Levaquin joint pain

Common Questions and Answers about Levaquin joint pain

levaquin

Avatar m tn Yes, before I became allergic to the stuff I did recall feeling quite a bit of joint pain with that class of medication. I used to take care of patients who were placed on levaquin for infection and noted that they would sometimes get what we nurses called "The Levaquin Shuffle". The affected patients would walk in a shuffle and complain of joint pain especially in the knees. In my case, yes, the pain did go away after a bit.
Avatar m tn I was on levaquin a couple years ago, it made me very sick to my stomach and gave me some joint pain. I didn't realize until after I took it that it can damage tendons and I read it can also cause hernias. I would never take it again. That's just my opinion, I would also ask for something else.
Avatar f tn Lots of muscular, joint pain for nearly 10 months. My ligaments in my feet are so damaged. I have posterior tibial tendonitis. dry eyes, some dry mouth, rinign in left ear. I was a healthy 26 year old when I took the medicine. Actually I was exercising w/ a personal trainer the day I started the medicine. Life has never been the same. Please google Levaquin and you will see there are thousands of others just like you. Most doctors will refuse to even acknowledge the issue.
Avatar n tn I got hit at once diagnosed with both hsv-2 and prostatits. It started 2 months ago. Extreme irriation sensitive tip of penis, and burning. Got tested for stds and came back hsv-2. I then went on acyclovir for 2 weeks, pain still there. Went to urologist, said prostatits. Cipro for 2 weeks still in pain. Then switched to Levaquin for 10 days. While still on the cipro I began to feel mild muscle aches. After 4 days of Levaquin my muscle aches and joint pain increased.
Avatar f tn They switched my ab to Levaquin 250 for 7 days. No change in the infection, still had diarrhea, joint pain and back pain. AB was switched to Levaquin 500 for 10 days and I honestly felt GREAT!! 3 - 4 days all symptoms came back so they put on Levaquin 250 again. I had to give a stool sample and get a colonscopy - which came back negative. The stool sample showed no bacteria so I stopped the Levaquin as tinging came back. I have gone down hill since.
Avatar f tn You need to write a letter and send it certified mail. Pain in the joints and elsewhere are common side effects of Levaquin. Most times this wears off (the good news), but there are instances of long-term damage from this particular antibiotic (that's the bad news). Statistics are on your side.
Avatar f tn ve been on Levaquin twice. Ugh!!! I have severe joint pain and fatigue both times. I have a really high pain tolerance and was allergic to my other options at the time, so I toughed out the 10 days both times. I don't recommend that and my doctor has promised to figure out an alternative for future infections. The first time, the serious fatigue and joint pain lasted about 3 weeks total (including the 10 days). The second time it was about 5 weeks.
Avatar n tn It depends on where the joint pain is. Joint pain in the area of your ribs, chest or back might be normal if you are coughing a lot. Some medications can cause joint pain as well. Probably best to check in with your primary doc, they may want to check some blood work.
Avatar m tn Hello. My story is very different. I had unprotected sex for about 10 sec in Oct of 2008. I only inserted the (head of my penis only) into the vagina and the rest of intercourse was done with condom. (did not really have intercourse) Could not get an erection; therefore, condom was never inserted in vagina, only 10 sec. of penis head only. I have no open sores on the head of my penis. About three days later, I felt pain in groin. Went to hospital and Dr. said I had ureathitis.
Avatar m tn s three people with joint pain. Or maybe the levaquin was in my body fluids and when me and wife have sex the levaquin got in my semen could be affecting her body also. Me and my wife have no fever or flu like symptoms. Need medical advice.
Avatar n tn Unfortunately, the side-effects of Levaquin and other quinolones such as Cipro can last for months or longer. I took Cipro 6 months ago and I'm still experiencing full body tendonitis, joint pain, muscle pain and weakness, tingling and burning sensations, stabbing pains, and more. The insomnia went away after about 6 weeks for me. I am a 36 year old female, and was very active and physically fit. There are some great forums you can check out on Yahoo that will be helpful to you.
1994720 tn?1352742233 Also, since the surgery and a sepsis infection that nearly took my life, I get severe nerve, tendon, and joint pain after eating primarily proteins and am exhausted all the time. I am sick of always being the mystery diagnosis patient! Also, my iron and ferritin levels have been on the low end, though I take Slow FE and cook with an iron skillet. And, my Alpha 2 and Beta globulins are low now. Any feedback???
Avatar n tn Good to see his symptoms improving. It could a side effect of levaquin, as this can cause swelling and pain in the joints, this is more so if he is prone for joint/tendon problems such as tendonitis and bursitis. It should resolve once the medication is stopped. Discuss these symptoms with your consulting doctor he may change the dose or the medication. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I have really bad arm pain, mostly in my right hand for the past eight years. I have been to the doctors several times and been told each time that they don't know what is wrong with me. I am going for a second opinion. The last ortho doctor I saw told me on the phone I had white spots on my bone which were nothing to worry about. During a visit two weeks later we looked at my MRI and they were black spots, to which he told me he didn't know what they were...!
