I was on levaquin a couple years ago, it made me very sick to my stomach and gave me some joint pain. I didn't realize until after I took it that it can damage tendons and I read it can also cause hernias. I would never take it again. That's just my opinion, I would also ask for something else.

They switched my ab to Levaquin 250 for 7 days. No change in the infection, still had diarrhea, joint pain and back pain. AB was switched to Levaquin 500 for 10 days and I honestly felt GREAT!! 3 - 4 days all symptoms came back so they put on Levaquin 250 again. I had to give a stool sample and get a colonscopy - which came back negative. The stool sample showed no bacteria so I stopped the Levaquin as tinging came back. I have gone down hill since.

My body feels that it has gotten arthritis because I feel better with heat but I don't know if it is from side effects of medicine or ARS. My wife never took any medication for her Vaginitis. It could a side effect of levaquin, as this can cause swelling and pain in the joints, this is more so if he is prone for joint/tendon problems such as tendonitis and bursitis. It should resolve once the medication is stopped. Discuss these symptoms with your consulting doctor he may change the dose or the medication. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

It depends on where the joint pain is. Joint pain in the area of your ribs, chest or back might be normal if you are coughing a lot. Some medications can cause joint pain as well. Probably best to check in with your primary doc, they may want to check some blood work.

I just wanted to update that the tendon issues and every other weird symptom under the sun is from fluoroquinolone toxicity from Levaquin. I was given IV Levaquin and steroids for my bout with sepsis and this is the result. I still have tendon issues, horrible neuropathy, and met several others with consistently high b12 and other b vitamin levels with FQ toxicity.

Hi all! I am 26 years old, and I have been having some problems with my throat since memorial day weekend. It started then with a bad bout of viral tonsilitis (aka death, lol). I was treated anyway with levaquin because i was exposed to strep, but culture came back neg. I cleared up and everything was fine for a few weeks until I noticed one day that I still had a little swelling and one spot of pus on my left tonsil, but not really any pain.

I did read the side effects to the medicine before hand and was real leery about taking the medication. I Just hope this hasn't ruined me for life. Big problems taking that Levaquin - Tater with your thyroid meds. I too UTI last year and I lasted two days on the med. I quit the antibiotic 2 days into it and stuck to a few natural things to get rid of it. I took 10 days to feel back to normal. That Levaquin is hard stuff man.

after taking Levaquin 500 mg for 2 days I had a sudden onset of stiffness at inner rt thigh. after 1 hr could not put any weight on rt leg. numb spots bilateral calves. I stopped Levaquin and contacted my dr. who changed the antibiotic and told me to take motrin for the inflammation and explained that tendon rupture was rare on Levaquin. This is day 4 I'm walking with a slight limp due to stiffness inner thigh and weight bearing.

Hi. I have been experiencing some really disturbing set of symptoms. I was a healthy and happy 22 year old and now feel almost crippled. I have peripheral neurpathy, horrible anxiety, deppression, nausea, weight loss. I took Levaquin for a UTI infection in November 2009 and didn't have symptoms then.
