I called my family doctor and she has now prescribed me with 10 days of levofloxacin and has requested that I go in for a urine test to check for chlamydia or gonorrhoea. I also had sex with my girlfriend about 4 days ago before I felt the symptoms return after I had finished my doxy - she has not shown symptoms of anything this entire time. PS.

That is an excellent question, since both antibiotics are fluoroquinalones, the same class of drugs. It is not a good idea to take a "lot of these drugs". Tendon rupture and horrible aches and pains for months can result. People have different genetic tolerances. Careful with Levofloxacin. Sometimes the side effects aren't worth the benefits. I took Levofloxacin to cure a bout of pneumonia. Is 500 mg of Levofloxacin every 48 hours suppose to make a 70 year old diabetic dialysis patient drowsy, fatigued, emotionally disturbed, and delirious? Is it okay to stop the continuing dosage after seeing the affects of the first dose?

the past 2 days i have eating dairy with dinner and i think this is setting it off. i feel fine all day until i eat dinner.

I am six months now and am very limited on dairy. I was at the doctors today and he said a lot of pregnant women go through this and to make sure to get calcium by other means.

It says on my packet not to have any dairy products for 2 hours after taking the medication. I looked it up and dairy products inhibit the workings of the thyroxine medication. have others been told this?

If Levofloxacin caused peripherial neuropathy will Cipro also if I take that as an alternate?

Thank you HowardH, for your response. I don't seem to have any ars symptoms, but I could have had a mild fever for 1-5 days before taking levofloxacin. I'm not sure because I never used a thermometer, and now I wish I did. But if I did, I was functioning relatively well for a fever. This answers my question, but in case anyone else wants more information, I'd like to respond to nursegirl's comments too.

Penicillin, ampicillin, cefotaxime are a similar drug class Cephaloporins and penicillin type drugs, and levofloxacin and cipro are also in their own drug class (quinolones) while vancomycin is a diffierent drug class. Let me know what I can help you with. Or if I answered your question.

m on the medication, azithromycin dosage is over and 2 tablets left for levofloxacin, and my eye redness has reduced a bit and the burning during urination reduced a bit too but not completely gone. What i want to know is:- 1.Will this antibiotic course be enough to cure my conjunctivitis? 2.Should I be taking antibiotic eye drops as well? 3.should i go see an ophthalmologist? 4.My vision gets a bit blurred at times, but washing with water or blinking a few times fixes it.

Hi Loujack I think there have been some studies showing certain antibiotics can cause false positive urine screenings. Do a search and Ask your DR if they know if it is a possibility for a Urine tox screen to come up dirty if your taking certain anti-biotics. I dont know who else you can go to besides your DR except a lab. They may know also. I hope for your sake that it can happen TMA.
