levofloxacin or ciprofloxacin for 2 weeks, if condition improves treatment can be continued for about 4-6 weeks. Alpha blockers, finasteride, anti-inflammatory can be used. In case of no improvement then a check for physical abnormalities should be done and treatment for the same should be taken. Best.
