What do you think?? I have been assured by 2 Dr.'s that this is not gonorrhea and that the symptoms would show up within a few days if you contracted it...despite what the web sites say about asymptomatic infection. They said that it is an obvious discharge and horrible burning in a male within 2-5 days. This has no burning during urination and no discharge...just irritation at the end opening.
Is it also true that in 90% of the country Levaquin is still used for GC?
I then went to get tested and came back positive for Gonorrhoeae, negative for Chlamydia. I was given a shot, 4 pills and then prescribed 10 days of Doxycycline. My symptoms cleared up the next day. I have been reading on your forum about resistance to fluoroquines (Leviquin). Does Leviquin still work for gonorrhoeae? We live in Florida. Could my wife get gonorrhoeae from vaginal sex 1 day after I had a risky encounter?
Again the symptoms receded but again they returned. This time my doctor prescribed Levaquin (7 days x 500 mg) and 1 shot of Ceftriaxone. I was re-tested for Chlamydia and don't have the results yet.
I read scary reports of serious side effects of Levaquin. It's potent but has risks which is why it's given only as a second line of defense. I'm nervous about taking it and I'm wondering if there are effective alternatives to this.
ve had a case of epididymitis since December and was treated with Amoxillin (before/right when the swelling began for an unrelated case), Bactrim, Doxycycline, and Levaquin, the last of which seemed to help the most in reducing pain and inflammation; my urologist now wants to put me on a round of amitriptyline since the inflammation has not totally receded and since there has a decent amount of pain.
I have slight raised swelling around the opening of my penis that seems to flare up after oral and vaginal sex. I have recently been treated for epididymitis with Levaquin and had been on Doxycycline for acne for two months prior to this. I do not have any discharge and I have not had any frequent urination problems either. There is occasional itching at the opening that comes and goes. Does this sound like Chlamydia or Gon? Is there any other cause for this?
At this point I still had a bit of swelling in the testicle and spoke with my urologist and was prescribed another course of levaquin. ive taken it for 7 days now and see that i am still having the clear discharge and have some discomfort.
also, i was also treated for a mycoplasma pnemonia infection about 3 weeks prior and was given clarithomycin for 10 days.
i went to a new doctor, because I just moved out of state, and am waiting the results of a urinalysis.
Sure, there are lots of antibiotics. If you're allergic to azithromycin, you also probably can't take clarithromycin and erythromycin. And if doxycycline doesn't work, there's probably no used in taking tetracycline. So that does eliminate a lot of them. If the doxycycline isn't working, either your tests are consistently false positives, or you have a resistant strain. It's not typical, but it does happen.
It only did it once but it scared me so I found some old antibiotics. I took 1 gm of cefuroxime axetil once and 100 mg of doxycycline twice a day for 6 days. At this point I had two small white dots on the skin of my penis, but no pain or bump. I then took 6 days of levaquin. I was tested for all stds at 25 days. All were negative. At 4 weeks I saw a urologist. He tested my urine and felt my prostate. He was not concerned about the white dots.
Over the past couple of months I have been treated for prostatitis using Doxy, Cipro, and Levaquin at any given time. 7 weeks ago I was on Doxy, then 1 week of Levaquin, and the past couple of weeks on Cipro.
I do allow stimulation of my scrotum via mouth, hence my question.

I received oral sex unprotected for less than a minute from a sex worker about 10 weeks ago. I took antibiotics prophylactically for a week afterwards with levaquin and doxycycline. I had unprotected sex with my partner 5 days after the incident (had been taking antibiotics). I was never symptomatic with any pain or discharge.
I then had sex two weeks later. following this still no symptoms. Then 7 weeks later I had sex again.
Told me I had a slight case of epididymitis and gave me Levaquin 750mg followed by 500mg to take for two weeks. I began the levaquin and with in 3 days had to stop due to Bad side effects, to which the doctor recommended I take 40 days worth of Doxycycline.
After 20 days of doxycycline i still saw slight swelling, so I decided to go for a second opinion. The second Doctor examined me for seriously 10 secs, and said he doesnt see anything and for me to stop the antibiotics. SO i did.
It's been a year and a half since my exposure, which involved a insertive oral, the girl had bloody mouth. I've had dysuria, urethritis for a year and a half. Had taken levaquin, cipro, doxycycline, azythromycin, and cef. None worked. Could I have gotten genito-urinary tuberculosis, or tuberculosis urethritis from a bloody blowjob?
5 days on the Levaquin the penis tip burning went away but testicle pain remained. I finished the levaquin and went back to PCP she examined again and said prostate still inflamed and sent me to a Uro.

