Levaquin and rashes

Common Questions and Answers about Levaquin and rashes

levaquin

I believe you are getting these rashes and lesions because the doxy is indeed stirring the pot. That is a pretty big confirmation for Lyme. And it really looks like you are getting both Lyme and Bart lesions at the same time. I have been unable to find anything else in my research that causes the stretch-mark or scratch looking rashes other than Bartonella.
I just wanted to update that the tendon issues and every other weird symptom under the sun is from fluoroquinolone toxicity from Levaquin. I was given IV Levaquin and steroids for my bout with sepsis and this is the result. I still have tendon issues, horrible neuropathy, and met several others with consistently high b12 and other b vitamin levels with FQ toxicity.
I went to a dermatologist, and he gave me dermatop for the red area, and as of this week, it seems to have cleared fairly well. I went to a Urologist, and he gave me Levaquin for prostitis. After a week, the stinging seems to be subsiding somewhat. I have also been tested for Clamydia and Gon, which came back neg. I wanted to get tested for the most common STD's, just to be sure, so I went to requestatest.com, and asked about their HIV anti-body test.
If your symptoms get worse when you take an antibiotic, specially some that are quite toxic...Why can't it be a sign of an adverse reaction instead of a "herx" reaction?
The swelling, and often ruptures under the skin, which are tender, massive rashes, and sore eruptions, on the shin of both legs. They almost healed, but after being seen by a skin specialist, but came back worse. Undiagnosed, sister suggested this site. MY MOTHER DIED AND WHEN WE QUESTIONED THE BURIAL AND FEATURES OF DONATIONG THE BODY, HER CHOICE,I WAS INFORMED THAT THE CAUSE OF THE SOURCE WAS NOT KNOWN.
My doctor first put me on Bactrim, and I had a rash all over my body and developed a fungal infenction as well. This was on day 8 of 10 on Bactrim. The doctor switched me to Keflex, and this time, that same day I got another rash all over my body. Then, she gave me a cream call Muciprocin, but i've been using it for over a week and see no improvement, although no rashes. Has this happened to anyone? Are there other antibiotics out there?
I was assessed with asthmatic bronchitis. I was given a nebulizer treatment and placed on Nasonex, Levaquin, keeping with Albuterol and guess what SINGULAIR was introduced by my PCP on this visit. On August 15, 2006, I underwent respiratory allergy test by Quest Diagnostic and my Immuoglobuin E (assuming Eosinophil) was out of range. In September of 2006, I had bronchitis, walking pneumonia and a viral rash that came while I was enjoying a walk in the sun at lunch.
Now its been 79 days since exposure and today i saw a puss again when i opened my uretha and have been constantly peeing every 45 minutes..and have mild rashes on the left side of the inner thigh...However dont have any rashes on my penis...So can this be any STD?? is it possible for the smptoms to occur 79 days after exposure?? when is the right time to test for stds??
Dear Doctors, I am a girl of 35 years, good health, normal weight etc. I would apreciate your opinion to my problems. November 2004 muscle twitching starts in calves. 1 month after a viral infection. Spreads over the next months to thighs, abdomen, genital area, and arms. July 2005 , I wake up one morning with as strange vibrating, pins and needles feeling in my genital area. The feeling persists, comes and goes durign the day but is there every day.
6) - heart palpations - hair loss on scalp, but hair growth on face, neck, chest, abdomen - malaise - jaundice - rashes on my face and forearms that intensifies when in the sun for too long - constipation - joint stiffness that is worse in the morning - recently I have had an unexplainable scatoma develop ONLY in the upper left quadrant of my left eye that respects the meridian (right eye is 20/20 and is fine).
Have there been any clinical studies at all on people experiencing Levaquin-related ailments? I'v had the joint pains, rashes, night sweats and eye pain for long enough--I'm desperate for relief. If anyone had had any help from a physician in the Las Vegas area with knowledge about these side effects, please email me at ***@****. I'm at the end of my rope.
Viruses can cause nerve damage and widespread muscle twitching rarely, but do not tend to cause localized rashes as you describe. Fasciculations involving the whole body are more likely to be benign, especially if no other neurological signs appear over time such as muscle weakness or wasting. Fasciculations can also occur from an overacitive thyroid gland (this should be checked for with blood tests), certain medications, excercise, cold exposure, pinched nerves or spinal cord problems.
If your doctor hands you a prescription for a fluoroquinolone antibiotic (this could be not only Cipro or Levaquin but also Avelox or generics ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, and moxifloxacin, or others), be very certain that your condition warrants the risks that come along with taking these drugs. Fluoroquinolones have fluoride as a central part of the drug. Fluoride is a known neurotoxin, and drugs with an attached fluoride can penetrate into very sensitive tissues.
I went for three days without a change and the pain was horrible. Finally I was given Levaquin and this worked; however the ear still itches and I feel little crawly things shooting across it occasionally, and if I itch them they will swell up and I get really sick and need the Levaquin again. In the last six years I have had over 8 perscriptions for Levaquin and many ear drops and nothing has taken the itch away. It always reappears. What do you think>?
