483814 tn?1214311480 18 years of age). Levofloxacin is contraindicated in persons with known hypersensitivity to levofloxacin or other quinolone antibacterials. Serious and occasionally fatal events, such as hypersensitivity and/or anaphylactic reactions and some of unknown etiology, have been reported in patients receiving therapy with quinolones, including levofloxacin.
Avatar m tn I believed I had epididmytitis earlier. I took levaquin. Later, I wondered if there could be any chance of contracting HIV. Anyhow, I know that the only way is to get tested, but while waiting for a good time to get tested, as it's still a bit early to get an accurate result, I'd like to ask the question in the title. I know that levaquin is for killing bacteria and that HIV is a virus. Yet, can levaquin indirectly prevent ars symptoms from showing up?
Avatar m tn If Levofloxacin caused peripherial neuropathy will Cipro also if I take that as an alternate?
Avatar m tn Sorry, I took 2 500mg pills of levaquin. I was told that actually one 500mg levaquin pill does the trick. So, in taking two, do you think I need further treatment (assuming a positive test result)?
Avatar m tn After earlier courses of Amoxicillin, then Zithromax, upon determining Pneumonia I have been prescribed Levaquin, a much stronger antibiotic; But the Levaquin costs $ 264, which I can not afford. Is there a comparable antibiotic I can take that is more reasonably priced?
Avatar m tn Levaquin-Levofloxacin,though it is an antibiotic, has some common adverse effects on CNS as it passes the blood brain barrier.Headache, dizziness, and restlessness are among the commonest effects on the CNS. Others include tremor, drowsiness, insomnia, nightmares, and visual and other sensory disturbances ,tinnitus, Mal de Debarquement Syndrome etc. Generally these reactions subside when the drug is completely metabolized and eliminated from the body. There is nothing much to be worried.
Avatar n tn Several days later, I started Levaquin to combat the sinus infection that seemed to be hanging on. I had taken it last year without problems. A few days into levaquin, my left foot began to burn. Then a day or so later, both feet felt like they were burning and so did my left arm. An enhanced MRI of my brain, an MRA and a dry MRI or my cspine failed to reveal any abnormalities. An exam with a neurologist was essentially normal.
Avatar n tn Is 500 mg of Levofloxacin every 48 hours suppose to make a 70 year old diabetic dialysis patient drowsy, fatigued, emotionally disturbed, and delirious? Is it okay to stop the continuing dosage after seeing the affects of the first dose?
Avatar n tn However, levofloxacin (Levaquin) would work against all chlamydia, most gonorrhea, and most of the nonsexually transmitted germs that cause epididymitis. Since this probably isn't an STD problem, this is about as far as this thread can go. You should ask the same questions very directly to your urologist. I hope this helps.
Avatar f tn I was on levofloxacin (Levaquin) for my Bart, and I had to stop after six weeks when I developed pain in my left achilles heel. I was disappointed as my anxiety pretty much disappeared on it. Levaquin is known to cause tendon rupture, especially in the achilles tendons, even weeks or months after a person stops taking the drug.
Avatar m tn m on the medication, azithromycin dosage is over and 2 tablets left for levofloxacin, and my eye redness has reduced a bit and the burning during urination reduced a bit too but not completely gone. What i want to know is:- 1.Will this antibiotic course be enough to cure my conjunctivitis? 2.Should I be taking antibiotic eye drops as well? 3.should i go see an ophthalmologist? 4.My vision gets a bit blurred at times, but washing with water or blinking a few times fixes it.
Avatar m tn He said that he was concerned about prostatitis, and he gave me a script for Levaquin (750mg for 3 days, then 500mg for the next 7 days). At my insistence he also did a BiostatHSV-2 test, which was negative. The question is whether I continue with this course. Levaquin scares me to death, and I am definitely feeling mentally spacey after just the first pill. I realize that there could be other causes of urethritis, like adenovirus. So I kind of feel like the Levaquin is premature.
Avatar n tn Have you been diagnosed with syphilis through a blood test?
Avatar n tn i was then sent to a urologist and everything came back normal beside a large hydrocele. i was prescribed levaquin for 14 days, that seemed to work. now the second part of the question. 2.) i'm not sure of the cause but was diagnosed with NGU - chlamydia and gonnoreah were negative. i felt like these symptoms came on after about 3 days after an encounter with a woman without a condom, i was treated with doxy and cipro.
Avatar f tn An alternative is levofloxacin, but ILADS is no longer recommending that because the side effects are dangerous and it is less effective (bart goes inside your body cells and levofloxacin only works outside them). Is your doctor an ILADS member, or just a doc how tells you he knows about Lyme? There's a big difference. There are herbs that work on bart but if your infection is bad, they won't help a lot (I say that since i am no herbs for bart and they are not doing much).
Avatar m tn I got a 10 day treatment of Levaquin from my allergist. I have taken 3 pills. It has helped a little, but not alot. They told me to make an appointment if I did not feel better by Wednesday. Should I be feeling better by now? I do not work anywhere near my allergist so taking time off of work is a problem. I have 2 more days of pills to take. I still feel pressure in my jaw(I need tylenol for this). Sudafed helps some with stuffiness. My nasal drip is a bit better but still going on.
Avatar m tn I live in Japan, so yes, this dosage is 100% correct. I read somewhere that people thought this dosage is not possible). I've been checking all day and it really seemed to have disappeared, but the testicle is still weak and sensitive, so maybe it's possible that 1.3 days of levofloxacin treatment could have cured the lump part, although the testicle is still in a weak stage.
Avatar f tn My prior medical history is gastroparesis (of unknown etiology) and was just recently treated for a sinus infection with Levaquin 750 mg for 5 days. I was also very nauseous and dizzy today for several hours. Had a vague pain behind my eyes. Any thoughts?
Avatar n tn In July I was given Levaquin 750 mg, the following day I was in so much pain. I have HVC and MS. I also had my neighbor look at my blood work done prior to this "follow up" visit this doc. If he had read the test he would have known there was no respiratory trouble. First it appeared that this drug hit my throat, sore lymph nodes, my legs were so weak, and then a very sharp pain hit my right side under the breast plate.
Avatar n tn s not usually prescribed for this treatment but in your case it might make sense. There are also more common fluoroquinolones like Levofloxacin (Levaquin brand name), which might work but are not quite as active against chlamydia. But as Brianbear said, we'd have to know what you're allergic to in order to really say what you might be able to take. Good luck with everything.
Avatar n tn While it used to be thought that much prostatitis was caused by STDs, that now appears to be only a minor contributor. Levofloxacin (Levaquin) is a good starting point for treatment. Sometimes, it takes several weeks of therapy to resolve. It sounds as though you are doing everything right. Congratulations. Continue to work with your urologist.
