179856 tn?1333547362 Glad you are feeling better. New and improved meds are not always better for everyone. We can't assume our doctors know or remember every med we are taking and so many meds are toxic to the liver for us that have liver damage. "Patient be ware". Of course when we are ill and out of sorts that last thing we want to do is read the "Cautions" and "Possible Side Effects" on our prescription bags.
Avatar f tn -( My Lyme doc has refused to prescribe either matronidazole or Levaquin as he says they are too heavy on the liver and have to many potential side effects. Yet I keep reading they are great for treating bart as well as lyme. I wonder if I should insist a bit more and keep on at him. What do you think?
Avatar m tn The drug is a class called fluoroquinalones, and the side effects may include anything from aches and pains for months to tendon rupture. If a fluoroquinalone is prescribed Cipro has far fewer side effects.
Avatar f tn has anyone had bad side effects from useing aniniotics such as levaquin? i started haveing severe symptoms a few days after i started takeing them such as sore joints muscle pain dizzyness extreme fatigue an weakness..
483814 tn?1214311480 I am very hush hush about the hep c. When I answered that I did not have any liver problems he gave me 5 days worth of Levaquin. I don't know however if I should take it. He told me that levaquin was not the ideal antibiotic to treat the condition however it was all that we had samples of . My nose hurts really bad and I am considering taking the levaquin.
Avatar n tn Side effects should dissipate after discontinuing/finishing the medication. Did you finish all the tablets? It's very important to take all the pills that are prescribed to you because 1) it will fully get rid of the infection 2) If you dont finish the tablets, the next time you take this med, it will not be as effective .My guess would be that maybe something else is going on that is not in relation to Levaquin or maybe you were allergic to the med??? Call the dr.
Avatar m tn Hi and Welcome t o our Pain Management Forum. Levaquin is an excellant ATB (Antibiotic). However like many medications it comes with some risks and side effects. Form a trusted Web-site: "Levaquin is associated with an increased risk of tendon rupture or swelling of the tendon (tendinitis) in all ages. This risk is higher if you are over 60 years of age, are taking steroids (corticosteroid drugs), or if you have kidney, heart, or lung transplants" .....
Avatar f tn Tinnitus and the being off balance are two different symptoms. One is not causing the other. Have you read the side effects from Levaquin? There are quite alot, and I believe this drug has been "black boxed" in the USA. However, I am not so sure this caused your problems or your problems are unrelated to the Levaquin.
Avatar m tn After discovering greenish discharge in my underwear in the morning, I went to my doctor who prescribed me the usual course of 1 g of Azithromycin and 1 400 mg of Cefixime for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. At first my symptoms lessened but later returned. I waited two weeks before seeing my doctor again who prescribed me the same medication. I did test positive for Chlamydia. Again the symptoms receded but again they returned.

Right now I'm also taking levaquin, and medrol and norvasc, enalapril. Can I still take my ativan for the anxiety. Any anwers will be greatly appreciated thank you.
Avatar n tn I've been taking 500mg. of Levaquin for 4 days for a uti. Nasty side effects. I wanted to know if I can cut the pills in half. Would taking 250mg. be as effective? All the symptoms of my uti are gone. I was supposed to take the pills for 7 days and I stopped after 4 because of side effects.
Avatar n tn Levaquin has some terrible side effects besides tendon rupture. It was my own fault. I read about the side efects but I had a bad infection and insisted on that specific drug. My problems (muscle pain, tenderness, discomfort) lasted six months after I took the medication, but they did go away. Curiosly Cipro, which is of the same class of drugs, doesn't seem to cause any problems.
Avatar m tn Both Cipro and Levaquin are drugs of a class known as quinolones. Of the two Cipro has the least side effects. The sore muscles may last for weeks or months or you may feel better in a few days. With that class of drugs there are ocasional reports of permanent tendon damage. This does not mean they should not be used. It is a matter of risk and benefit.
Avatar n tn J put out a blackbox warning a few years ago. However, I did not know of any side effects. Any comments or suggestions?
Avatar f tn I know all the warnings that more than a certain amount of tylenol can hurt your liver. But is there any info out there about when such effects would take place, after how many years of addiction or how many mgs a day, That kind of thing?
Avatar n tn unless the researchers have discovered something new.I have seen all these side effects in people and warn everyone of the possibility.I just don't see the rationale of blocking GABA during withdrawal, usually one wants to increase GABA in such conditions. But I do learn something new every day and if you find out the use of levaquin blink please let us know cause I am curious.
Avatar m tn I am currently taking the Telepriver protocol with copeg/pegasys interferon/ribavirin etc,,, am in my fourth week and I have some very uncomfortable side effects. 'Roids are a BIG issue,,, traditional treatments are offering minimal relief/results,, anyone had similar complaints? How did you handle it?
