I have used both and after five attempts with clomid no success and the first try with letrozole I got pregnant with my son due to placenta ruption. I'm trying letrozole again with this cycle.

I am now pregnant with my second child. This time I tried clomid (with no success) then switched to letrozole. I was about to go back to taking metformin, but found out I was pregnant. It is very difficult when you barely ever ovulate. Good luck!

I did letrozole(femara) with injectibles and it worked first round. My baby is now 10 months.

Hello, has anyone not had much success with clomid to help ovulation so tried a different drug i.e letrozole(femura) instead.

My husband & I have been trying to conceive our first child for almost 1 year with no success. We follow my ovulation calendar but have not had success. I am 31 & my husband is 32, we are both healthy, active adults. My doctor had me try 1 round of Provera with no success in August & 5days of Letrozole in September - just before I started my menstral cycle November 22, the week prior I experienced morning nausea & amazing sense of smell.

Have asked before but want to hear of any positive stories using letrozole(femara) to help with ovulation, this drug is primarily a drug used to help with breast cancer and is still in research stage for fertility problems, my dr is talking with other gp's because is not happy to prescribe it to me.

Hi! I'll be taking femara 2.5 CD3-7 next week for superovulation. Has anyone had success with femara? I'm not counting on it to work after just 1 cycle, but I'm really hoping it will! Does anyone who has taken femara have any advice? Did you ovulate later than usual???? Any info you can give is appreciated!!!!!

I have a success story!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was on clomid for 4 months. The first 3 months were given by my OB. 50mg, 100mg and 150mg. She then referred me to a RE. He tried me on one more round of clomid 150mg to no avail. I had an HSG done and all tubes were clear. I was then put on letrozole (femara) days 3-7. Went in on day 14 for an u/s and had a follicle measuring 17.5mm. Did OPK for a few days and got my +. Went in the following day and had IUI. I am now 12.5 weeks pg with TWINS!

Ok, so, doc doubled my Letrozole this cycle and for first time had more than one follicle growing so had hope this time..a little history, I have PCOS and Agressive Endometriosis. 2 failed IUI's so far with letrozole and HCG inj. Before that, Clomid for 9 months with no success. So this time again, follicles on the left stopped growing at 14mm, and the one on the right was 24mm today but was a anuovulated.. I used to have 9 to 16 days of bleeding before letrozole! After being on letrozole, how many days are you bleeding? This is my second time with Letrozole and I had 9 days of bleeding the first time. By Day 5 I'm ready to quit letrozole because it makes my bones a bit achy, my breasts are super tender and less firm, and overall I feel like I constantly have a buzz that you get with one glass of wine.

Sometimes clomid, although it makes women with PCOS ovulate, causes the uterine lining (or endometrium) to be too thin to support a pregnancy. Letrozole does not have this side effect. Another set of drugs to consider are injection fertility drugs. It is pretty common for clomid to fail - only about 50% of women who ovulate on clomid actually get pregnant. For those who do not get pregnant on clomid, the success rate with the injections is very good.

A year and some ago I had a miscarriage at 12 weeks, followed by a DNC and a chemical pregnancy. In March, i got discovered a fibroid in my uterus and was put on lupron to shrink it. In May i went under Lap and found no fibroid and some endo that the RE took care of. Now, after all this time and my husband's good SA results, both have been checked for blood and chromosomal disorders and we are all clear, we still can't get pregnant!! IT IS SO FRUSTRATING!

I am 30 years old and me and my husband have been trying to conceive for 1 year now. Started with 50 mg clomid and went up to 150 mg. changed 2 doctors in the course. Had 1 IUI with Clomid done in Feb'08. Changed to 3rd doctor after that..and he switched me to Letrozole in Mar and did an IUI with it. He also put me on Metformin and Synthroid and said I have mild PCOS. Got laparoscopy done in Apr and found level 2 endometriosis.

Just before i found out i was pregnant my doctor had prescribed me letrozole femara which I didnt end up needing to take. Unfortunately, because I was so overwhelmed with grief over the miscarriage and could not think rationally, I decided to take the letrozole counting the bleeding from the d&c as a period in which i used from day 2 throught to day 6. As mentioned, it has now been 3 weeks 4days since the d&c and today I had a positive pregnancy test.

Anyone get pregnant using femara/letrozole after being given unexplained infertility diagnosis? How many months did you take it before you got your positive? Me: 28 Hubby: 30 Sperms analysis perfect, laparoscopy perfect, all tests for ovulation and ultrasounds looked perfect. Trying since 2012 no pregnancy yet This is my 2nd cycle on femara, next ovulation expected on 1/14. If 3rd cycle not successful, will do iui with femara anyone else done this and got pregnant? ?

I have had 2 failed IUI's. My doc doubled my dose of Letrozole this month to 5mg days 3-7. Went in on day 10 and had 3 growing follicles, 10mm, 11mm, and 13mm. On day 12 went back in 2 days later and had only 2 follicles and the biggest was only 14mm, so it only grew 1mm in 2 days. Went in for 3rd sono hoping for at least 18-20mm after it being 4 days since last sono, but still only had 2 follicles that were 13mm and 15mm.

5mg two times a day of femara/letrozole and 1500mg a day metformin. I am curious about side effects, advice, success stories, etc. I am anxious and have been TTC for 3 years total, 2 with a doctors assistance. THANK YOU in advance.

There are no specific symptoms of pregnancy and the described changes could be seen both with pregnancy and around the premenstrual period. The only definite way of confirming a pregnancy would be to run a urine/ blood test and get it confirmed by an ultrasound scan. I would suggest waiting for a couple of weeks and in case you do not get your periods, I would recommend running a urine pregnancy test. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
