Common Questions and Answers about Levaquin and dogs

levaquin

My upper respiratory went into bronchitis when I came across a smoker in Sept.. I then got a sinus infection and was given 5 more pills of levaquin after the other medication was finished. I went to the ER when I was not able to breathe well. I was diagnosed with bronchitis. I was given a medrol pak. I finished the levaquin I had and 1 medrol pak. After finishing the medrol pak I had alot of pain around my ribs, manubrium, and upper back. It was hard for me to breathe.
I had a painful stabbing pain when I breathed and I felt popping in my ribs. I went to the ER and was diagnosed with acute bronchitis and pleurisy. I was given an x-ray where I was standing and not sitting. The x-ray came back no infection. I was given naproxyn 375 and 7 days levaquin. The pleurisy isn't better. I went to a pulmonologist in Oct & was given a medrol pak & levaquin 500/ 7 days for the acute bronchitis & pleurisy.
I had a bladder infection about a month ago and was taking Levaquin. So I wanted to put back some good stuff and was told I could chew the pills. They don't taste too bad. Trying to stay away from dairy products at the moment. I checked with several doctor's offices and they all say that the doc doesn't do the tests at the same time because insurance companies pay them hardly anything when the procedures are combined.
Then in 2004 I began with tingling in my right thigh and feet and burning sensations all over and now I twitch almost everywhere and the head pressure continues to be severe as well as the balance issues and the vision is terrible - floaters, flashes of light, vision dimming, pain behind my eyes. The balance gets so bad at times I feel as if I cannot stand up. I was recently tested for Lymes Disease (for the fourth time).
off kilter, tight forehead, concentration issues, post nasal drip. Antibiotics are just not cutting it. I've tried zithromax, levaquin, augmentum, and now on avalox.
OMG I’M IN #$%&*%# PAIN!!!! I have a deep puncture wound in between my index and thumb whith a piece of my glove stuck in it, a scratch under my thumb and I can’t move my hand. The protocol here in the US is to call the police and animal control so a police report is open once you get bitten by an animal. The only info I had to go on is that it was a dog named "x" . Luckly he was regstered in the city.
Hi Anne Well i work from home as a groomer but i,m still finding it very hard to cope and have told lots of my clients that i,m no longer grooming.I seem to be only able to do one or two dogs and only when i realy feel up to it. I seem to spend most of my time trying to get it together.I feel like the longer i stay in bed in the mornings the worse i feel.I feel somewhat better if i,m moving but find i get exhausted and cant wait for bedtime to roll around.
In Jun, I was sick with extreme fatigue, headaches, and dizziness. Saw a doctor in Jul and was given OTC headache meds. They did bloodwork that came back normal. Since that time I have had daily head pressure and tinnitus. The tinnitus comes and goes and can be really loud and annoying. Visited another doctor in Sep who thought it might be an allergic reaction and was given zyrtec for a month. No change with the head pressure.
However, he said it could NOT be causing me so much pain. He checked out my arm and noticed a hard soft tissue knot, and suggested removing it through surgery and it "might" relieve my pain. So, 3 weeks ago I had the said surgery and it was removed (a hard soft tissue mass about the size of a marble). No, this was not the cyst inside my humerus bone. Anyways, I still have the pain, and it is extremely terrible at night (on a scale of 1 to 10, a 20 at night).
I totally agree with ggreg. Go to the grocery store and buy some Activia brand yogurt. You will probably have to take this for 2 weeks before seeing any results. If you do see results after 2 weeks, don't stop taking it. Take it for a few months. Every single day. If you tested positive for C. Albicans, you have a real problem. The anti-biotics knocked out too much good bacteria in your gut making the bad bacteria in your gut get out of hand. Sugar feeds candida, making it worse.
I have been to about 30 doctors- including ENT's allergists, neurologists, chiropracters, opthamologists. psychologists, dentists and everything else u can think of. All CT scans, MRI of brain and blood work keep coming back clean and ok. Nothing I try seems to work. There was a period of time about 3 and a half years ago that the symptoms lifted for about 4 months and then it returned full force.
The only other details I can offer is that a few days before she got sick we walked through a wooded trail in Philadelphia where both dogs were not on a leash and meandered through the bushes and such. I also found a tick on her the next day, though her Lymes test was normal. My other dog has not shown any sign of illness at all and they are very close - sleep together, clean each other, etc. So I'm assuming that whatever it is is not contagious.

