Levaquin and bronchitis

Common Questions and Answers about Levaquin and bronchitis

levaquin

Avatar f tn Since being off Levaquin for the past few months, I have had chronic bronchitis and pneumonia since. My muscles and body is in agony. I now have to use oxygen all the time, day and night. The recovery times from surgeries are greatly extended now. I'm having another back surgery in a few weeks.
Avatar f tn 00 am and had no breath - and could not speak or call my husband although I was trying to say 'help'. I got my breath back after a minute or so and was pretty shaken up by this. I'm very tired but reluctant to go back to sleep if it happens again. I was pretty shaken up. Is this an allergic reaction or a side effect?
Avatar f tn My doctor prescribed prednisone, Symbicort, and also wants to give me Levaquin. I am over 55 years old, and I also have pre-diabetes (6.0 A1C - and am on metformin), and high blood pressure being successfully treated via Benicar. Two nurse friends of mine are literally screaming at me to not take the Levaquin due to achilles muscle rupture tendencies (one is suffering personally from it at this time and has been for more than one year now).
Avatar n tn If you have been taking levaquin, do not have a urine chlamydia test. Levaquin cures chlamydia and would make the test negative, even if you were infected recently. At this point, there is no point in having any more chlamydia testing at all.
Avatar f tn You need to write a letter and send it certified mail. Pain in the joints and elsewhere are common side effects of Levaquin. Most times this wears off (the good news), but there are instances of long-term damage from this particular antibiotic (that's the bad news). Statistics are on your side.
Avatar m tn Five months ago I had taken Levaquin. The doctor gave it to me for bronchitis. After a couple of days I started feeling pain in my upper chest, shoulder, down my right arm and right underarm. The pain feels like a needle is jabbing me. Sometimes the pain will go away and somtimes it is very bad and lasts for weeks at a time. I also have some musle pain in these areas. Can you please help me figure out what to do about this.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed leviquin for bronchitis and sinus infection after a prior antibiotic didn't work. I was also put on a steroid (dextremethisone) something like that. It was a 10 day treatment. The first couple doses made my heart feel like it was coming out of my chest, that passed.
17484539 tn?1580565249 I'm down with acute bronchitis which I get every 2-3 years and which normally lasts 1-2 weeks & then I'm symptom-free. i'm on a round of Levaquin 7 days) and prednisone short term (5 days) covid test negative and no pneumonia, however on the chest X-ray was written "signs of COPD changes." What the heck does that mean and how is COPD really diagnosed? I'm an ex-smoker, stopped in 1982.
Avatar f tn I was told that some people are particularly likely to experience these side effects on Levaquin and that we tend to get hid pretty hard with them. Tell your doctor about every symptom and enlist his/her help in treating them (symptomatically or at the source) and in remembering to prescribe a different drug if there is a next infection. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I have been sick since mid November with acute brohnchitis. Here it is almost January and I am no better. Deep cough with greenish phlegm, chills, fatigue, body aches. No fever at all, and have been on doxycycline and levaquin, with a cough syrup at night. I'm having a lot of chest pain when breathing. Is this still brohncitis? The doctor said my lungs were clear, but I'm not so sure. I can feel myself breathing in and out mucous.
Avatar f tn I have been on a course of Levaquin 2 weeks ago and am still sick. Prior to this cold I had another cold and was on a Z pac, can't seem to get any better... Never had a fever, just productive cough raising green phlegm.. Should I be working about my immune system at this point?
Avatar m tn Hi, Six months ago I suffered tendinitis in both Achilles tendons following a course of an antibiotic based on Fluoroquinolones prescribed for bronchitis. I also suffered a loss of balance, muscle bulk, weakness, all symptoms associated with peripheral meuropathy. What can I do to alleviate these symptoms? Avatar n tn But the cough and the asthma were still there, so they put me on another Medrol course, and Levaquin. The cough cleared up for the most part, as did the wheeze, but the meds had serious side effects – I stopped the Levaquin after 8 doses, because it was making me depressed and exhausted, which I still am. I am also still coughing a bit (producing a little mucus), and feel short of breath, but my lung function is at 92% and I have optimal peak flow (475).
