I took Tussionex for the first time at 11:00 pm after I took a Levaquin at 10:00 pm. I have bronchitis. I awoke suddenly from my sleep at 2:00 am and had no breath - and could not speak or call my husband although I was trying to say 'help'. I got my breath back after a minute or so and was pretty shaken up by this. I'm very tired but reluctant to go back to sleep if it happens again. I was pretty shaken up. Is this an allergic reaction or a side effect?
Levaquin made me very ill. I have lupus & was given Levaquin for a sinus infection. Big no no. Levaquin can & will give you autoimmune disease symptoms and I already had one. Trust me it is not worth it. After 6 pills my calf muscles began to cramp. Dr. says ibuprofen 600mg a day.. Well its been all downhill from there. I developed full body tendinitis,(couldn't walk) my joints & muscles swelled so bad my nerves were compressed.
I have a question about antibiotics. Since 2001, I have what I thought was an allergy to Cipro. Took it for an upper respitory infection for 3 days and had terrible problems. The Dr then gave me Levaquin, took for 7 days, with the same side effects. Just this past winter, I had a UTI that wouldn't go away and was treated with Biaxin and another abx (I can't remember which one, I have to look...maybe Ceftin) and had a bad reaction to both of them.
She had a severe allergic reaction to levaquin back in september, but recent rash did not begin until feb. She was taking macrobid for kidney infection in jan. but rash did not begin until feb. she has seen primary care, infectious disease control and allergy doctos and none of them can tell her what it is or what causes it. Biopsy says bacterial fungus, but steroids and antibiotics not helping.
Hi. I definitely have allergies (cats/ragweed) and asthma. Two years ago in August, I was sick, vomiting I was so ill. Twice, two weeks apart. From that point on fatigue never left me. Several months later, in February, I came down with a horrible upper respiratory infection at the same time I was exposed to a huge dose of animal protein and a very unsanitary condition filled with unimaginable filth. I've never lost my voice before, but this time, I could hardly squeak out a word.
I need help please. My doctors had me on Levaquin for 4 years straight. I believe it's destroyed most of my immune system. Since being off Levaquin for the past few months, I have had chronic bronchitis and pneumonia since. My muscles and body is in agony. I now have to use oxygen all the time, day and night. The recovery times from surgeries are greatly extended now. I'm having another back surgery in a few weeks.
I am pretty sure I just have a UTI but if for whatever I have an STD will the Levaquin that I am taking for my UTI cure chlamydia or gonorhea? I am taking 500mg for 6 days. Please help me.

Hi everyone...has anyone ever been on Levaquin (it's in the same class of antibiotics as Cipro)? I was on it for 5 days of my 10 when I started getting some wrist pain and they took me off it. I didn't even know it causes tendon damage.
Just wondering if anyone else had those side effects???
I think my mom was on it (IV) but didn't have any side effects. All I can say is if they want to put you on it, ask for something else unless there is no choice! Thanks!

Going to pcp this morning. Just finished levaquin for 3 weeks, didn't seem to touch my sinus infection. Feeling pain in my back like i did last year when i had pneumonia. So tired. Face/eyes swollen, ent said try claritin, so took that this morning and f/u with ent next week. Need refills of lortab and compazine from pcp, feel like a druggie.
No change in bowel or bladder except he recently has been on levaquin for second episode of prostatitis (first episode 20 years ago).
Any ideas about what is going on?

My husband was diagnosed with Bacterial Pneumonia and was prescribed Levaquin. He has been off the medication for about a week and a half and he is still experiencing phobic attacks in the morning. He wakes up in a panic and believes that he cannot breath. While he was taking the drug he experienced major confusion, anxiety, depression and dizziness. It was awful! He even experienced a very bad episode when he became abusive...and delusional.
I have had two ear infections, have taken 3 courses of antibiotics, the last one being Levaquin and Cipro eardrops. I have had a constant runny nose the entire time and recently whenever I blow my nose I have bloody mucus. I also feel congested and am having a hard time hearing. I am also tired a lot, more than usual. I have seen my ENT numerous times and he lately concluded that its my severe allergies and changed my medication but so far no changes.
m on Levaquin. He has also prescribed Prednisolone for a six day time span to help open things up. I have had problems with my ears and sinus's since I was very little. I currently get allergy injections, take Rhinoquart Aqua and Claritin for my allergies. We were very hopeful that these steps would help keep this problem form happening again and again.
treated with doxycycline by end of june for 1 wk. started on avelox end of july for 1 wk. then given levaquin for a wk. by last wk doc said she didn't think was infection cause levaquin shoudl have killed anything, even though I was still having gobs of green phlegm coming down the back of my throat and out of my lungs. she sent me to the asthma and allergy clinic where i was tested for 27 diff allergies all negative for.
I came home that day washed very well and started drinking a lot of fluids. I ended up starting to take antibiotics as well. I had a prescription for Levaquin 500 mg pills. I have 20 days worth. Will that kill anything that I could have contracted?
I've been on 500mg. of Levaquin for 4 days and I'm having difficulty breathing. Not all the time at times it's just hard to catch my breath without doing anything too physical. Has anyone else had this side effect?
My doctor prescribed prednisone, Symbicort, and also wants to give me Levaquin. I am over 55 years old, and I also have pre-diabetes (6.0 A1C - and am on metformin), and high blood pressure being successfully treated via Benicar. Two nurse friends of mine are literally screaming at me to not take the Levaquin due to achilles muscle rupture tendencies (one is suffering personally from it at this time and has been for more than one year now).
Again the symptoms receded but again they returned. This time my doctor prescribed Levaquin (7 days x 500 mg) and 1 shot of Ceftriaxone. I was re-tested for Chlamydia and don't have the results yet.
I read scary reports of serious side effects of Levaquin. It's potent but has risks which is why it's given only as a second line of defense. I'm nervous about taking it and I'm wondering if there are effective alternatives to this.
Hello about 3 months ago I was prescribed Levaquin for an upper respirtory infection. Well I did experience the normal side effects listed online but then started getted ringing in my ears. I only had a few days left of the medication and didn't realize the ringing wouldn't go away since the doctor told me it was due to an ear infection.
I have been off balance and have had visual problems and anxiety of not feeling right sometimes through the day.
My prior medical history is gastroparesis (of unknown etiology) and was just recently treated for a sinus infection with Levaquin 750 mg for 5 days. I was also very nauseous and dizzy today for several hours. Had a vague pain behind my eyes. Any thoughts?
