levaquin uti

I am pretty sure I just have a UTI but if for whatever I have an STD will the Levaquin that I am taking for my UTI cure chlamydia or gonorhea? I am taking 500mg for 6 days. Please help me. This discussion is related to <a href='/posts/show/246898'>Levaquin for Chlamydia/Gonorrhea</a>.

I've been taking 500mg. of Levaquin for 4 days for a uti. Nasty side effects. I wanted to know if I can cut the pills in half. Would taking 250mg. be as effective? All the symptoms of my uti are gone. I was supposed to take the pills for 7 days and I stopped after 4 because of side effects.

All of the side affects are due to the Levaquin. I would have to have a gun pointed to my head before I took levaquin, and even then I might still refuse. Levaquin is a very "punishing" medication. Levaquin has it's mplace in the physicians armamentarium. For example, if I had bubonic plaque, I might consider levaquin. But they have an EXCELLENT drug marketing program. The symptoms will eventually disappear. Don't change your synthroid dose.

Unfortunately I had to start a course of Levaquin for a sinus infection and UTI. I am scheduled to complete the course of Levaquin on Tuesday, February 5. Is it safe to try to get pregnant on Friday, February 8. I have not started any prenatal vitamins, is it foolish to start prenatal vitamins along with the Levaquin or should I have been taking these a few months beforehand?

Had an UTI and hence was put on levaquin. After the 8th day of taking levaquin, i had the problem of not able to swallow food.. Stopped levaquin and UTI went away. Since then, i had a feeling that something is stuck in throat and particularly at nites, i was not able to sleep properly. had mylanta and prilosec and the situation got improved.. doctor recommended aciphex and currently i am on that..

Hi everyone...has anyone ever been on Levaquin (it's in the same class of antibiotics as Cipro)? I was on it for 5 days of my 10 when I started getting some wrist pain and they took me off it. I am now feeling pain here and there, but no idea if it's related. I didn't even know it causes tendon damage! Just wondering if anyone else had those side effects??? If so, did they ever go away?

35 yr old male. with a history of UTI's, approx 2/yr. Symptoms were slight sensitivity in lower abdomen but no burning during urination - I know the feeling so went to the doc very early. Urine test at doc's was negative. Prescribed Levaquin 250mg 1/day for 14 days. On my last incidence, approx. 6 months ago, went to doc with same symptoms, based on physical exam doc confirmed prostatitis (slight enlarged and "squishy"), prescribed antibiotics.

I'm getting a bit scared lately... I have been battling a recent UTI. I used to get them a lot when I was younger but haven't had one in about 2- 3 years. Anyway, took levaquin 500mg for about a week and felt much better then 4 days later it hit again. Did the AZO testing which tested positive for nitrate so went back on Levaquin and after two days of taking it I wasn't getting much relief so I went to my doctor.

has anyone had bad side effects from useing aniniotics such as levaquin? i started haveing severe symptoms a few days after i started takeing them such as sore joints muscle pain dizzyness extreme fatigue an weakness..

I have chronic bladder infections and on long term Macrobid and still get frequent UTIs. I have had 3+ bacteria for the last 2 months despite Cipro and Levaquin. This morning the UTI is back with burning, frequency. They did not do a C&S before Cipro I think because it is always e-coli. What could be wrong with these 2 meds not working?....I am so tired of this pain and burning. I also have had lower back pain and groin pain for the last 2 mos.

I got symptoms that resemble chlamydia or gonorrhea (frequent urination, weird feelin in the tip of my penis) so I took levaquin 750mg tabs once a day for five days. Is that enough levaquin to knock out either of those stds? I'm still gettin the urge to urinate frequently and now I'm wondering could it be some kind of bladder infection? Any help is appreciated greatly.

About 2 hrs after i took Levaquin i was rushed to the ER with my whole left arm hurting and so weak through my whole body specially my arm, along with my blood pressure at 149/100. and my pulse at 119. I thought i was going to pass out, I was so nervous i was shaking all over. I had tests for heart attack stroke and brain scan which all came back normal so i know that it had to be the Levaquin which this was the first time i ever took it. My father in law was going 180 miles per hour to ER.

After cysto last year my symptoms were totally gone and was hoping to have the same effect after this cysto this year but not successful. Last year had my first UTI but this year no UTI but presented with same symptoms i.e. burning upon urination, and had sensation around the urethra. I have made changes to my diet which I believe is helpful. STD tests negative, urine cultures negative. No visual injury to the urethra.

hi,im havin a bad dayyy today due to a bad night, i went ot er cause i knew i had a uti,urinary trat infection,well after they finally would give me something,they gave me levaquin,pheneragan and morpheine,my head feels like its gonna explodoe ,has anyone here took levaquin and morpheine ,did it do you this way thanks

Took it for an upper respitory infection for 3 days and had terrible problems. The Dr then gave me Levaquin, took for 7 days, with the same side effects. Just this past winter, I had a UTI that wouldn't go away and was treated with Biaxin and another abx (I can't remember which one, I have to look...maybe Ceftin) and had a bad reaction to both of them. I went to the health food store and took a D-Mannose cranberry supplement instead of abx to get rid of the infection.

Hi. I have been experiencing some really disturbing set of symptoms. I was a healthy and happy 22 year old and now feel almost crippled. I have peripheral neurpathy, horrible anxiety, deppression, nausea, weight loss. I took Levaquin for a UTI infection in November 2009 and didn't have symptoms then. I also had a susequent yeast infection. Do anybody have any idea what could be causing thIs? Thank you and God Bless.

Since i got a test that looked for a UTI, If i had trich, would they have noticed it? or looked for it? Since a uti is looking for an infection, would it come up? the test result came back as "no growth" does that mean there is no bacteria in there at all?

My question is with those meds can I still have some antibiotic resistant STD. I also took the AZO Uti test and all three test were negative for an UTI. My next option is to get a CAT Scan done but it cost a lot of money. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hey MSers and Limbolanders, I just got over a bad UTI that has taken four antibiotics to eradicate!! One of the antibiotics (the 3rd one) was Cipro (which I had actually requested because I had read that it was so good for urinary tract infections). I will say that Cipro was, indeed, effective at zapping my infection.

I went to the ER 5 times and was prescribed 3 different antibiotics and given antibiotics in house for STDs that came back with a negative result. In early November, I had a UTI and was given Cipro for 3 days. That did not help. I went back and they gave me Cipro for 10 days. That did not help. Then they gave me Levaquin for 7 days. I finished all of the antibiotics but I am still experiencing flank pain (upper abdominal, lower pelvic area, and upper and lower back).

Five weeks ago I had a severe case of an UTI. I was put on six antibiotics, but come to find out the type of bacteria I had was resistant to every single medication. Finally I was put on Levaquin. It cleared it up for about six days. Then a few days later the pain came back. The urge to pee, frequency and a burning sensation that lasts all day, but flares up more at night. I feel like I have no control of my bladder lately. Once I get done urinating I have the urge to pee again.

s in one month. Each uti becomes more painful than the last (dysuria, pain in lower abd). I have cultures done on all UA's and all result in lacotbacilli growth only. I have tried a daily dose of macrobid, urination after sex, increase in fluid intake, cranberry tabs, and every thing else that my doctor has told me to do. This last uti my doctor changed my antibx three times before it cleared(1st bactrim DS, 2nd levaquin,3rd keflex). I can't take it anymore what can i do to stop this.