Avatar m tn I took mass amounts of cipro and levaquin. I have all over the body stinging for 3 years, heart pounding, terrors, I feel I am going to rip my skin off.. I feel so altered.. I also have tiny crystals all over my hands like glitter.. morgellans? If anyone has the all over the body stinging which feels like you are in a bag of hornets. heart pounding and terrors please write me..I am only hanging on by a thread.
Avatar m tn I am now on my third round of antibiotics (first cipro for a possible UTI and then biaxin and now levaquin for bronchitis and and pnuemonia (my doctor also though I might have prostatitis). The originall sore (probably a cold sore) healed after about 10 days. I now have another sore on the other side of my mouth (inside my bottom lip). I had not been worried anymore until I had an irritated raw area (wher the skin was rubbing off) on the inside of my right cheek.
Avatar n tn Recently I saw my MD and she ordered several blood tests and MRI to look for MS and other peripheral neuropathy causes. All blood tests and the MRI were normal. I think that I have had a severe drug reaction and do you think the shooting pain is Levaquin related? I took Ibuprofen for the tendon pain for 2 years starting the day after I finished the Levaquin 3 years ago. Did this increase the nerve damage? I have no balance or muscular strength problems.
Avatar m tn My girlfriend started Yaz in the middle of a cycle In mid september and then proceeded to get bronchitis and was on every antibiotic you can think of...levaquin, cipro, arizthro....steroids, etc. She still is. Ok, my issue here is this. on October 6th, I developed a redish, itchy and dry rash on the base of my penis where it connects to my body. My girlfriend developed a yeast infection on the night of Oct. 4th, we had unprotected sex that morning and did not wash....
215342 tn?1287838418 I went to the doctor on Monday of this week (5 days ago) and was told I probably have bronchitis, although if I didn't respond to antibiotics, he wanted to test me for Whooping Cough. He put me on Levaquin because I am allergic to Erithromycin. I have not improved significantly. I'm wondering two things... 1. Does it sound like whooping cough? 2. Even if I get tested, would it be accurate due to the Levaquin? These are my symptoms...
Avatar f tn t have a UTI but did show blood, white cells, large amounts of protein and something else, I cant remember. Doctor told me to stop the levaquin and gave me the Z-pack for bronchitis. I was refered back to the urologist that I had seen years prior. The dip test he did showed there was an infection. He then sent me for an ultrasound and that showed my bladder wasnt empting. So after more ultra sounds have found that my bladder is typically holding between 220 and 380 of urine.
Avatar n tn s say that the doctor calls me before the weekend and says that I did indeed have a bacterial infection that the Levaquin treated and all other tests came back negative (this is a hypothetical situation obviously). I started taking it today (Monday); by the time Saturday rolls around, I will have taken my 6/7 dose. My question is this: will I still be able to transmit any infection that I may have right now? Or will the Levaquin have made it so I am no longer contagious?
Avatar m tn Have severe joint pain in both knees and shoulders. Hurts to walk, and cannot move my arms above my head. Stopped taking Levaquin on Monday and is now Wednesay and pain is still unbelievable. Does anyone know how long the pain will last and is there any way to get the pain to go away sooner? My doctor said I should feel better in a couple of days.
Avatar m tn I was on levaquin a couple years ago, it made me very sick to my stomach and gave me some joint pain. I didn't realize until after I took it that it can damage tendons and I read it can also cause hernias. I would never take it again. That's just my opinion, I would also ask for something else.
Avatar f tn I went to the dr. today and was dx with a UTI. I am pretty sure I just have a UTI but if for whatever I have an STD will the Levaquin that I am taking for my UTI cure chlamydia or gonorhea? I am taking 500mg for 6 days. Please help me. This discussion is related to Levaquin for Chlamydia/Gonorrhea.
Avatar n tn Went to see a doctor, who confirmed prostatitis--not BPH--with digital probing, and gave me azithromycin, then levaquin, ten day courses of each. Neither had any noticeable effect beyond making me constipated. I did online research and found out that most prostatitis is not bacterial, a possibility the doc (who was elderly) did not even appear to consider.
Avatar n tn The typical symptoms of prostatitis are fever, pelvic, testicle, or rectal pain, frequent and painful urination and ejaculation and incomplete emptying of bladder. In addition to the antibiotics, use medications to help relieve bothersome symptoms, such as alpha blockers to relieve urinary symptoms and anti-inflammatory medications for pain. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
