Hydoxyzine worked wonders for me (once I got a high enough dose). I take 25 - 50 mg. every 6 hours. I had a bad rash all over my body except my face and buttocks and it stopped the itching and is clearing the rash.
I wish they would have started it in Dec,. but it seems with these side effects we are all re-inventing the wheel. The docs seem clueless.
For fungal infection many treatment options are there like Clotrimazole 1%, Miconazole nitrate 2%, Tolnaftate 1% and Butenafine hydrochloride 1%. Many OTC products containing these salts are available, your pharmacist can help. Try a combination of two and apply until the itch disappears. Continue application for 2 weeks after the itch disappears.

I am just curious if there is anyone out there doing IP chemo. I am currently doing Topotecan with Cisplatin and they recently added Avastin. The cycle is every 4 weeks and the Topo is delivery over 3 consecutive days which is challenging. My CA125 has responded positively since the cisplatin was added. I was just wondering if anyone is doing IP treatmnets with other combinations.
I had 6 IV of Taxatere 6 IP of Cisplatin and 3 IP of Taxol for good luck ha ha I am 16 months post chemo but I will tell you the joint and muscle pain is there. I am an active 55 year young just finished the Danskin triatholon yesterday but I wasn't breaking any records. So yes it is harder on you and is not a guarantee. But that is what I needed and I got it.

I was diagnosed with STage 3c ovca in August, had optimal debulking and IP port put in. We started chemo in Sept Taxol/carbo and I leaked out the vagina the first chemo. A cuff repair was done and we tried on cycle 2 with another leak. The surgeon did laparacopy and replaced the tube which was sitting on the cuff and put it around the belly button. I was pleased because I had extensive surgery including Sigmoid colon resection and a small piece of small bowel removed.
It was decided that this was an ideal time to do a Lap procedure at NYU and have an IP port put in. This will be followed by IP topotecan the following week, three days in a row every 3-4 weeks. My doctor feels this will be the most effective way to proceed. Has anyone out there had this procedure and subsequent treatment? I would like to know what I am in store for now!

He considers that her actual treatment has begun after surgery which is why he is pushing for 3 more treatments to make it a total of 6 after surgery? For now he is inclined towards 3 IP treatments by giving Day 1 IP Cisplatin and Day 8 IP Taxol since she has already had 6 treatments with IV taxol he does not want to give this on Day 1. Would you agree with treatment plan?
m just curious how many ladies are out there that have completed the IP regimen. I did great with the IV....my surgey went really well...but my first IP was awful and knocked me out that entire week. i still feel bloated and am so anxious to start again tomorrow. i guess the good news is that i tolerated it enough to continue. For those of you who went through it.....did you do ok? i'm hoping that this more aggressive treatment will put me into remission for a very long time....
s always been my understanding that IP therapy had good outcomes but were unavailable to pts who had a colostomy (which was part of my original extensive procedure).

My IP port was uncomfortable as well. I wouldn't say it was painful but it didn't feel comfortable either. I found that it was more uncomfortable when I was in certain positions. They do shift so that could be the problem.
I think it's tough to say if prolonging the IP chemo will alter her prognosis.
I will begin my 4th round of chemo tomorrow. I receive IV Taxol on day 1, IP Cisplatin on day 2 and IP Taxol on day 8. I handle bothTaxol treatments really well. I receive premeds of steroids, Zophran, Benadryl, Tagament and Ativan. I am very lucky because the following day after getting both Taxol treatments I do not need to take any nausea meds. I get admitted to the hospital for my IP Cisplatin for over night infusion of fluids.
I have been put on metformin hydrochloride 500 twice a day to decrease sugar levels. hernia op delayed because of this. diabetic type 2 and had always controlled by diet but sugar count creeping in the mornings so told dr who issued prescription. have been on just over 2 weeks yet morning tests show very little decrease 7.2 to 8.00. Told to wait 6 weeks for reconsideration on op.
I know when they do blood test some sort of average is established so just morning count not all that is relevant.

My mom had extensive surgery due to which they had to reconstruct her abdomen with a mesh. We are now discussing a possibility of IP consolidation for her. Anyone out here has any experience with IP chemo following abdomen reconstruction using a mesh.
entering my 9th year after a stage 4 OC diagnosis. After experiencing just about every drug out there including during the last 9 months - IP treatments of Topotean + Avastin & Cisplatin. The IP treatments have reduced my CA125 from over 5,000 to 1,600 and its been stable at that level. My doctor at NYU now feels IP Floxuridine is where we go next - 3 days straight every 3 - 4 weeks. Has anybody out there had this treatment and can provide some details.
The first treatment was started 3 days after surgery with a carboplatin treatment, and 5 Armstrong 21-day treatments (day1 taxol iv, day2 cisplatin ip, day8 taxol ip....) were scheduled to start 3 1/2 weeks later, which they did. During the 5 Armstrong treatments there have been two delays. After the first cisplatin IP Lori became dehydrated and was admitted to the hospital on what would have been the taxol IP (day8) day....instead the taxol ip day8 was done on day 11.
For burning throat, gargle with salt water immediately and keep doing it.
Take Montelukast+levocetirizine for 10 days one daily(0-0-1) preferably night.
take multivitamins and gargle with Tantum before food, betadine(1:5) and hydrogen peroxide(1:10) after food for three days. Take dichlo for pain relieving for 2 days(1-0-1).
If symptoms persist, rush to the ENT specialist.
