levaquin

187666 tn?1331173345 Only when I was in the hospital and put on IV meds did the inflamation go down enough for the surgery. I had a PICC line for awhile and would infuse Flagyl and Levaquin. Oh and the bitter taste in the mouth, definately Flagyl...makes drinking water hard as it tastes weird....Take care and God Bless.
Avatar n tn Antibiotics take longer and longer to work and the pain is terrible. I had a colonoscopy last year and it showed mild diverticulosis and a few small polyps.(which they removed) . Whats happening ? Am I getting immune to the antibiotics too ?
Avatar f tn I filled the prescription but before I could start taking it, I had another diverticulitis attack. I am currently taking flagyl and levaquin for the diverticulitis. I am also on omeprazole daily. My question is how do I manage these two conditions when one requires a high fiber diet and the other a low fiber.
Avatar m tn I have also had a EGD primarily for Barrettes esophagus but found nothing in the stomach. Thinking it could be diverticulitis, the gastroenterologist has me on first was Levaquin then on Cipro and flagyl and a clear diet for two days. All that did was make me extremely hungry although the left quadrant pain did subside a little. Starting back up with low fiber diet has started the left pain again. I have tried Hyoscamin and that helped a little.
Avatar f tn I have had a total of 10 diverticulitis attacks since 2006, of which 7 have been in the last 2 years, and 3 in the last month an a half. I had 10 days of Flagyl and Levaquin beginning March 15, then 10 days beginning April 15, and I'm starting a 14 day dose today. My sed rate was 80 but WBC is normal. Scans in March and April showed mild diverticulitis. Is this normal to continue to have to take these anti biotics? It seems to me that they must not be working for my infection.
Avatar m tn 5 months ago and diagnosed w/ diverticulitis....she placed me on antibiotics and referred me to a Gastroenterologist. Antibiotics helped as well as low residue diet. I then had a colonoscopy 4 months ago. I was told my colon looked good and to get a follow up colonoscopy in 5 yrs which was reassuring. I have changed my diet quite a bit in the past several months. No nuts, seeds, etc. I'm eating healthier. Oatmeal/banana/juice every AM.
Avatar n tn I have had perhaps 6 or so bouts of diverticulitis over the past 10 years and am undergoing one now after 5 years of none. My internist sent me to a surgeon who told me I was having a mild attack but he recommended surgery to remove the diseased colon (12" of lower sigmoid). None of my diverticulitis attacks have been severe to the point of hospitalization and the current CT scan doesn't show anything extraordinary. I am 64.
Avatar n tn Recently I saw my MD and she ordered several blood tests and MRI to look for MS and other peripheral neuropathy causes. All blood tests and the MRI were normal. I think that I have had a severe drug reaction and do you think the shooting pain is Levaquin related? I took Ibuprofen for the tendon pain for 2 years starting the day after I finished the Levaquin 3 years ago. Did this increase the nerve damage? I have no balance or muscular strength problems.
Avatar n tn A colonoscopy is how most diverticulitis is discovered, and yes it is safe.
Avatar n tn From the symptoms I really thought I might be pregnant, bloated, nausea, diarrhea, light headed, exhausted all the time, but I knew I couldnt be with birth control and I had a test before the BC. Turns out its diverticulitis. Symptoms to me seem very similar. Never had a child though so I cant say for sure. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn You need to write a letter and send it certified mail. Pain in the joints and elsewhere are common side effects of Levaquin. Most times this wears off (the good news), but there are instances of long-term damage from this particular antibiotic (that's the bad news). Statistics are on your side.
Avatar n tn Perhaps you could try drinking Keffir - its a live culture yogourt drink that helps to re-establish the normal bacteria in your gut. I have been off and on flagyl, levaquin, bactrim, and cipro for the last 14 weeks and am having bowel resection surgery for diverticulitis tomorrow. The Keffir really helped me - tastes kind of weird but it works . You can also eat any kind of yogourt that contains live culture - DanActive or Activia.
Avatar n tn s say that the doctor calls me before the weekend and says that I did indeed have a bacterial infection that the Levaquin treated and all other tests came back negative (this is a hypothetical situation obviously). I started taking it today (Monday); by the time Saturday rolls around, I will have taken my 6/7 dose. My question is this: will I still be able to transmit any infection that I may have right now? Or will the Levaquin have made it so I am no longer contagious?
Avatar f tn Many antibioitics cause reflux. Levaquin is a strong one and is known to cause problems. I would recommend that you take the Levaquin with dinner tonight (it is supposed to be taken with food) and then enjoy the evening with your husband so you can both monitor your symptoms. If you have the difficulty breathing again, you should go to an ER. Also, if you are an asthmatic, you probably just need to use your inhaler on a regular basis while you get over this infection.
Avatar m tn Have severe joint pain in both knees and shoulders. Hurts to walk, and cannot move my arms above my head. Stopped taking Levaquin on Monday and is now Wednesay and pain is still unbelievable. Does anyone know how long the pain will last and is there any way to get the pain to go away sooner? My doctor said I should feel better in a couple of days.
Avatar m tn I was on levaquin a couple years ago, it made me very sick to my stomach and gave me some joint pain. I didn't realize until after I took it that it can damage tendons and I read it can also cause hernias. I would never take it again. That's just my opinion, I would also ask for something else.
Avatar f tn I went to the dr. today and was dx with a UTI. I am pretty sure I just have a UTI but if for whatever I have an STD will the Levaquin that I am taking for my UTI cure chlamydia or gonorhea? I am taking 500mg for 6 days. Please help me. This discussion is related to Levaquin for Chlamydia/Gonorrhea.
Avatar n tn About 3 weeks ago I had a sudden onset of pain in my stomach between my ribcage and my hip, left side, halfway between my naval and side. Pain got worse over the next few hours. Called doctor on call (it was evening) and he suggested I go in to ER to have it checked out, could be kidney stone. Urinalysis came back ok so they wanted to do CT with contrast instead of no contrast to check for diverticulitis. In the meantime my white blood count came back a little high.
Avatar n tn After taking a fluoroquinolone, the worst being Ciprofloxacin and Levaquin, but also Avelox, and several others, any medications doctors prescribe from there on will greatly worsen a person's condition......as will all over-the-counter drugs. Most doctors know less than nothing about this drug. Nor will blood tests show anything; that's because this drug destroys the human body at the molecular level. Designed to kill anthrax, it is also used as a chemotherapy drug.
Avatar n tn The typical symptoms of prostatitis are fever, pelvic, testicle, or rectal pain, frequent and painful urination and ejaculation and incomplete emptying of bladder. In addition to the antibiotics, use medications to help relieve bothersome symptoms, such as alpha blockers to relieve urinary symptoms and anti-inflammatory medications for pain. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn If you have been taking levaquin, do not have a urine chlamydia test. Levaquin cures chlamydia and would make the test negative, even if you were infected recently. At this point, there is no point in having any more chlamydia testing at all.
793305 tn?1493925518 I would trust the pharmacist. I have had levaquin and synthroid and it has been fine. They have website that you can search the reaction of medications with each other. Just google it. Good luck!
Avatar n tn At this point I still had a bit of swelling in the testicle and spoke with my urologist and was prescribed another course of levaquin. ive taken it for 7 days now and see that i am still having the clear discharge and have some discomfort. also, i was also treated for a mycoplasma pnemonia infection about 3 weeks prior and was given clarithomycin for 10 days. i went to a new doctor, because I just moved out of state, and am waiting the results of a urinalysis.
