Levaquin for sinusitis

Common Questions and Answers about Levaquin for sinusitis

levaquin

Avatar n tn Did you find any relief for this case? I have similar symptoms with my sinusitis.
Avatar m tn I took the meds for my sinusitis for 3-4 days and then stopped (exremely silly I know). I felt fine however, a few days later the sinusitis came back with a vengeance. So I started the Levaquin again to finish. This is when all the symptoms started. It seems the sinusitis gave me headaches (harsh), made me feel hot - temperature no more than 99.1 F, and chills. I read the symptoms online and now I'm freaking out. I never had these symptoms before and cannot function. Point blank.
Avatar f tn I had a sleep study done and waiting for results. I have had Levaquin 500 mg for 20 days. Then Levaquin 750 mg for 10 days. I still have fever and sinus headaches. The doctor also started me on Mucinex. I do not think it is doing anything at all. My fever varies from 99.9 to 100.5. I am always tired. I don't feel I am getting any answers and I don't want to feel like this anymore.
Avatar f tn has anyone had bad side effects from useing aniniotics such as levaquin? i started haveing severe symptoms a few days after i started takeing them such as sore joints muscle pain dizzyness extreme fatigue an weakness..
Avatar f tn So now I'm on Levaquin for 3 weeks for a sinus infection. One of the side effects is tendonitis. I already have tendonits (both wrists) and everything has failed including physical therapy and steroid injections, i was referred to surgeon now as nothing has worked, have an appoint in November. Should I take the levaquin if i already have tendonitis? The sinus infection is bad saw ENT friday and put me on levaquin.
Avatar m tn For the acute infections, I take a medrol pack (methylprednisolone), which immediately reduces the inflammation and allows drainage, and an antibiotic such as levaquin, cipro, or whatever is appropriate for the bug (culture is absolutely necessary). DO NOT let the ENT put you on antibiotic for anything less than 2 weeks. You need to be on them for a MONTH at least. Otherwise, you wind up not killing all the bugs, and they come back, more resistant to the antibiotic.
Avatar f tn Seemed like it got better, but about a week or two later after I finished the antibiotics I got sick again and got another (this time over the phone) prescription for more Levaquin. Then I got double sick again WHILE STILL ON the Levaquin. This meant another expensive doctor's appointment, confirmation that my lymph nodes are swollen, and more pus found in my nose. Now I have just finished a round of oral steroids, am on more nasal steroids, and am on Biaxin for 14 days.
Avatar m tn I think as I have gotten older its has gotten worse and might now need that new ballon procedure for the sinus...avelox and levaquin are like poison to me after being on them for so many weeks,,,anxiety,fatigue...insomnia...restlessness stomach upset...elevated heart rate...floroquines are bad...I still feel effects weeks after stopping them...I hope thats all it is...thanks Doctor...
Avatar m tn Yes, I've left a message for my doctor asking for an alternative. I'm waiting for is reply.
Avatar m tn was prescribed levaquin 500mg for 7 days.
Avatar f tn t want to battle with my doctor (who is a huge advocate of levaquin), but it seems that levaquin is not the right direction for me (I am allergic to penicillin), even if I were to develop pneumonia, which, with the corticosteroids, is also an increasing possibility. Do you have any further insight on this for me? Thanks for your help.

Avatar f tn I took Tussionex for the first time at 11:00 pm after I took a Levaquin at 10:00 pm. I have bronchitis. I awoke suddenly from my sleep at 2:00 am and had no breath - and could not speak or call my husband although I was trying to say 'help'. I got my breath back after a minute or so and was pretty shaken up by this. I'm very tired but reluctant to go back to sleep if it happens again. I was pretty shaken up. Is this an allergic reaction or a side effect?
Avatar n tn I had a cold about 6 weeks ago and my doctor thought I hand sinusitis and prescribed me a z-pack. I did not tell him about the unprotected sex at that time. The cough has only seemed to gotten worse over time and they have now prescribed me 500mg levaquin with the same diagnosis. I have no redness, bumps, rash, etc. Is there any chance that these symptoms are related to an oral STD. There was no fluid exchanged so maybe that helps some. Should I have anything to worry about?
720832 tn?1230564372 I am on Simvastatin 40mg twice daily, Metoprolol100mg twice daily, Metformin 500mg daily, Plavix 75mg @ bedtime. They put me on Levaquin 500mg daily for the sinus, and Fioricet for pain. The ones listed first I have been taking it for about a year, and havent had any trouble until the past few weeks. I have had sinus problems my whole life, and I am the time of guy that doesn't want to take the usually steps of cleaning out my nasal passages either.
Avatar f tn I am pretty sure I just have a UTI but if for whatever I have an STD will the Levaquin that I am taking for my UTI cure chlamydia or gonorhea? I am taking 500mg for 6 days. Please help me. This discussion is related to Levaquin for Chlamydia/Gonorrhea.
Avatar f tn I need help please. My doctors had me on Levaquin for 4 years straight. I believe it's destroyed most of my immune system. Since being off Levaquin for the past few months, I have had chronic bronchitis and pneumonia since. My muscles and body is in agony. I now have to use oxygen all the time, day and night. The recovery times from surgeries are greatly extended now. I'm having another back surgery in a few weeks.
Avatar m tn I had levaquin for three separate infections at the same time -- had no problems other than complete and utter exhaustion -- hope you all feel better Jeanne
Avatar m tn I was on Levaquin for 10 days for a sinus infection. Have severe joint pain in both knees and shoulders. Hurts to walk, and cannot move my arms above my head. Stopped taking Levaquin on Monday and is now Wednesay and pain is still unbelievable. Does anyone know how long the pain will last and is there any way to get the pain to go away sooner? My doctor said I should feel better in a couple of days.
Avatar m tn Usually seven days is required to see clinical benefit in severe sinusitis infection. If it stays worse for more than a week then further evaluation is required. Ideally, endoscopically-guided culture could be performed to determine the effective antibiotic and should be started without delay. As an empirical therapy, its better to start with augmentin, this is already been done in your case. Otherwise levofloxacin can be effective alternative.
Avatar n tn Not sure that Dr Handsfield will answer but will try anyway as related to this thread. This thread says that levaquin is active against both chlamydia and gonorrhea. But the original post is from 2005. It's five years later and I'm wondering if your advice has changed. I understand that gono has grown resistant to this type of antibiotic treatment but was really wondering if levaquin will have any effect on gonorrhea. Now...in 2010.
Avatar n tn I was wondering where the best place for me would be to find a complete list of medicines I should stay away from with Long QT syndrome. I have a list but it is over 5 years old, and I am in need of a new one! Thank You!
Avatar f tn I had a low-grade fever and was tested for flu even though I had had a shot; negative. I was given a prescription for Levaquin and told only to fill it if I didn't get any better. Well, I didn't. I continued to feel weak and tired, to have a tight chest (had an X-ray, but no report yet), and to have a persistent dry cough. I didn't know what to do. How do I decide whether or not to take the stronger antibiotic?
Avatar m tn Do not take Levaquin for a sore throat. The drug is a class called fluoroquinalones, and the side effects may include anything from aches and pains for months to tendon rupture. If a fluoroquinalone is prescribed Cipro has far fewer side effects.
Avatar m tn Levaquin made me very ill. I have lupus & was given Levaquin for a sinus infection. Big no no. Levaquin can & will give you autoimmune disease symptoms and I already had one. Trust me it is not worth it. After 6 pills my calf muscles began to cramp. Dr. says ibuprofen 600mg a day.. Well its been all downhill from there. I developed full body tendinitis,(couldn't walk) my joints & muscles swelled so bad my nerves were compressed.