discharge turned milky and was in very less amount, after 7 days i got severe rectal pain (inflamation) , urethral pain, severe cough with phlegm, chills, shivering, fever, docs did sputum culture and find pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacillus,cocci, i got admit in hospital docs gave me meropenem inj with doxycycline and klacid for 8 days.
I was on levofloxacin (Levaquin) for my Bart, and I had to stop after six weeks when I developed pain in my left achilles heel. I was disappointed as my anxiety pretty much disappeared on it. Levaquin is known to cause tendon rupture, especially in the achilles tendons, even weeks or months after a person stops taking the drug.
I am on Levaquin right now (500 mg daily for 2 weeks) in an attempt to clear out any infections. I was on doxycycline for a week before, but I still have the same symptoms. They have changed, and I'm relatively thankful for that (testicular pain is horrible). Both Chlamydia and UTI tests came out negative (they even cultured my urine sample).
What do you think ? The fact that the pain is moving around is not good, but I don't know what it is. Could it be just 2 different things ?
I have been diagnosed with epdidymitis, octilis (sp), and prostatis. The doctor said my prostate felt a little infected. I've noticed some obvious red spots in my stool the last couple of times. Blood? Simutaneously, my left scrotum is sore and swollen for 1.5 weeks. I've been treating it with ice, ibuprofen, levaquin, and loratab for several days. Not really sure if the medicine's working after 3 days. May not be enough time.

he prescribed me doxycycline and phenazopyridine. I was tested for chlamydia,gonorhea,and trichomaonas, and they all came back negative. I had no sexual intercouse of any kind with the stripper, no ral nothing. I have never had sex before period. Im concerned because they didnt test for herpes. Is there a possibility I have herpes even though theres no visible sores what so ever. Should I go get tested. Or is this just anxiety thats really bothering me.
But worried this time could be due to the exposure, went to a GP and he presrcibed me with doxycycline for 5 days ( 100mg twice a day). After a week finishing the medication did Urine STD test(14 days post exposure and 7 days post doxy) and all came back negative. But since then i have been having pain on my right abdomen below stomach. Went for another test 22 days post exposur 15 days after doxy for urine STD test. All came back negative? Is this conclusive?
Recently I saw my MD and she ordered several blood tests and MRI to look for MS and other peripheral neuropathy causes. All blood tests and the MRI were normal. I think that I have had a severe drug reaction and do you think the shooting pain is Levaquin related? I took Ibuprofen for the tendon pain for 2 years starting the day after I finished the Levaquin 3 years ago. Did this increase the nerve damage? I have no balance or muscular strength problems.
I had unprotected sex with a new partner...and a week or so later i noticed pelvic pain. Made an appt and get tested for stds (12 days after unprotected sex). The doc found a uti and rx'd macrobid. Std tests came back negative. Macrobid didn't help and i developed burning with urination...doc gave me cipro. After cipro burning and pelvic pain was worse, so i went to the er. They found cervicitis and swabbed the pus for a std test and rx'd doxycycline for 2 weeks.
I have been sick since mid November with acute brohnchitis. Here it is almost January and I am no better. Deep cough with greenish phlegm, chills, fatigue, body aches. No fever at all, and have been on doxycycline and levaquin, with a cough syrup at night. I'm having a lot of chest pain when breathing. Is this still brohncitis? The doctor said my lungs were clear, but I'm not so sure. I can feel myself breathing in and out mucous.
