Based upon these findings, I have it ruled down to folliculitis vs. a cyst. The pain mimics that of past underarm folliculitis, however due to the location of the inflammation, drainage or lancing isn't possible for a solo act.
I have doxycycline available, and was going to restart it to see if this lump disappears (along with witch hazel for anal-rectal cleaning). Any help would be appreciated!
The sensation got worse and I went to an urgent care center and was given bactrim and told I had a uti. This was despite a negative urine culture, so obviously the bactrim did nothing. I then went to a urologist who took a urine sample and again it was negative. He gave me a DRE to check my prostate and said “it’s not too bad.” I’m not sure what that meant but he said I had prostatitis and gave me a 10 day cycle of cipro. The cipro took away all the symptoms in about 4 days.
She examines me says prostate is inflamed, bactrim is weak prescribes Levaquin for 30d. 5 days on the Levaquin the penis tip burning went away but testicle pain remained. I finished the levaquin and went back to PCP she examined again and said prostate still inflamed and sent me to a Uro.
Visit with URO was routine, said that he had no doubt that I had prostatitis and that the penis tip burning was a sure sign, he did exam said inflamed. Put me on flomax, no acidic foods or drinks for 30 days.
I was recently on the antibiotic Bactrim and learned that I am allergic to sulfa. I am broken out in a very red rash on (not hives) my body. I am no longer taking Bactrim. I stopped immediately and am now taking Levaquin.
This is my second day with this rash and it is much worse than yesterday. Do rashes generally get worse before they get better? Also, how long, on average, can I expect to havr this rash?
I am taking Benedryl to help wth itchiness but it does not seem to be that helpful.
Two Urologists have checked my prostate and say that is in fact normal. How would I request a "full panel STD test from my Dr.?" Also, I was on Bactrim and Levaquin now for a combination of 24 days in a row. I just came off of the Bactrim this past Sunday. Will the STD test results give me a false negative, because I've been on all of this medication over the past few months????

Took it for an upper respitory infection for 3 days and had terrible problems. The Dr then gave me Levaquin, took for 7 days, with the same side effects. Just this past winter, I had a UTI that wouldn't go away and was treated with Biaxin and another abx (I can't remember which one, I have to look...maybe Ceftin) and had a bad reaction to both of them. I went to the health food store and took a D-Mannose cranberry supplement instead of abx to get rid of the infection.
No change in bowel or bladder except he recently has been on levaquin for second episode of prostatitis (first episode 20 years ago).
Any ideas about what is going on?

t know why he ordered Levaquin vs another ATB. Tinnitus and the being off balance are two different symptoms. One is not causing the other. Have you read the side effects from Levaquin? There are quite alot, and I believe this drug has been "black boxed" in the USA. However, I am not so sure this caused your problems or your problems are unrelated to the Levaquin.
ve had a case of epididymitis since December and was treated with Amoxillin (before/right when the swelling began for an unrelated case), Bactrim, Doxycycline, and Levaquin, the last of which seemed to help the most in reducing pain and inflammation; my urologist now wants to put me on a round of amitriptyline since the inflammation has not totally receded and since there has a decent amount of pain.
However, I did have intensified gut and neuro symptoms as well as anxiety, all of which are attributed to Bartonella. I am still on Levaquin for it even though my anxiety is gone.
For my Bart, I have been through rifampin (gave me stomach pain, which just added to the existing Bart caused stomach pain), Avelox, which gave me an achilles heel cramp, Levaquin, which seemed to work well for me, but also caused achilles heel discomfort, and now I am starting Bactrim. I started Plaquenil last week. I believe the Bactrim/Plaq combo is also good against both Bart and Lyme when they go intracellular.
I have an ear infection needing antibiotics (Levaquin. 500mg). The pharmacist said that these two meds are contraindicated. My cardiologist said to go off of Flecainide for 2 weeks while taking the Levaquin.
The bad news is that I am scared to go off on a med that I have been taking for a long time. The good news is that I will find out if the meds are causing my daily symptoms of nausea, extreme fatigue, sleepiness and I don't need anti arrhythmic agents for A-Fib.
I unfortunately was left with a severe yeast infection of itchy crawlings skin that looks almost always inflamed and a leaky gut. From the levaquin, Bactrim etc. which I’m still dealing with to this day ;( no hope for that as whenever I eat sugar or alcohol my skin will crawl.
As for my bladder now the only problem I have that has not gone away with everything I have tried is that after I go pee once I get up it feels like it’s raw in my urethra and hurts.
May any of this be side effects of lavoquin or his chest congestion, which now im questioning if it is a congestion anymore. How can you decipher chest pain from chest congestion vs.
QUESTIONS Since 1st post
ONE - Cold i had turned to Brochitus, Dr prescribed 750mg Levaquin 10 days. Can Levaquin interfere with RNA test?
TWO - Only symptoms I have are Bronchitus, nasuea that lasts 10 minutes comes & goes around dinner time, shooting nerve pain in abdomen, racing feeling & red face for a few days. No fever, swollen nodes as far as I can tell. Do not remember Levaquin causing me nausea when I have taken it before?
s in UA) given IV augmentin in ER then levaquin for 10 days orally (Jan 13-23) then rechecked urine Feb 5, still had blood and leukocytes again on oral antibiotics, Bactrim DS for 7 days. Now she went to Dr. 3-4 for cough\cold but while we were there she said her "side was hurting" so they did another UA which shown a "large amount of blood". So once again she is on bactrim DS. I called today to sch. an appointment with the uro.