After a month of different type of antibiotics for pnuemonia, I finally got the right one (Levaquin) which cleared my lungs and got permission to begin exercising (slowly) last Monday. Has anyone experienced recovery from pneumonia and what I can expect during the recovery period? I have an anxiety problem and I can't tell if my current symptoms of fatigue, dizziness, weakness are normal recovery symptoms or are they a product of my anxiety?
Regular saline irrigation does not work in the upper sinuses, because of gravity, but the Sinus Flush defeats gravity. It works incredibly well with bacterial and viral infections, and some but not all fungal infections. The Flip-Turn is the original, and still the best Sinus Flush. WARNING! DISCLAIMER! The technique in this manual involves bending over in a hot shower. Obviously, if you bend over in a shower, there is a slight possibility that you can get dizzy and fall down.
Before it used to last a few weeks, then pass and each time it came back it was milder and milder and then gone, and for about 3 months it was completely gone. But now it came back about 2 months ago with no break and on top of it a new symptom where I feel as if the uvula is being irritated by my tongue and it always causes me to kinda gag my uvula out to fix it.
Had 103 fever for 3 days, went to the doctor on Monday and he gave me Levaquin 500 mg 1 tablet once a day for ten days. Knocked the fever right out of me and started to clear up the congestion. About the third day of fever I was pretty weak. Feeling better now and back to work. Hoping that the infection is clearing up; maybe by counts will go back up. We will see. I am so sick of BRAIN FOG. I also, had a case of nygirls, glue mouth syndrome. How terrible that was.
I am 25 years old I lived in Africa for around 3 months when I got back I had severe GI issue and over the months it turned into brain fog, dizziness, light-headedness, and feeling like I was going to pass out. I have sever pain generally in my head and chest area. I experience burning pain along with cold (freeze-like) sensations in my head down the back of my neck and chest. It always feels like I am wearing a heavy blanket as well and experience flu-like symptoms...
some are black, clear and red (with my blood). It turns out my dogs have these and my son has these. I have a referral to a dermatologist but wonder if the Dr. will even know what these are . My primary care Dr. had no clue. I have done so much research and think I know. We are all on our first round of Ivermectin now. I now believe this may be an epidemic in this country and few know about it. I do not know if it is causing the joint pain and cracking but I suspect it is possible.
First, I will feel a bit dizzy and nauseas, then I will have to run to the bathroom because the diarrhea hits me and I feel like while I'm going to the bathroom I will pass out, then the nausea and dizziness with cold chillls and then I am hot so I have to take the sweater off that I put on because I was cold. I am 30 years old and I have a mild case of lupus that has been under control with plaquinil over the past ten years.
This is an aweful condition. I'm tired, and my beautiful dogs are in bed with me, and i just wanna go to sleep. I'm gonna take a shower maybe that will help.
This is from your post “To be sure, Canadians have their complaints about their health care system — about long waits for elective care, including appointments with specialists and selected surgical procedures; shortages of doctors and nurses, particularly in rural areas; and the growing costs of covering an aging population. The Canadian Medical Association wants to mix private insurance into the government monopoly.
Thanks to Duchess47, Wepst and JDanMan for your comments and suggestions. I will seriously look into all of your suggestions and hope that it's just some seasonal allergy thing. Thanks again.
While usually associated with cattle/dairy and dogs, it is also tick borne. It has almost the same presentation as Lyme Disease, and can be as difficult to treat. If you have doubts about Lyme, you could always ask to be tested for Brucella.
I get these unexplained chills all the time, where im freezing cold with goose bumps all over my body. They hurt and I can barely walk they are so bad sometimes. I check my temp when I get these episodes and its perfectly normal. I do not have a infection or am not sick. Im not even in a cold environment. Everyone around me is not cold. Its the weirdest thing, and I cant find a answer for it. Its like my body is messed up and sending these chills for no reason. Please help.
Wow! I can't believe there are so many others having these same problems. I live in North Carolina, am a 45-year old male, and have had sinus issues for years. Since approximately early October, I have had severe sinus headache, pressure, dizziness (off balance feeling), and a general lethargic feeling. I went to my GP, who prescribed Augmentin, which did nothing. Last week, I saw an ENT, who prescribed Prednisone for 6 days, Levaquin, Ambifed, and Nasonex. Talk about being medicated!
I was raised in New England and have been doing development work in SE Asia for the past 3 decades. I am overwieght at 220 lbs and 6 ft in height, but have lost 20 lbs over the last few months on a low carb diet with lots of fresh salads. I haven't had any significant health issues for quite a while. I used to exercise regularly, even running marathons (Honolulu 2003), but slowed down a lot a few years ago due to the work load. Now I am starting to exercise more again.
It started off as every now and then but for the last month it is all the time 24/7. It is really taking a toll on my life. It is so bad it wakes me up and prevents me from falling asleep. I have had thyroid, hormones, mri, ct scan and many other tests. The only test that came back questionable was my ANA, it is positive, speckled pattern. My RA factor was negative. I have no diagnosis as of yet. I do have Epstein Barr virus too.
At first I thought it was my liver because it got worse when I drank, so I got a PET scan of my liver and spleen and got blood tests and everything was normal. I also got a endoscopy and colonoscopy because I was constipated for 2 weeks and that was all normal except for chronic gastritis. My uncle is a nurse and said that the pain sounds like it could be my gallbladder, so I had a ultrasound on my gallbladder, pancreas and right kidney 2 days ago and they said everything is normal there too.
