Levaquin for chronic sinusitis

Common Questions and Answers about Levaquin for chronic sinusitis

levaquin

Avatar f tn I had a sleep study done and waiting for results. I have had Levaquin 500 mg for 20 days. Then Levaquin 750 mg for 10 days. I still have fever and sinus headaches. The doctor also started me on Mucinex. I do not think it is doing anything at all. My fever varies from 99.9 to 100.5. I am always tired. I don't feel I am getting any answers and I don't want to feel like this anymore.
Avatar m tn For the 12 months in between UTI 1 and 2, I have consistently experienced recurrent fatigue, quick exhaustion after exertion, malaise, blotchy skin, chronic sinusitis (persistent burning in nose and nasal mucous always streaked with blood) skin pain (hypersensitivity), back pain in the lumbar region (arthritis in lumbar region diagnosed by MRI), pain on either side of my spine, sore groin and armpits, muscle twitches, muscles easily cramped and fatigued.
Avatar n tn Did you find any relief for this case? I have similar symptoms with my sinusitis.
Avatar f tn Seemed like it got better, but about a week or two later after I finished the antibiotics I got sick again and got another (this time over the phone) prescription for more Levaquin. Then I got double sick again WHILE STILL ON the Levaquin. This meant another expensive doctor's appointment, confirmation that my lymph nodes are swollen, and more pus found in my nose. Now I have just finished a round of oral steroids, am on more nasal steroids, and am on Biaxin for 14 days.
Avatar m tn Hi, welcome to the forum, your symptoms are suggestive of chronic sinusitis. Sinusitis is caused by too much mucus, or a swelling of the lining of the sinuses and nose, which can block the narrow channels. The causes of these are bacterial infection like streptococcal, staphylococcal, Tuberculosis, Bronchiectasis and Fungal infections. This can be associated with postnasal drip and throat clearing. This can in turn irritate the throat lining.
Avatar m tn I took the meds for my sinusitis for 3-4 days and then stopped (exremely silly I know). I felt fine however, a few days later the sinusitis came back with a vengeance. So I started the Levaquin again to finish. This is when all the symptoms started. It seems the sinusitis gave me headaches (harsh), made me feel hot - temperature no more than 99.1 F, and chills. I read the symptoms online and now I'm freaking out. I never had these symptoms before and cannot function. Point blank.
Avatar f tn I had a low-grade fever and was tested for flu even though I had had a shot; negative. I was given a prescription for Levaquin and told only to fill it if I didn't get any better. Well, I didn't. I continued to feel weak and tired, to have a tight chest (had an X-ray, but no report yet), and to have a persistent dry cough. I didn't know what to do. How do I decide whether or not to take the stronger antibiotic?
Avatar m tn Because I just tried it, and it burns so bad! I have chronic sinusitis for two years with a lot of polyps. No medication helps, except corticosteroids but infection gets back immediately after stopping using them.
Avatar f tn s destroyed most of my immune system. Since being off Levaquin for the past few months, I have had chronic bronchitis and pneumonia since. My muscles and body is in agony. I now have to use oxygen all the time, day and night. The recovery times from surgeries are greatly extended now. I'm having another back surgery in a few weeks.
Avatar m tn I was recently diagnosed with Chronic Sinusitis and I had a few questions that I didn't think about until I left the dr office. 1. Is it really "chronic", like a chronic disease? 2. Does it go away or is it constant? 3. Is it seasonal? I'm going on my 3rd round of antibiotics and 2nd round of steroids. What happens next if these meds don't work?
Avatar f tn I have been struggling with chronic sinusitis for years. I think this infection is bacterial, as I've had it for months. I'm starting to get vertigo occasionally, when I get up in the morning. I'll be going to my doctor in the next few weeks (for a routine checkup) and thought I'd get her input. She has prescribed antibiotics in the past. The problem is that every type I take causes me severe gastic problems (stomach ache, esophageal spasms, etc.
Avatar f tn has anyone had bad side effects from useing aniniotics such as levaquin? i started haveing severe symptoms a few days after i started takeing them such as sore joints muscle pain dizzyness extreme fatigue an weakness..
Avatar f tn So now I'm on Levaquin for 3 weeks for a sinus infection. One of the side effects is tendonitis. I already have tendonits (both wrists) and everything has failed including physical therapy and steroid injections, i was referred to surgeon now as nothing has worked, have an appoint in November. Should I take the levaquin if i already have tendonitis? The sinus infection is bad saw ENT friday and put me on levaquin.
Avatar n tn hello I was just diagnosed with chronic sinusitis thru a CT scan. The only symptom that is driving me crazy is constant thick white mucus in my throat or chest ? it is impairing my breathing and making me wheeze. I have been to the pulmonologist and had lung function test and those numbers were good . I look up sinusitis symptoms, but rarely do I find anyone who has issue with mucus and breathing unless its thru their nose . The Dr thinks I may have chronic sinusitis from a deviated septum ..
Avatar f tn Hello, What you are having can be due to sinus congestion especially chronic sinusitis. It can be due to allergic nasal polyps or tumors, allergic reactions, deviated nasal septum, trauma to the face, respiratory tract infections, allergies such as hay fever, immune system cells or cystic fibrosis. It is important to find out the cause of chronic sinusitis as then specific treatment can be started. Treatment varies from saline and steroid nasal sprays to decongestants and antibiotics.
Avatar m tn I have suffered from chronic sinusitis for years. My ENT said I have under developed sinuses that are about the width of a pencil. I suffered a really bad sinus infection back in 2007, I couldn't breathe or swallow right. My sinuses felt like cement. I didn't want to take any of the steroid nasal sprays because they can dry your nose & I take bad nose bleeds. I went to a health food store nearby & the person who owned it said she too had chronic sinusitis.
Avatar f tn ” With “never drainage/congestion/fever” and “never gets congestion, sneezing, post-nasal drip, etc” and a borderline normal CT scan, the evidence for chronic sinusitis is scant. The American Academy of Otolaryngology (ENT) classifies sinus symptoms as follows: Major: Facial pressure, congestion, nasal obstruction, a runny nose and a reduced sense of smell. And, Minor: Headache, fever, halitosis, fatigue, dental pain, cough and ear pain.