Avatar n tn When did your brain fog go away?
Avatar n tn If i work more than 8 hour or up for 8 hour , my leg starts hurting along with joint pain and nervousness and back pain. forgot I have high blood pressure now. what do i do. help please.
Avatar m tn After a couple of days I started feeling pain in my upper chest, shoulder, down my right arm and right underarm. The pain feels like a needle is jabbing me. Sometimes the pain will go away and somtimes it is very bad and lasts for weeks at a time. I also have some musle pain in these areas. Can you please help me figure out what to do about this.
Avatar n tn Can any "medication cause sudden onset of join pain?? This discussion is related to severe sudden onset of joint pain in all joints.
Avatar f tn One of my many side effects early on was severe lower back pain, flu-like symtoms that included sweats, achiness, joint pain, abdominal pain, rash on legs and a ton of other symptoms.. I only took it for 3 1/2 days, but paid for it for 5 wks after taking it. In my opinion it is a horrible drug. I could barely get out of bed during those 5wks the joint pain was so horrible. A website you could look at is http://briandeer.com/septrin/bactrim-pdr.
Avatar m tn (When the prednisonse was ineffective, he prescribed a non-quinolone antibiotic, the headaches went away a few days after). The prednisonse was a 21 day taper. Towards the end of the 21 days, my joint pain got much worse. The pain in my elbows, forearms, and shoulders intensified. Also, I started getting pain in both legs: in the achilles tendons, knees, and the hamstring tendons (along the back of my knees). At this point, I decided it was time to see an Orthopedist.
2109342 tn?1380908975 Hello, Ricobord The generic for Macrobid is Nutofurantoin Mono. It's a great antibiotic for many symptoms of Lyme. I saw something on TV about the Lyme Bullseye Rash, a few months ago. My rash was still showing, but almost gone. I went to my doctor right away and took a picture, of the same rash with me, that I found online. My doctor didn't care to see my rash, but did look at the picture. He sent me for a lab test right away.
739070 tn?1338603402 I went to PT today to see why my left shoulder arm are aching and causing non-stop pain. I was afraid it was a frozen shoulder , which I was told I am headed for anyway from the weakness in my left arm and the atrophy . The other option I could think of was a rotator cuff tear. Thankfully she ruled both of those out and said I had brachilis tendinitis. Add this to the slowing resolving pneumonia and fatigue and I doing jimmy-dandy.
Avatar n tn I think that I have had a severe drug reaction and do you think the shooting pain is Levaquin related? I took Ibuprofen for the tendon pain for 2 years starting the day after I finished the Levaquin 3 years ago. Did this increase the nerve damage? I have no balance or muscular strength problems.
Avatar f tn I too suffer from Levaquin toxcity ruptured shoulders bicep and now I believe my hip is ruptured I live in pain everyday Nothing they give me completely gets rid of the pain. I am seeing a chiro for Levaquin detox just started so no progress yet this drug should beremoved from the treatment of any matter.
Avatar n tn After two days of treatment, I developed side effects to the Cipro (muscle and joint pain). I was taken off the Cipro and was put on Augmentin (twice a day) for 21 days, which I began taking today. My urologist advised me that if the Augmentin does not work, then there is not a whole lot he can do to improve my condition given that there are no other antibiotics that could be helpful. I just got a PSA done, and I am awaiting the results.
Avatar n tn Next day, acute swollen, difuse lympadenopathy, fever, joint swelling. Continued Cipro for five days. Extreme fatigue followed, tremor, muscle weakness, perheral neuropathies. Fatigu sever, brfeathing difficult: all PFT normal. Elevagted histamine in urine 3x normal amount. Starting antihistamines and H1 and H2 blockers. Possible Mast cell activation disorder? Why woulod immune response continue and I keep feeling worse, aftger Cipro and Diflucan and Nuva ring were discontinued?
Avatar f tn I started having joint pain ( feet, ankles, knees, lower legs, fingers, wrist, forearms) a few days ago. It is really bad. I emailed the surgeon and she said that GM is not generally a systemic issue, so I should check with my primary care provider to address the joint pain. This seems short sided to me. I am awaiting a referral to a rheumatologist, but I don't want to take steroids or any of the other medications.
Avatar n tn My husband was diagnosed with Bacterial Pneumonia and was prescribed Levaquin. He has been off the medication for about a week and a half and he is still experiencing phobic attacks in the morning. He wakes up in a panic and believes that he cannot breath. While he was taking the drug he experienced major confusion, anxiety, depression and dizziness. It was awful! He even experienced a very bad episode when he became abusive...and delusional.
