I took Levaquin unfortunately last week to treat a bacterial infection. The infection is gone but now my legs are tingling all the time and are in pain as well. I am wondering how long these side effects last and if there is any way to make them go away sooner. I am also having trouble sleeping now. I wish I knew this before taking this!!!

Let me begin by saying that I have a kidney condition known as FSGS. My kidney function has basically normal (stage 1-kidney disease). I check my urine at home with Chem Strips to check for protein. About a month ago I noticed nitrates were testing positive on the strips (Only +first morning urine), I had no symptoms of a UTI and I did nothing.
t even believe it was a kidney infection. So, to treat this infection, they put me on levaquin. Mind you that levaquin should not be used by a young adult, such as myself. I was put on a heavy dosage for a little over a month and suddenly began getting odd symptoms such as a knee swelling to to the size of a melon.
Crap I just had a long post and lost the whole thing .Levaquin was a life saver for me and really severe kidney and bladder infections .
Now I have no clue why they would put you on it unless he thought you had some infection .I will see if I can find any WD uses for it but I don't know of any right off .
I would call the doc in the morning and ask what part of wds is it supposed to help with or like pharma said was it a mistake of some kind ?? Let us know what you find out.
I went back and they gave me Cipro for 10 days. That did not help. Then they gave me Levaquin for 7 days. I finished all of the antibiotics but I am still experiencing flank pain (upper abdominal, lower pelvic area, and upper and lower back). I also still have White Blood Cells in my urine. Even though I took all of these meds, can it be that I still have a UTI , kidney infection or kidney disease?
Today I went to my Urologist again and he told that I have an infection. I have also started feeling imcomplete urniation. He has prescribed LEVAQUIN 500 for 14days (1 per day).
Could you please help me to understand for what kind of infection LEVAQUIN is prescribed and how it is different from Cipro? How long will this antibiotic take to reduce the symptoms?
Just wondering if anyone knows if a bladder infection can cause your CA125 to elevate. My gyno did blood work on me when I went to see him for the infection and I'm wondering what kind of number I'm going to see. He also put me on Levaquin which was worse then the infection itself. My oncologist is out of town right now which is why I had to see the gynocologist.
She had a severe allergic reaction to levaquin back in september, but recent rash did not begin until feb. She was taking macrobid for kidney infection in jan. but rash did not begin until feb. she has seen primary care, infectious disease control and allergy doctos and none of them can tell her what it is or what causes it. Biopsy says bacterial fungus, but steroids and antibiotics not helping.
I am now on Levaquin 500 mg for 10 days. He sent the urine sample off to the lab for a Cytoplasm test ($220 later), it too was negative. Also has an Ultra sound of my abdomen nothing at all found. The doctors recommendation is a cystoscopy if the antibiotics don't clear whatever this is up. On day 8 now of the levaquin and still having the same symptoms above.
What could this be? Anymore information or knowledge, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
I was on Levaquin for 10 days for a sinus infection. Have severe joint pain in both knees and shoulders. Hurts to walk, and cannot move my arms above my head. Stopped taking Levaquin on Monday and is now Wednesay and pain is still unbelievable. Does anyone know how long the pain will last and is there any way to get the pain to go away sooner? My doctor said I should feel better in a couple of days.
I am being treated for the infection. At the same time as the appendicitis I went to the emergency room for kidney stones. I had lithotripsy done for that 1 week ago to remove the stone. Over the past year I have experienced the following symptoms... I have been to many different docs and the emergency room and don't know what to do. All of these symptoms may not be relevant, but I thought more information the better.
I've been taking Tylenot PMs for about 8 years. I had blood test taken and the results back that my emzymes are very high. My Dr.recommending me to a Liver Specialist. Also from the results from my blood test showed I had a kidney infection, I've been on Levaquin for about eight days now. I hope by me going to Specialist I will get answers. Five months ago I had taken Levaquin. The doctor gave it to me for bronchitis. After a couple of days I started feeling pain in my upper chest, shoulder, down my right arm and right underarm. The pain feels like a needle is jabbing me. Sometimes the pain will go away and somtimes it is very bad and lasts for weeks at a time. I also have some musle pain in these areas. Can you please help me figure out what to do about this.
One of my many side effects early on was severe lower back pain, flu-like symtoms that included sweats, achiness, joint pain, abdominal pain, rash on legs and a ton of other symptoms.. I only took it for 3 1/2 days, but paid for it for 5 wks after taking it. In my opinion it is a horrible drug. I could barely get out of bed during those 5wks the joint pain was so horrible. Endodonist said there was pus -- infection. I have had allergic reaction to Levaquin and AzitheraI and have had side effects diarrhea and lightheaded from Cefdinir and Cephalexin so he prescribed Cipro 500mg. Said he doesn't usually prescribe but given that it have taken Cipro 250mg in the past (or urinary tract infection with no side effects. Is Cipro as effective as other antibiotics for dental infection?
My doctor did an uranalysis and said that there were white blood cells and some bacteria in my urine so she put me on levaquin for 5 days. It seemed to get a lot better the first three days, but then stopped working and it just started to get worse again. Hi all, I'm need to know if this has ever happened to anyone else. A few months ago I started to have pain in my left kidney. It came out of no where. I researched online and was 100% sure I had a kidney infection. I was tight on money so I got Cipro from a friend. On day five of the antibiotic I still felt ill. I went to the ER for same day tests. They said my urine was "contaminated" since I was already on antibiotics. They said to keep taking it and maybe slept wrong.
I took Tussionex for the first time at 11:00 pm after I took a Levaquin at 10:00 pm. I have bronchitis. I awoke suddenly from my sleep at 2:00 am and had no breath - and could not speak or call my husband although I was trying to say 'help'. I got my breath back after a minute or so and was pretty shaken up by this. I'm very tired but reluctant to go back to sleep if it happens again. I was pretty shaken up. Levaquin made me very ill. I have lupus & was given Levaquin for a sinus infection. Big no no. Levaquin can & will give you autoimmune disease symptoms and I already had one. Trust me it is not worth it. After 6 pills my calf muscles began to cramp. Dr. says ibuprofen 600mg a day.. Well its been all downhill from there. I developed full body tendinitis,(couldn't walk) my joints & muscles swelled so bad my nerves were compressed.
