793305 tn?1493925518 Can I take Levaquin (quinolone antibiotic) at the same time as my synthroid...pharmacist said yes, but I'm skeptical...Everything messes with synthroid...but both need to be taken with lots of water and on empty stomach...kidney infection...my third in a year. How rude.
168348 tn?1379357075 Just wondering bcz I am on the Levaquin 500mgs 1X day for 7 days for a pretty bad urinary tract infection / small stone that passed (kidney) and along with normal side effects like gas, and feeling some tired/dizzy which I usually get from Levaquin I keep getting chills and more tired than normal but it comes and goes and yet my clinical symptoms for the UTI/stone passing are cleared up I do not think the chills are related to the medical problem and really wondering if after 5 days my TSH is
Avatar f tn Hi, Usually, the signs and symptoms of kidney infection begin to clear up within a few days of treatment. Take the entire course of antibiotics recommended by your doctor to ensure that the infection is completely eradicated. Recurrent kidney infections may result from an underlying medical problem, such as a structural abnormality.
Avatar n tn I took Levaquin unfortunately last week to treat a bacterial infection. The infection is gone but now my legs are tingling all the time and are in pain as well. I am wondering how long these side effects last and if there is any way to make them go away sooner. I am also having trouble sleeping now. I wish I knew this before taking this!!! This discussion is related to levaquin side effects .
804636 tn?1238002991 i need help to cure my urinary tract infection , i've tried levaquin 3 times and it keeps coming back , really need to know what the UTI REPORT has to say .
Avatar f tn t even believe it was a kidney infection. So, to treat this infection, they put me on levaquin. Mind you that levaquin should not be used by a young adult, such as myself. I was put on a heavy dosage for a little over a month and suddenly began getting odd symptoms such as a knee swelling to to the size of a melon.
Avatar n tn Let me begin by saying that I have a kidney condition known as FSGS. My kidney function has basically normal (stage 1-kidney disease). I check my urine at home with Chem Strips to check for protein. About a month ago I noticed nitrates were testing positive on the strips (Only +first morning urine), I had no symptoms of a UTI and I did nothing.
Avatar n tn Crap I just had a long post and lost the whole thing .Levaquin was a life saver for me and really severe kidney and bladder infections . Now I have no clue why they would put you on it unless he thought you had some infection .I will see if I can find any WD uses for it but I don't know of any right off . I would call the doc in the morning and ask what part of wds is it supposed to help with or like pharma said was it a mistake of some kind ?? Let us know what you find out.
Avatar m tn hey docs. i was treated recently for ngu and a testi infection. 750 mg of levaquen for 28 days. but this is what i read. The selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) sertraline (ZOLOFT), widely prescribed for depression, has been associated with a decrease in the effect of levothyroxine. i take zolaft 100 mg daily. i still have testi pain and burning. i am now bieng treated with diflucan for 7 days for a yeast infection. should i be worried. do u think my ngu was wiped out.
Avatar f tn Even though I took all of these meds, can it be that I still have a UTI , kidney infection or kidney disease? I am in the process of getting a renal and pelvic sonogram but it is a long time from now because of the holidays. Please help! Pain is unbearable.
Avatar m tn Hello, From the symptoms and the investigations already done, urinary tract infection and urethritis needs to be ruled out. I would suggest a 24 hrs urine test and a swab culture of the discharge to confirm the diagnosis. Unfortunately treatment is diagnosis specific and these investigations are needed for diagnosis. Till then drink plenty of fluids and cranberry juice because if it is simple UTI, then adequate amount of fluids will flush out the infection.
Avatar f tn Just wondering if anyone knows if a bladder infection can cause your CA125 to elevate. My gyno did blood work on me when I went to see him for the infection and I'm wondering what kind of number I'm going to see. He also put me on Levaquin which was worse then the infection itself. My oncologist is out of town right now which is why I had to see the gynocologist.
Avatar m tn The ultrasound from my personal doctor showed a kidney stone in my left kidney and slightly increased lymph nodes. On 05/06/10, I was released back to work and told to come back when the hernia was worse (or showing a buldge). Since that time, I have seen two Urologists, have had multiple xrays, blood work and urine tests (the blood and urine all come back clean).
Avatar n tn s say that the doctor calls me before the weekend and says that I did indeed have a bacterial infection that the Levaquin treated and all other tests came back negative (this is a hypothetical situation obviously). I started taking it today (Monday); by the time Saturday rolls around, I will have taken my 6/7 dose. My question is this: will I still be able to transmit any infection that I may have right now? Or will the Levaquin have made it so I am no longer contagious?
