Unfortunately I had to start a course of Levaquin for a sinus infection and UTI. I am scheduled to complete the course of Levaquin on Tuesday, February 5. Is it safe to try to get pregnant on Friday, February 8. I have not started any prenatal vitamins, is it foolish to start prenatal vitamins along with the Levaquin or should I have been taking these a few months beforehand?
Why were you on Levaquin? do you have pneumonia, sinusitis, bronchitis?
It should be taken 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals. None of the symptoms you are typical reactions from Levaquin. You should call your doctor. Stopping antibiotics part way through a course is not a good idea unless your doctor tells you to stop. Yes, before I became allergic to the stuff I did recall feeling quite a bit of joint pain with that class of medication. I used to take care of patients who were placed on levaquin for infection and noted that they would sometimes get what we nurses called "The Levaquin Shuffle". The affected patients would walk in a shuffle and complain of joint pain especially in the knees.
In my case, yes, the pain did go away after a bit.
I cannot advise you to take or not take the Levaquin recommended by your physician. I can however, validate your concern about the association of Levaquin with an increased risk of spontaneous rupture of the Achilles tendon, that risk heightened by the co-administration of oral or injected corticosteroids. The risk is not great but it is real.
I am pretty sure I just have a UTI but if for whatever I have an STD will the Levaquin that I am taking for my UTI cure chlamydia or gonorhea? I am taking 500mg for 6 days. Please help me.

I was on Levaquin for pneumonia....I developed such leg pain and ended up in the ER..had to stop it...it really can cause some joint pain...I cannot take it either...

I could see that you have been a bit over dosed with Levaquin 500 mg ,taking 4-6 tabs per day and for three days.For an infection like strep throat its better to start with drugs like Cephalosporins or pencillins and azithromycin or Co trimox.As drug like Levaquin has more fatal side effects I think its better you switch off to other broad spectrum antibiotics like said above.Stop using Levaquin now.Its not that long that you have severe adverse effects,so better change the prescription.
He doesnt smoke cigarettes, only medical marijuana through a vaporizer but he has definitely been under alot of stress. He does not have high blood pressure or cholesterol. I am not a big fan of Levaquin, which has some very serious side effects, however I would also suggest you get an hbcA1c test for diabetes before jumping to conclusions. Alpha lipoic acid supplements are helpful and you might consult your physician about using a medical grade dilute solution of DMSO which is a very powerful anti-oxidant and antiinflammatory. The DMSO treatments are controversial and you might want to review the material on the net before making a decision.
Tinnitus and the being off balance are two different symptoms. One is not causing the other. Have you read the side effects from Levaquin? There are quite alot, and I believe this drug has been "black boxed" in the USA. However, I am not so sure this caused your problems or your problems are unrelated to the Levaquin.
