levaquin and stomach pain

I was on levaquin a couple years ago, it made me very sick to my stomach and gave me some joint pain. I didn't realize until after I took it that it can damage tendons and I read it can also cause hernias. I would never take it again. That's just my opinion, I would also ask for something else.

I think that I have had a severe drug reaction and do you think the shooting pain is Levaquin related? I took Ibuprofen for the tendon pain for 2 years starting the day after I finished the Levaquin 3 years ago. Did this increase the nerve damage? I have no balance or muscular strength problems.

After a couple of days I started feeling pain in my upper chest, shoulder, down my right arm and right underarm. The pain feels like a needle is jabbing me. Sometimes the pain will go away and somtimes it is very bad and lasts for weeks at a time. I also have some musle pain in these areas. Can you please help me figure out what to do about this.

I would trust the pharmacist. I have had levaquin and synthroid and it has been fine. They have website that you can search the reaction of medications with each other. Just google it. Good luck!

You need to write a letter and send it certified mail. Pain in the joints and elsewhere are common side effects of Levaquin. Most times this wears off (the good news), but there are instances of long-term damage from this particular antibiotic (that's the bad news). Statistics are on your side.

Stopped taking Levaquin on Monday and is now Wednesay and pain is still unbelievable. Does anyone know how long the pain will last and is there any way to get the pain to go away sooner? My doctor said I should feel better in a couple of days.

I switched to Avelox and the stomach pain reduced quickly, so I do believe Rifampin was making it worse. About 2 weeks into Avelox I had some cramping in my left Achilles heel, so they switched me to Levaquin. If I have a problem with Levaquin, then no more drugs in that family for me. I don't know what the next choice is. It's all about risk vs. expected benefits.

I went in to my new doctor the next day (the pain had already started to go away before I saw him) and he called it epididymitis as well. He perscribed Levaquin for a week and I felt fine after that. I ended up traveling to Ecuador and became ill with some sort of food poisoning during the last 2 or 3 days of my antibiotics cycle. I eventually went to the er and was admitted. A colonoscopy was performed and the GI dr came back and told me that I had Ischemic Colitis. A couple of days later another GI dr came in and stated that there was no way that I could have Ischemic Colitis that I just did not fit the profile. Apparently there is something going on with my colon but no one can seem to agree to anything. They put me on Flagyl, Levaquin, Phenghan, Percocet, along with other things.

I was on levofloxacin (Levaquin) for my Bart, and I had to stop after six weeks when I developed pain in my left achilles heel. I was disappointed as my anxiety pretty much disappeared on it. Levaquin is known to cause tendon rupture, especially in the achilles tendons, even weeks or months after a person stops taking the drug.

I did find that taking 3 mg of boron a day (purchased at a health food store) inactivates the fluoride and got rid of the joint pain and burning in about a week. However to this day 4 years later the tightness in my leg remains. I worked with a trainer and my muscles are fine now. These drugs should be avoided at all cost!

If you have been taking levaquin, do not have a urine chlamydia test. Levaquin cures chlamydia and would make the test negative, even if you were infected recently. At this point, there is no point in having any more chlamydia testing at all.

Starting back up with low fiber diet has started the left pain again. I have tried Hyoscamin and that helped a little. So far I am still in pain and discomfort and am getting extremely frustrated. Any suggestions or comments.

Hello. I realize you posted this in 2011 and it's not 2018. Tonight I experienced a sudden drop of my abdomen, though no severe, it feels lumpy and I think my linea alba may have ruptured or separated. I have terrible stomach pain as if i did crunches for 2 days. Then I was changing and looked in the mirror and saw that my stomach didn't look like my stomach anymore. I recently had my mirena IUD removed as well, so I thought it could be hormonally related.

I had renal blood work done that came back within normal parameters and have yet to get my stool results back from the lab. My Dr. put me on Levaquin and atropine which i have been taking for 4 days with no improvement in my symptoms. I am now experiencing pain in my lower left abdomen. I aa also losing weight. I eventually figured out it was contributing to my chronic stomach pain. My doc switched me to Levaquin which worked beautifully. I started feeling better within days. About 2-3 months later, I noticed vibrations in my Achilles' tendons, and after a big cramp in one, we stopped the Levaquin. That was over a year ago. I didn't seem to have any residual problems from it. I was grateful the anxiety was gone. Late in the spring of this year, I took Cipro for a UTI.

ve had diarrhea for the past three and a half months (off and on) following a prescription of the antibiotic, Levaquin. I have not noticed any blood but do have minor abdominal and upper left stomach pains, sometimes to the point when I go to the bathroom I get chills/sweats and dizziness. Had an UTI and hence was put on levaquin. After the 8th day of taking levaquin, i had the problem of not able to swallow food.. Stopped levaquin and UTI went away.
