Hello about 3 months ago I was prescribed Levaquin for an upper respirtory infection. Well I did experience the normal side effects listed online but then started getted ringing in my ears. I only had a few days left of the medication and didn't realize the ringing wouldn't go away since the doctor told me it was due to an ear infection. I don't think Levaquin can be used to treat bacterial STD's (though I could be mistaken). Doxycycline (100 mg 2x per day for 7 days) can be used to treat effectively all sexually transmitted bacterial infections (Syphilis as well, but it would require 2 weeks on that treatment). But I don't think this is STD related. This could easily be due to something else. I had a similar problem which lasted several weeks while I was in London.

I have had allergic reaction to Levaquin and AzitheraI and have had side effects diarrhea and lightheaded from Cefdinir and Cephalexin so he prescribed Cipro 500mg. Thank you for your response. The only antibiotics I have had was a shot for an ear infection. I was suppose to take Levaquin for the ear ache but read all the side affects from taking it and flushed them down the toilet. Will all antibiotics cause you to not have a true result with the NAA test?

Nygirl, When I was on treatment, I got sick and my neuts fell to zero, I was on IV levaquin for 15 days and went home with oral levaquin for a few more weeks. I have cirrhosis. My liver enzymes didn't even budge. I think you will be ok, too. While we have to be cautious and make sure our docs are doing the right thing, many of those warnings are weighed against the benefits of taking the drug.

hi everyone. i have mrsa, been taking clindamycin 300 mg every 6 hours for 4 months now. it cleared up, went to 2 pills a day, and they all poped up again. they are dark, and when i pop them, for the first time puss is draining. doc says don't pick, but they hurt and get bigger unless i pop them. for 4 months it was just blood. there is a hard dot in the middle it hurts, but then it is relief. any comments???Please....

Usually seven days is required to see clinical benefit in severe sinusitis infection. If it stays worse for more than a week then further evaluation is required. Ideally, endoscopically-guided culture could be performed to determine the effective antibiotic and should be started without delay. If it is bright yellow or greenish you have a bacterial infection and by now it sounds like you could have a full blown sinus infection. You need a heavy duty antibiotic such as levaquin which is a 7 day treatment and you might have to take it more than once. Levaquin made me very ill. I have lupus & was given Levaquin for a sinus infection. Big no no. Levaquin can & will give you autoimmune disease symptoms and I already had one.
