Levaquin how to take

Common Questions and Answers about Levaquin how to take

levaquin

Avatar m tn Yes, before I became allergic to the stuff I did recall feeling quite a bit of joint pain with that class of medication. I used to take care of patients who were placed on levaquin for infection and noted that they would sometimes get what we nurses called "The Levaquin Shuffle". The affected patients would walk in a shuffle and complain of joint pain especially in the knees. In my case, yes, the pain did go away after a bit.
Avatar n tn All I can tell you is do not take any steroid that is prescribed to you, or it will make it worse. Eat right, take chelated magnesium every day, and watch out for soy. Don't get freaked out by some the horror stories you see online. Those cases are rare. I am much better than I was initially. You will recover in time.
640719 tn?1277140030 I talked to the pharmacist and they said with my resistance to macrodatin (not sure of spelling) cipro and levaquin and allergy to penicillin, ceftin, and now batrium, not sure what they can do for me :o I can take Keflex but I'm reading that is most likely not to effective in treating UTI's. I'm sure fear is not helping my UTI sensations. How big of trouble may I be in concerning this situation? What can they do? Any input would be grateful.
Avatar m tn I was on levaquin a couple years ago, it made me very sick to my stomach and gave me some joint pain. I didn't realize until after I took it that it can damage tendons and I read it can also cause hernias. I would never take it again. That's just my opinion, I would also ask for something else.
Avatar n tn Will Levaquin take care of NGU? I have 750 mg prescription from a doctor for sinus? How long would I have to take it? I also have 500 mg prescription of Clarithromycin as well.
Avatar n tn Unfortunately I had to start a course of Levaquin for a sinus infection and UTI. I am scheduled to complete the course of Levaquin on Tuesday, February 5. Is it safe to try to get pregnant on Friday, February 8. I have not started any prenatal vitamins, is it foolish to start prenatal vitamins along with the Levaquin or should I have been taking these a few months beforehand?
Avatar n tn It MIGHT cure gonorrhea, but its not the recommended treatment. And I don't give doses out to people who haven't tested and are trying to self treat. If you want to do a search yourself, that's fine, but there are limitations to treating yourself. First, if you aren't a trained medical professional, giving yourself an IV is a really bad idea. Also, if you take this, and your symptoms don't go away, you can't get accurate tests results for 2 weeks.
Avatar m tn I figure most people would post these types of stories rather than success stories. What is the truth? How safe should I feel taking this drug? I voiced my concern to my family doctor and he seems to back the drug. I took one pill and feel some slight side effects so far, but nothing extremely serious.
Avatar m tn The Levaquin caused my lupus to flare.I landed in the ER one night. Do not take ibuprofen or steroids the same time you take Levaquin. It makes the side effects much worse. This drug is toxic. If your given it ask for something else, there are many antibiotics. My dr.. has listed this as an allergy. yeah no kidding. Never again will I take this or others in that family-Cipro & avelox.
Avatar m tn It can take a while for you to get back to 100% and there is not much to do to speed this up, besides making sure you get plenty of rest and are eating the correct diet. Some of your symptoms could definitely be due to the antibiotic and when you stop this, your symptoms may improve.
Avatar n tn My experience with Levaquin prescribed for a lung infection was similar. I speak as an individual, but I vowed never again to take Levaquin. Aches, pains, confusion, insomnia. It took six months for the effects to wear off. But they did eventually go away.
Avatar f tn Your body is known to hypersensitive to quinolones to which levaquin belongs to. Tussionex contains hydrocodone which may also be responsible. But it is difficult to tell, which one is the offending drug. The spectrum of these reactions can vary widely; reactions may present as typical allergic symptoms (eg, itching, urticaria, rash, edema) after a single dose, or may manifest as breathlessness due to bronchospasm.
Avatar f tn I felt the difference, too, with Levaquin. I guess the question is do your feet hurt in general, or is the pain specifically in your achilles heel? It is the tendons that are at risk from Levaquin, with achilles and arms being the two most likely places (as my PA and doc have seen in their experience). But they said any tendon pain is a sign to stop. I don't think tingling is from Levaquin. That sounds like a Lyme symptom. Did you try Rifampin?
Avatar n tn I have levaquin for an ear infection and I had two refills. So i just filled. them. Wouldn't it just make sense to take it to its completion?
Avatar f tn d test in a month from treatment to make sure its gone. Many gonorrhea strains are now resistant to a lot of meds, and you want to make sure its gone.
Avatar f tn Two nurse friends of mine are literally screaming at me to not take the Levaquin due to achilles muscle rupture tendencies (one is suffering personally from it at this time and has been for more than one year now). In looking at the drug interaction information, it seems that those who are taking the corticosteriods, are even more at risk for muscle rupture and more at risk for developing pneumonia.
Avatar n tn He has no other neurological symptoms except for a one week history of bilateral great toe numbness that waxes and wanes. He looked at his shoes and none of them seem to have toe boxes that are too narrow. No family history of diabetes. No family history of similar bilateral great toe numbness. No change in bowel or bladder except he recently has been on levaquin for second episode of prostatitis (first episode 20 years ago). Any ideas about what is going on? thanks so much.
Avatar n tn Was there a mistake made in your Rx because why would you need an antibiotic.I would not take it and call the pharmacy to check the Rx again .Unless you have an infection I don't see a need for it.
168348 tn?1379357075 All of the side affects are due to the Levaquin. I would have to have a gun pointed to my head before I took levaquin, and even then I might still refuse. Levaquin is a very "punishing" medication. Levaquin has it's mplace in the physicians armamentarium. For example, if I had bubonic plaque, I might consider levaquin. But they have an EXCELLENT drug marketing program. The symptoms will eventually disappear. Don't change your synthroid dose.
Avatar f tn d really love to read something that goes into a bit of depth on what bartonella can do to your guts, how it damages joints, something up to date on which abx or herbs are best for treating it.... frankly anything would be interesting. Thanks folks.
4451049 tn?1387153437 I eventually figured out it was contributing to my chronic stomach pain. My doc switched me to Levaquin which worked beautifully. I started feeling better within days. About 2-3 months later, I noticed vibrations in my Achilles' tendons, and after a big cramp in one, we stopped the Levaquin. That was over a year ago. I didn't seem to have any residual problems from it. I was grateful the anxiety was gone. Late in the spring of this year, I took Cipro for a UTI.