Avatar n tn She was taking macrobid for kidney infection in jan. but rash did not begin until feb. she has seen primary care, infectious disease control and allergy doctos and none of them can tell her what it is or what causes it. Biopsy says bacterial fungus, but steroids and antibiotics not helping.
Avatar m tn You need to change Doctors and go for a Second or even Third Opinion....The one thing they need to make sure that its NOT, is testicular cancer..... Best of Luck bud.....
Avatar n tn If you have been taking levaquin, do not have a urine chlamydia test. Levaquin cures chlamydia and would make the test negative, even if you were infected recently. At this point, there is no point in having any more chlamydia testing at all.
Avatar m tn suggested that a yeast infection could be possible. But that is what he is treating me for and has not been successful. What worries me is that I am going to the absolute best urologist in town and paying thousands out of pocket.
1831849 tn?1383228392 The levaquin should be making a big difference and you will feel so much better - now you know what a pseudo-relapse can feel like.
Avatar m tn Yes, before I became allergic to the stuff I did recall feeling quite a bit of joint pain with that class of medication. I used to take care of patients who were placed on levaquin for infection and noted that they would sometimes get what we nurses called "The Levaquin Shuffle". The affected patients would walk in a shuffle and complain of joint pain especially in the knees. In my case, yes, the pain did go away after a bit.
Avatar f tn I am taking Levaquin for the infection and have stopped running fever. I already had lithotripsy done for a 7mm stone and have collected the stone fragments for analyzing. The main problem now that I am having is the recurring migraine headaches, dilated eyes, severe nausea, shortness of breath, very rapid heart rate, and flu-like symptoms-aches. Could this be hormonal? I have been on Depo provera for 6 years and have not had a period the entire time.
Avatar m tn Hi and Welcome t o our Pain Management Forum. Levaquin is an excellant ATB (Antibiotic). However like many medications it comes with some risks and side effects. Form a trusted Web-site: "Levaquin is associated with an increased risk of tendon rupture or swelling of the tendon (tendinitis) in all ages. This risk is higher if you are over 60 years of age, are taking steroids (corticosteroid drugs), or if you have kidney, heart, or lung transplants" .....
Avatar f tn I've been taking Tylenot PMs for about 8 years. I had blood test taken and the results back that my emzymes are very high. My Dr.recommending me to a Liver Specialist. Also from the results from my blood test showed I had a kidney infection, I've been on Levaquin for about eight days now. I hope by me going to Specialist I will get answers. If enyone has any feedbacks please share it with me. Thankyou.
Avatar n tn I do have a tonsils problem and get Pharyngitis and/or Sinus infection, avg 3 times a year. I went to my FP on day 79 and he looked at my throat and ordered Amoxicillin. He also ordered for a HIV screening, Syphilis test and a CBC. All came back negative with normal CBC (WBC count 8.7). Later, the Pharyngitis got worse and I had to take a dose of Augmentin after my Amox dose. I also developed Allergic Rhinitis and also started having mild eye infection (1st right eye and the then left).
Avatar f tn My rbc count is low, urine shows bacteria. I have been on Bactrim DS, Levaquin and pyridium plus. Anyone have any ideas as to what could be going on?
Avatar n tn also I was on levaquin for 5 weeks followed by doxycycline for 2 right before I started having these issues to get rid of a stubborn mycoplasma pnuemonia infection in my lungs. could I have an infection due to some wierd resistent bacteria and that's why the antibiotics i'm taking now aren't working?
Avatar f tn I was admitted to the hospital and after numerous tests they diagnosed me with lobar nephronia (intermediate stage between a bad kidney infection and developing an abscess). They were surprised as this is seen more commonly in children, I'm 26. They put a PICC line in so I could give myself Rosephin for 4-6 weeks and released me from the hospital. Unfortunately, my body was leaking everyday for a week at the PICC line insertion site.
Avatar n tn The levaquin has had very minimal impact overall and I wish he’d given me more cipro and a longer cycle. Has anyone had a similar case where you relapses quickly? If so, were you given a new med and did that work? Were you given the same med? Any other ideas or insights would be helpful.
Avatar f tn My prior medical history is gastroparesis (of unknown etiology) and was just recently treated for a sinus infection with Levaquin 750 mg for 5 days. I was also very nauseous and dizzy today for several hours. Had a vague pain behind my eyes. Any thoughts?