This pain would intensify which would cause me to wince in pain and then release and then repeat all over again every 5-10 seconds for about a minute. This pain did not radiate anywhere but only within a specific point. Then this same stabbing sensation occurred half way up to the first knuckle of my right middle finger about 30 minutes later. Then immediately following this finger pain I felt pain in my right foot at the joint of my middle toe.
They switched my ab to Levaquin 250 for 7 days. No change in the infection, still had diarrhea, joint pain and back pain. AB was switched to Levaquin 500 for 10 days and I honestly felt GREAT!! 3 - 4 days all symptoms came back so they put on Levaquin 250 again. I had to give a stool sample and get a colonscopy - which came back negative. The stool sample showed no bacteria so I stopped the Levaquin as tinging came back. I have gone down hill since.
This new box warning via FDA is something i've been aware of for some time in patients using ciprofloxaxin, levaquin (levofloxacin), Moxifloxacin (Avelox), ofloxacin (floxin), gatifloxacin (tequin), and i'm glad it'll be highlighted on labeling, showing it's increasing incidence: risk of tendinitis and tendon rupture is further increased in those over age 60, in kidney, heart, and lung transplant recipients, and with use of concomitant steroid therapy.
I have an appt with an allergist that my husband has seen and I'm going to prompt him for the levaquin. He currently has my husband on it just in order to clear out his sinuses enough so that the ENT can go in & do surgery for his chronic sinusitus. I hope this info can help any of you out there going through this unwelcome guest in our lifes.
Went back to the dr 2 n a half weeks ago and he said it was folliculitis and gave me levaquin, but also did another lyme blood test. fast forward 3 days, the test came back positive. So i went back on doxycycline and didnt start the levaquin. Fast forward a week n a half, the rash was getting worse and keeping me up all night, so i started the levaquin.
I stopped immediately and am now taking Levaquin. This is my second day with this rash and it is much worse than yesterday. Do rashes generally get worse before they get better? Also, how long, on average, can I expect to havr this rash? I am taking Benedryl to help wth itchiness but it does not seem to be that helpful.
I show no physical symptoms - no rashes, bruising, bumps or tears. But the intensity and consistency of the irritation is causing me worry and a lot of emotional and mental pain. I have read some cases of men in the same boat, all at a loss, all suffering. I cannot focus. It's all rather unfortunate and entirely depressing. Could you please be of any help? Have you heard of this before? Thank you, once more, for your valuable time. I am desperate. Please, your opinion.
However, he said it could NOT be causing me so much pain. He checked out my arm and noticed a hard soft tissue knot, and suggested removing it through surgery and it "might" relieve my pain. So, 3 weeks ago I had the said surgery and it was removed (a hard soft tissue mass about the size of a marble). No, this was not the cyst inside my humerus bone. Anyways, I still have the pain, and it is extremely terrible at night (on a scale of 1 to 10, a 20 at night).
I have been diagnosed w/post viral syndrome afer a June bout of larynthitis followed by meningitis. I have had a variety of neurological effects for the past six minths that wax and wane and some go, new symptoms come. The latest thing I have is a wierd skin problem that is on my temples, forehead, across te bridge of my nose and on my throat and upper chest.
The doc put me on 2 more weeks of Levaquin, gave me Hydrocortisone Valerate for the itching and swelling on the penis, and gave me Clindamycin Topical gel for the folliculitis after the levaquin course was done. So, the infection in my penis went away, and has not come back. However, the pubic region started itching again, along with the area between my scrotum and thighs.
In normal no observation found on penishead. After some days i have observed small white rashes observed on penis head and my fore skin on penis head found very sticky. Then I used doctorin creame for ten days. Its seems to be ok in normal condition but pimple like bumps are still there when it get excited. After one month i went to general physician, he seen it and given anti bactirial cream T-bact, which has used for ten days, but no use.
A few days later I had some urinay issues going on and talked to a doctor friend who gave me levaquin (it worked a little) then symptoms were still ther (clear fluid after urinating, frequent urination, back pain, something inside the penis) so I went to a local helath department and got checked for clam.
I don't have hives or anything, just /pinkish/redness spots on my body. How long, on average, do these rashes take to go away? Is there anything I can do to get rid of this rash quicker? I stopped taking Bactrim immediately and am now taking Levaquin.
I'm wondering are there any STD's that could casue this pain and not cause any other symptoms. I have no rashes, discharges, bumps, or anything else. What STD's are found in urine and which are found other ways??? Thanks!!!
I don't have a positive test for it yet, but I have suspicions since my symptoms revolve around heart skips, chest pain, shortness of breath, conjunctivitis, and skin rashes/sensitivity. I've read that Levaquin seems to be a popular choice, but I'm concerned about taking long term antibiotics. Any thoughts on bacterial resistance to antibiotics? And what about the tendon damage that occurs from the quinolone family?
Am I scratching myself in my sleep? And if so, why? And how do I stop? Is it from stress? I just started college. And some times the scratch marks are bleeding.
