letrozole to get pregnant

I was wondering if anyone has used letrozole to get pregnant and if so did you have any side effects while taking it? My doc just prescribed it and I am just curious about it's effectiveness..

It is possible, occasionally, to get pregnant after stopping clomid. However I would recommend two other options. One is to consider a drug called letrozole. Sometimes clomid, although it makes women with PCOS ovulate, causes the uterine lining (or endometrium) to be too thin to support a pregnancy. Letrozole does not have this side effect. Another set of drugs to consider are injection fertility drugs.

I thought I might finally be pregnant so I went to my dr. and the test was negative. How can this be?? I get my period every month, finally miss a cycle, and it's negative? It's now the end of Nov. and my period still has not shown. I'm so hurt and frustrated. I just want to be a mommy so badly. My dr said that if I don't get my period by mid Dec., she will start me on Letrozole. I really wanted to try metformin, but she insists on trying this Letrozole medication.

Hi all!. Im new here and hoping to get involved on the subject matter and happy to hear your thoughts please. My dr prescribed me on clomid at first 2 months, 3rd month we tried gonadotrophin injection with clomid as well. Still my follicles are resistant. Now, i was advised to take Letrozole (Dracenax) for my 4th cycle and hopefully get a positive result! Anyone heard for the brand name Dracenax? Thank you!!

Anyone get pregnant using femara/letrozole after being given unexplained infertility diagnosis? How many months did you take it before you got your positive? Me: 28 Hubby: 30 Sperms analysis perfect, laparoscopy perfect, all tests for ovulation and ultrasounds looked perfect. Trying since 2012 no pregnancy yet This is my 2nd cycle on femara, next ovulation expected on 1/14. If 3rd cycle not successful, will do iui with femara anyone else done this and got pregnant? ?

I'm 25 I've been trying to get pregnant for over a year, my periods are usually regular although last month I didn't get my period for the whole month went to doctors..not pregnant. I used to have 9 to 16 days of bleeding before letrozole! After being on letrozole, how many days are you bleeding? This is my second time with Letrozole and I had 9 days of bleeding the first time. By Day 5 I'm ready to quit letrozole because it makes my bones a bit achy, my breasts are super tender and less firm, and overall I feel like I constantly have a buzz that you get with one glass of wine.

I am so sorry to hear you are going through this. Please hang in there and things will fall into place in time. I was in a similar situation. After unsuccessful clomid / IUIs cycles I was determined to move onto IVF. I know my doctor did not like my decision to move onto IVF but I was determined to get pregnant and I personally didn't want to waste time and money on things that did not work. I was blessed to have insurance cover most of the cost but it is expensive.

Have asked before but want to hear of any positive stories using letrozole(femara) to help with ovulation, this drug is primarily a drug used to help with breast cancer and is still in research stage for fertility problems, my dr is talking with other gp's because is not happy to prescribe it to me.

I have now finished Letrozole and am still bleeding on day 8 and I have a baseline ultrasound on Monday 8/3 to check my follicles to see if I am good to take ovidrel. So my questing is, is it pointless to go to the appointment if I'm still bleeding. Is this cycle going to be pointless???

Hello, havnt had late period due to letrozole but wanted to reply to your post as I am in exactly same position as you, had Alfie at 38yrs and have been trying for sibling since, i''m 41, nearly 42 , tried clomid , gave me cysts after 4 cycles, had 4 unsuccessful ivfs(taking every bit of our savings nearly £20000) and now back to trying naturaly(alfie was natural)-cannot try letrozole as not licsensed in U.

and so far I am having a regular cycle with the 1000mg of metformin I just hope it helps me get pregnant and I want to try clomid but the ob said that he wanted to see how my periods are with no birth control

so i hear that your really fertile after a miscarriage but see i took letrozole to get pregnant so can i get pregnant even if i had to take medication to get pregnant or should i just wait til my next cycle and take my meds and hope for the best?best of luck i know how heartbreaking it is to lose what you wanted most!!

re said its probably from the clomid and that if this last iui didnt work they would have to switch my meds. what do they put you on if clomid is causing problems?

If your gynae prescribed it, you should be able to get it at the pharmacy. Femara is another name for it.

I was diagnosed with pcos a year ago. My husbad and I have been trying to get pregnant for two years. I recently just finished my first batch of letrozole.I just did my first ovulation kit today. Has any one else tried this type of medicine, how long was it before you got a positive on your ovulation test and howl long before you conceived?
