Have you started tapering down your dosage per your doctor's instructions? Just make sure you are not adjusting dosage or quitting it without talking to your doctor first; just ensure you follow his/her instructions. My prior medical history is gastroparesis (of unknown etiology) and was just recently treated for a sinus infection with Levaquin 750 mg for 5 days. I was also very nauseous and dizzy today for several hours. Had a vague pain behind my eyes. Any thoughts?
Both Cipro and Levaquin are drugs of a class known as quinolones. Of the two Cipro has the least side effects. The sore muscles may last for weeks or months or you may feel better in a few days. With that class of drugs there are ocasional reports of permanent tendon damage. This does not mean they should not be used. It is a matter of risk and benefit.
I went to the doctor who suggested it could be a bacterial infection, and prescribed me Levaquin. I got tested for every potential STD: HIV, Hep A/B, Syphilis, etc. Now, let's say that the doctor calls me before the weekend and says that I did indeed have a bacterial infection that the Levaquin treated and all other tests came back negative (this is a hypothetical situation obviously). I started taking it today (Monday); by the time Saturday rolls around, I will have taken my 6/7 dose.
He put me on a month of Levaquin. I went back after 2 days and had a very bad bladder infection. Went back after 2 weeks and the dr said the bladder infection was gone, but I had to keep on with the Levaquin as I was showing signs of pneumonia and he took another blood test. On the 3rd week of Levaquin, the dr called and said I was highly allergic to Levaquin and get to his office immediately. He gave me a new antibiotic shot and within an hour I was very ill.
He probably will increase your dosage but never do this on your own, follow his instructions. They normally will start you out on a low dosage, see if it helps, and if not they either increase it or switch medications. Always work closely with your doctor on your medications. Take care.
Tylenol is unveiling new maximum dosage instructions for paracetamol or acetaminophen in the US. The new instructions state a maximum total daily of 3,000 mg versus the old maximum of 4,000 mg. Additionally, it states to take the over the counter dosage every 6 hours instead of every 4 to 6 hours. I need help please. My doctors had me on Levaquin for 4 years straight. I believe it's destroyed most of my immune system. Since being off Levaquin for the past few months, I have had chronic bronchitis and pneumonia since. My muscles and body is in agony. I now have to use oxygen all the time, day and night. The recovery times from surgeries are greatly extended now. I'm having another back surgery in a few weeks.
I am pretty sure I just have a UTI but if for whatever I have an STD will the Levaquin that I am taking for my UTI cure chlamydia or gonorhea? I am taking 500mg for 6 days. Please help me.

Hi everyone...has anyone ever been on Levaquin (it's in the same class of antibiotics as Cipro)? I was on it for 5 days of my 10 when I started getting some wrist pain and they took me off it. I didn't even know it causes tendon damage.
Just wondering if anyone else had those side effects???
I think my mom was on it (IV) but didn't have any side effects. All I can say is if they want to put you on it, ask for something else unless there is no choice! Thanks!

my mother (77yrs.of age) has been taking 10mg lexapro for general depression and body aches. Today, the physician said he wanted to give her something that would make her feel more "perky" and changed her script to 150mg Effexor. The instructions are to take 1 pill/day and to stop the lexapro. From my reading it seems that these meds should be weaned.
about them, and he said it was erythema nodosum as a result of an allergic reaction to Levaquin. However, since then I've had minor difficulty breathing. I'm an asthmatic, so that's not abnormal, but still... Any help would be appreciated.
What dosage has your doctor prescribed? This question would be better answered by him as he knows your medical history.
It is recommended that you follow the prescription dosage and time your doctor made to avoid any resistance to your present antibiotic. I also strongly advise that you have these sores evaluated by your doctor and to let him drain them properly. Try to avoid popping them yourself. MRSA bacteria enter the body through a cut or other wound. And the pus from infected sores may contain MRSA.
It is important that you wash your hands and avoid sharing personal items. Keep wounds covered.

You need to speak with your prescribing physician about dosing instructions with the Suboxone. Make certain you follow his instructions, especially going from Methadone to Suboxone.

Levaquin made me very ill. I have lupus & was given Levaquin for a sinus infection. Big no no. Levaquin can & will give you autoimmune disease symptoms and I already had one. Trust me it is not worth it. After 6 pills my calf muscles began to cramp. Dr. says ibuprofen 600mg a day.. Well its been all downhill from there. I developed full body tendinitis,(couldn't walk) my joints & muscles swelled so bad my nerves were compressed.
5 or even 100 sometimes. She was taking Levaquin initially to see if there was a bacterial infection, but the antibiotic was giving her even higher fevers - once the antibiotic was stopped after two weeks of usage the fevers over 100 degrees also stopped as did some coughing she was having (the doctors say it is rare but maybe her body was reacting to the Levaquin).
No change in bowel or bladder except he recently has been on levaquin for second episode of prostatitis (first episode 20 years ago).
Any ideas about what is going on?

My husband was diagnosed with Bacterial Pneumonia and was prescribed Levaquin. He has been off the medication for about a week and a half and he is still experiencing phobic attacks in the morning. He wakes up in a panic and believes that he cannot breath. While he was taking the drug he experienced major confusion, anxiety, depression and dizziness. It was awful! He even experienced a very bad episode when he became abusive...and delusional.
